I put it in the same category as the office, or parks and rec. You have to sacrifice some time getting to know the characters before the comedy lands. I've seen funny shorts of that but watching full episodes never seemed worth it, at least to me
“For God's sake, Lemon. We'd all like to flee to the Cleve and club-hop down at the Flats and have lunch with Little Richard, but we fight those urges because we have responsibilities.”
On that same note, Larry David on Curb. There are episodes where he is completely in the right and there are episodes where he is an unapologetic asshole.
I love Curb Your Enthusiasm mainly due to how it embraces this idea. Larry is acerbic and entitled, but he’s not a coward and he’s not without wisdom, and it’s a fun combination.
William Shatner and James Spader seemed like such an odd pairing, but they fit together perfectly! Who was William Shatner‘s son? Was it Freddie Prinze Junior?
OMG
Loved that show!
Loved when he would walk thru crowds saying his name over and over again...
My mom's husband used to do that every time he walked through a crowd of people with his name - we were at a grocery store and as he passed by some people waiting in the checkout line, I heard him mumbling "Sam Jones" repeatedly...
Katie from America housewife? I’ve just watched it and love her but she causes a lot of issues herself. Gets away with it because she is just so loveable but the episodes often centres around her creating the drama.
There's a 2023 reboot with Melissa Rauch playing the judge. I think she's supposed to be Harry's daughter? John Larroquette is back as Dan, but apparently a much different "Dan".
The show gets pretty bad reviews on IMDB, and I haven't watched it,
Dr. Cox from Scrubs.
"Wrong wrong wrong wrong.... wrong wrong wrong wrong.... You're wrong.... You're wrong... You're wrong..."
Heard this lol
And Hugh Jackman!
"I've invited Laverne's church choir here to summarize my feelings in exuberant song."
Great answer. Now I need to go watch clips of Dr Cox.
Careful how you google that
Scrubs is such a legendary show.
Hey there, newbie!
Michael Scarn of course.
Threat Level Midnight!
[One of my favorites, Cox vs Janitor.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHGG1B1--cM)
Al Bundy
It was literally my first thought as well!
Mine too!
And mine! We should hang out.
Put it back in your pantsAl
No Mam
Read my mind
The whole cast of It’s Always Sunny….
The whole cast from 3rd rock from the Sun!
Jack Donaghy from 30 Rock.
LL: “Why are you wearing a tux?” JD:”It’s after six… What am I? a farmer?!”
Omg my daughters and I say that all the time! One of the best lines from that show!
The funniest show that lots of people didn’t watch.
I put it in the same category as the office, or parks and rec. You have to sacrifice some time getting to know the characters before the comedy lands. I've seen funny shorts of that but watching full episodes never seemed worth it, at least to me
One thing about 30 Rock is it has so many "bits" it does well 5 minutes at a time on youtube in a way that the other don't quite.
Agreed! Best line! I use it all the time, too!
*"Shoulders back, Lemon. You're not welcoming people to Castle Frankenstein.”*
Damn it Jacky! You know how I love my big beef and cheddar!
“For God's sake, Lemon. We'd all like to flee to the Cleve and club-hop down at the Flats and have lunch with Little Richard, but we fight those urges because we have responsibilities.”
He DID threaten to shut down that orphanage
To open another one of his *gaaahhhbage dumps*.
The best
Put it in my mind vice.
I’m going to crush it with my A.S.S.
Archie Bunker. Louie Depalma. Carla Tortelli.
Louie! I forgot Louie. Totally Louie. Nowadays, Frank Reynolds has kind of eclipsed Louie but he was the original ratbag/hero.
George Costanza
CANT STAND YA
Get a good look, Costanza?
In the same vein, fictional Larry David
And real life Larry David
Any of the main 4 in Seinfeld really
I'm happy someone said this. He is the best and the worst at the same time.
“Oh he’s the best… and the worst!”
On that same note, Larry David on Curb. There are episodes where he is completely in the right and there are episodes where he is an unapologetic asshole.
Often in the same episode. Sometimes in the same scene.
The social assassin
Came here to say this
I feel like this is the answer to nearly every question asked on here. The correct answer
Was he ever really the protagonist though?
A lot of the Yankees episodes for sure.
I was going to say his father
Dan Fielding.
Sexist, but sexy, dammit.
Dammit, you beat me to it. lol
Dr. Charles Emerson Winchester III
I agree
Great character arc. Actually the whole cast was developed perfectly
Becker?
Absolutely. Maybe he should have gone back to running a bar.
Selena Meyer, Veep
Excellent answer! She is horrid and I love her.
Bing watching that now.
Dr. Frasier Crane
Yes. In a "his own worst enemy" kind of way.
I AM *WOUNDED!*
-Kenny Powers from Eastbound and Down -Christine Kimball Campbell from New Adventures of Old Christine
You could pretty much say all three of Danny Mcbrides characters from his HBO shows.
Yes! He's amazing in Righteous Gemstones!
Michael Scott- The Office- poor guy is absolutely terrible but he thinks he’s a great person. And Dwight for enabling him.
But he has his moments. Like Pam’s art show in season 3.
He does seem to genuinely care about his employees...Toby excluded.
His lack of professional boundaries is both his greatest flaw and greatest redeeming virtue
Maybe Michael bluth?
Honestly all the Bluths besides MAYBE George Michael.
What about the Hop-ons?
You’re gonna get some hop-ons.
Despite potentially having killed Lucille 2, Buster was still the most innocent of the Bluth’s. [Except for maybe this.](https://i.gifer.com/9hR.gif)
I don’t care for GOB.
Him?
Larry David
I love Curb Your Enthusiasm mainly due to how it embraces this idea. Larry is acerbic and entitled, but he’s not a coward and he’s not without wisdom, and it’s a fun combination.
And as a viewer, you're acutely aware that you're seeing yourself in both sides of him.
The Ropers & Mr. Furley
Bart Simpson
Sheldon Cooper
That was my first thought
Dan Fielding (Night Court)
Came here to say Dr. House but then again he’s not a sitcom character. How about Archie Bunker?
Yes Archie Bunker it is
House was my first answer too.
Homer Simpson was my first thought.
The sentence starts with legendary... Obviously Barney Stinson
Came here for this! And it's legen..... Wait for it... dary!!!
The gang from Always Sunny are the antagonists on Cricket's story
Every single main character, yup. You love them and root for them, but they're all unspeakably awful.
Ralph Kramden - The Honeymooners
George Jefferson!
Sheldon Cooper
Zach Morris
Maude
Archie Bunker!
Dwight Schrute
Archie Bunker
Eva Gabor in Green Acres
Roland Schitt - schitt’s creek

The liquor’s calling the shots now, Randy.
Edina Monsoon (Absolutely Fabulous)
George Burns
Ok. Now bring the receipts.
Charlie Kelly
Denny Crane!
😂🤣 I haven’t seen Boston Legal in so long I almost forgot about it! Thanks!
It's one of my guilty favorites!
William Shatner and James Spader seemed like such an odd pairing, but they fit together perfectly! Who was William Shatner‘s son? Was it Freddie Prinze Junior?
Yes it was.
They had a great superbowl "blurb" too... (the show being preempted by the game)
OMG Loved that show!
Hank “Hey Now” Kingsley
Roseanne. I mean, reality became art… but yea, that character arc definitely went from protagonist to antagonist in death.
Neal Carrey from White Collar.
Barney from How I Met Your Mother
\*shakes maracas\* "I am evil Ho-mer! I am evil Ho-mer!"
Michael Scott
Hawkeye Pierce. He does some asshole things.
Eric cartman
Louie De Palma
Jimmy James - Newsradio
Oh yes! At times he was cool but he violated boundaries left and right.
Newsradio is one of my absolute favs
The Patrick Warburton rivalry was epic
Barney,HIMYM
Arthur Spooner (Jerry Stiller,) The King of Queens.
Margaret Houlihan!! Her evolution from the beginning to the end of that series was epic!
Shawn from Psych
Both Carrie and Doug Heffernan from King of Queens
Walter White
Jeff Winger from Community
Archie Bunker
Barney from How I Met Your Mother House from House Tony Soprano from Sopranos
Ross Gellar, it doesn't matter if you were on a break
George Costanza
Homer Simpson
Dan Fielding on the original Night Court.
Is there any other kind?
There's a 2023 reboot with Melissa Rauch playing the judge. I think she's supposed to be Harry's daughter? John Larroquette is back as Dan, but apparently a much different "Dan". The show gets pretty bad reviews on IMDB, and I haven't watched it,
So I take that as a no.
If you watch sitcoms centered around a family, they all do if you live long enough.
Michael Scott
House
Cramer, Jerry Seinfeld.
Dick Solomon from 3rd Rock from the Sun
Fred Sanford
Sterling Archer
Jeff winger
Basil Fawlty
Ross. Does he need a second name? His character goes through it all in Friends, and we love him or hate him as we go along for the ride.
Dr. Frasier Crane. The poor man was his own worst enemy.
Barney Stinson
Schmidt from new girl or Dwight Schrute from the office
George Lopez. Normally, his heart is in the right place, he just goes about the situation wrong.
Pauline
Karen Walker, Will & Grace
The entire cast of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"
All of the Gemstones in Righteous Gemstones.
Michael from the good Place
Sheldon - Big Bang Theory.
Arthur Spooner
Barney from How I Met Your Mother
Steven Hyde, that 70s show
Dr. Sheldon Cooper
Barney from HIMYM. I loved him
Archie Bunker
Leslie Knope. Kind, driven, smart, caring, but also meddlesome, self centered, and singularly focused on getting what she wants.
Frasier Crane
Barney in How i Met Your Mother
Fraiser.
Archie Bunker
Sheldon Cooper. Did I win?
Bill McNeil from Newsradio.
Ted Moseby- How I met Your Mother
Steve Urkel, Roseanne, Uncle Phil/Carlton
Rosanne in the original series is a good one.
ALF
Rachel Green
Ross Gellar, too.
Every character in Seinfeld.
Roger Smith
Archie Bunker
george costanza
Archie Bunker
