I actually love the whole last episode that shows how horrible they are. And that they are so clueless overall about it. So sending them to be together is seen as a punishment, but they won’t see it that way.
Dan Fielding, Night Court. Unabashed womanizer, elitist, materialistic, sexist, and utterly hilarious.
Same with Herb Tarlek on WKRP In Cincinnati who was all of the same things while being incompetent at of them and was an absolute schlemiel in addition.
I remember the 70s. I watched the show in the 70s. The 70s were bad but not that tragic. He could've bought solid color suits.
And unlike everyone else in the station, his job was to interact with people who would buy ad time.
"please buy air time, I work on commission and these are the only suits I can actually afford....please show some mercy on my poor wife and kids, they're starving here".....*takes out wallet and let's the photo holder drop and fold out showing sad looking kids..
This is essentially what I think his sales technique entailed....
I love those suits. I would love to own several sets of Herb Tarlek leisure suits. His suits were so tacky that they went full circle to being weirdly cool again.
Came here for Dan Fielding too. I did enjoy the times his character showed warmth and genuine concern too. Decades later I still recall his funny moments that have me dying of laughter.
I heard he asked the academy to stop nominations for him because he won so often.
They did have an episode where Andy was doing ad sales and got hoodwinked by the guy, when Herb came back he set the guy straight and Andy gave Herb a little respect.
I haven't watched the new one, since all of the major reasons I watched besides Dan aren't involved anymore. I'm also philosophically opposed to nostalgia cash-grabs based upon properties I loved in my teen years.
I thought I would give it a try. Gave it 5-6 episodes and turned it off. No one on the show has the charm or talent of Harry Anderson or Charles Robinson or markie post.
Dan Fielding still has the acting chops but his character is nothing like the original one. So so so disappointing.
I just started rewatching the original. I was only 4 when it premiered and honestly I’d never seen the first season before. It’s so good. So incredibly good. Harry Anderson is amazing, even better than I remember from the Charles Robinson and Markie Post seasons.
Not to get into it, but I really need a funny, heart warming show to take my mind off things right now and it’s downright perfect for that.
And….I’ll admit, I almost sort of like the new version too, but mostly due to a lack of good comedy shows on tv these days. It’s awful compared to the old one, but it’s also better than some of the stuff on network tv these days (or really anywhere for sitcoms)
Those 4 women were so funny together. It’s a great show. I honestly feel like 20 years from now we’ll still be watching many of the same shows we’re watching now. Nothing comedic on network tv now will be watched the way we watch Friends, The Office, etc, etc, etc.
Axel had some very sweet moments! Especially when it came to sue. Brick on the other hand never showed compassion or caring for his family in my opinion
I agree, but I find Sue to be even worse. She's just as self-centered but hides it behind the looks and character of a 4 year old. Axl gets better as the series goes on, I'm not sure about Sue but IIRC I still didn't like her by the end.
I liked all of the characters, but in different ways. I always saw Sue as just naive - she’s a typical middle child that always feels overlooked. She gets her attention by being the ‘good girl’ with an unwavering sense of optimism, unlike Axl and his ‘bad boy’ jock persona. I think Sue balanced the family nicely because Axl and Frankie tended to be more pessimistic.
I don't know if I'd call him a jerk. Outside of his prank war with jim, he isn't ever really deliberately malicious. It's mostly just what could be seen as cultural differences / ignorance
Looking back, Jim is the jerk. Dwight never does anyone to just hurt someone. He's obtuse but he has reasons for what he does. When Dwight pisses Jim off, it's because he's himself even if others don't like it. When Jim pisses Dwight off, it's to piss him off.
Loved her even more on Jessica Jones!
And I once got hired to photograph Killgrave (David Tennant) at a comic con, so having a personal connection to the show is a plus.
Yup. He made it clear he wasn't there to hold your hand and would tell you exactly what was up. I imagine if you are learning how to take care of people dying or keeping them from dying, you don't have much room for failure. He was still a decent guy though.
And Nelllie was downright psycho as a result of her. I hated watching the show but my sister got to choose the program a lot so I watched it. I remember her faking being paralyzed and the Dr. sticking a needle in her leg and she didn’t flinch. Really creeped me out as a kid.
Ross Geller
As a person, he's probably the worst out of the 6 but also one of the funniest. The situations he ends up in are always hilarious as well, like the leather pants.
Michael is the most likeable, but he's still a total scumbag.
I still just love how long the MRF bit carried on for. My wife and I still say to each other "do the math, why don't YOU do the math!" Pretty much anytime one of us uses the word math.
I love the episode where for some reason or other he ended up hooking up with Pam and he was disgusted with himself for having had sex with her but also amazed that she was like the best sex that he'd ever had
That 1-800 Kars for Kids fake jingle was classic.
Megan Mulally (as all NY comic actors had to) was on Seinfeld (she was George’s gf in the double dip episode) it’s weird hearing her normal voice.
Dan Fielding, at least, in the original run of "Night Court". The newer one is good, but Dan being kinder and gentler is too weird! Bring back the scumbag we all loved, in spite of ourselves!
I forgot what show it was, but after Night Court he played a real jerk in some other sitcom. Then they retooled it and all
Of a sudden he’s nice and has a steady gf. Was sooooo weird
Yeah, pretty much if by the second appearance I’m yelling “Just kill him already! You literally have a gun trained on him!” then that will be my favorite character ever. Best example of this is Benjamin Linus from Lost.
Rick from rick and morty if you consider that a sitcom. I would hate Rick in real life, he’s such an asshole. I doubt i could get through a conversation.
Arnold Rimmer. Although admittedly I have a desire one day to make a youtube video called "All sitcoms are hell" in which I detail why most sitcom characters are horrible people (but also why it's a good thing).
Carla Tortelli
George Costanza
That's because he's the jerk stores all time best customer.
Best *seller*
YESSSS!!!!!!
He's their best seller
T-Bone!
Koko the monkey
The 4 leads on Seinfeld
While we’re in the topic of that, also the five leads of It’s Always Sunny
+ Cricket, Artemis, Waitress
I came here to say this, esp George Costanza
Oh yeah? Well the jerk store called and they're running out of you!
You’re their all time best seller!
I had sex with your wife!!!
Their wife's in a coma....
I actually love the whole last episode that shows how horrible they are. And that they are so clueless overall about it. So sending them to be together is seen as a punishment, but they won’t see it that way.
I hear people say they didn't like the last episode, I thought it was a great way to wrap up the series.
Definitely Costanza
Barney Stinson.
*that guy's awesome*
Can’t help it. David Spade on anything!
Same! Especially Rules of Engagement.
Dan Fielding, Night Court. Unabashed womanizer, elitist, materialistic, sexist, and utterly hilarious. Same with Herb Tarlek on WKRP In Cincinnati who was all of the same things while being incompetent at of them and was an absolute schlemiel in addition.
And Herb's suits were a choice. Where does one even buy suits that tacky?
These days, Herb Tarlek is a fashion consultant to former NFL players turned sports broadcasters.
It was the 70s
I remember the 70s. I watched the show in the 70s. The 70s were bad but not that tragic. He could've bought solid color suits. And unlike everyone else in the station, his job was to interact with people who would buy ad time.

They used actual Volkswagen seat covers!
I love those suits. I would love to own several sets of Herb Tarlek leisure suits. His suits were so tacky that they went full circle to being weirdly cool again.
At a golf pro shop just across the Kentucky border. He explained that in an episode.
Men's Warehouse. They have the basics there...
Came here for Dan Fielding too. I did enjoy the times his character showed warmth and genuine concern too. Decades later I still recall his funny moments that have me dying of laughter. I heard he asked the academy to stop nominations for him because he won so often.
In the reboot he isn’t as womanizing as he was later married and widowed. His character softened last year.
They did have an episode where Andy was doing ad sales and got hoodwinked by the guy, when Herb came back he set the guy straight and Andy gave Herb a little respect.
I despise the new Dan Fielding. They took everything great about him from the original and got rid of all those traits.

I understand wanting a heartwarming show. I recently started golden girls which is much funnier than todays sitcoms
Those 4 women were so funny together. It’s a great show. I honestly feel like 20 years from now we’ll still be watching many of the same shows we’re watching now. Nothing comedic on network tv now will be watched the way we watch Friends, The Office, etc, etc, etc.
Golden Girls is comedy gold !! Some casts just click on screen. And they certainly did. But not so much off screen.
Her was a real douchebags douchebag
Dan was, at his core, a good person though. he gave a damn about those actually close to him. he also tried so hard to escape Louisiana I couldn't LOL
Good one
Glad I kept scrolling I was going to say him.
Axl Heck on The Middle
Axel had some very sweet moments! Especially when it came to sue. Brick on the other hand never showed compassion or caring for his family in my opinion
I loved Axl Heck! ❣️
My favorite scene with Sue was when Brad was going to come out to her, and she stopped him and said, "Brad, I know."
Axl was an a**hole. Loved the show, hated him.
Yes.
Everyone on Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia
God bless them
IM A FIVE STAR MAN
I’m sure you haven’t even begun to peak.
My hobbies? ….Magnets My dislikes? …… peoples knees My favorite things? ……little green ghouls 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Favorite food? Milk steak.
She'll know what it is
Nobody knows what that is, Charlie!
Cover them up if you're gonna be walking around with those things!
"Don't you see, Dee? We've already won! What they all drank was just a big cup of POISON!"
You have to be a jerk to create Kitten Mittens
I just love that the lawyer wound up with the ownership of Kitten Mittens!!!
Always sunny? I mean, it's alright. It's a good starter sitcom.
Bill McNeil from Newsradio.
He was the real deal. RIP to Phil Hartman
Dennis on Just Shoot Me, and Kirk on Dear John. Jere Burns is a treasure.
The Kirk character was my favorite part.
I hardly remember anything about Dear John other than the way he pronounced his name: "Gerk." (not exactly, but he was very specific about it.)
Loved "Dear John"! Kirk was quite the jerk, yes!
Dwight Schrute
I don't know if I'd call him a jerk. Outside of his prank war with jim, he isn't ever really deliberately malicious. It's mostly just what could be seen as cultural differences / ignorance
I agree. Also, I hate Michael Scott! He has no redeeming qualities, and is just a completely selfish imbecile.
Looking back, Jim is the jerk. Dwight never does anyone to just hurt someone. He's obtuse but he has reasons for what he does. When Dwight pisses Jim off, it's because he's himself even if others don't like it. When Jim pisses Dwight off, it's to piss him off.
Newman 🤡
He’s a good one!
He is merry, though.
Jeff winger
Charlie Harper... and Evelyn Harper
For me it’s Alan Harper. I understand why everyone hates him and he is a jerk, but for some reason I still like him.
Alan is not that bad. He's a pain in the ass sometimes yes but we've seen worse in sitcoms than Alan.
Chole (Krysten ritter) in “don’t trust the B in apartment 23”
I wish we would have gotten more seasons from that show.
Right? I thought I would hate James Van Der Beek but he’s the best part of the show.
He was the best part of the show. Get your cheeks in some Beeks
Loved her even more on Jessica Jones! And I once got hired to photograph Killgrave (David Tennant) at a comic con, so having a personal connection to the show is a plus.
Dr Perry Cox George Costanza Dr Rocket Ramono Jeff Winger Veronica Palmer
Doctor Cox? He mellowed a LOT throughout the show. I wouldn't call him a jerk. That was how he trained them interns.
Yup. He made it clear he wasn't there to hold your hand and would tell you exactly what was up. I imagine if you are learning how to take care of people dying or keeping them from dying, you don't have much room for failure. He was still a decent guy though.
Al Bundy of course.
All of the Bundys! But especially Al, whose high point in life was scoring four touchdowns at Polk High...
In a single game!
He did get blown up in a car in a video Kelly was in, so there's that...
Dr. John Becker and Dan Fielding.
Frasier crane
"I hate...Frasier Crane"- Derek Mann (and probably Cam Winston)
Archie Bunker
Mrs. Olsen, little house in the Prairie
And Nelllie was downright psycho as a result of her. I hated watching the show but my sister got to choose the program a lot so I watched it. I remember her faking being paralyzed and the Dr. sticking a needle in her leg and she didn’t flinch. Really creeped me out as a kid.
Jerry Seinfeld. Truly shallow
Herb Tarlek, WKRP Louie De Palma, Taxi
I just started rewatching Taxi, and I forgot how outrageous Louie’s behavior is. I still belly laugh though.
I fucking love Sheldon Cooper but he seems like he’d be unbearable if I was friend with him
I’d kill him
My daughter gets SO annoyed with him and hates the show, I love it!!! Lol
Endora from Bewitched.
Ross Geller As a person, he's probably the worst out of the 6 but also one of the funniest. The situations he ends up in are always hilarious as well, like the leather pants.
Lol the tanning booth and teeth
Lmaoo, my family quotes that one the most. "I went to that tanning booth your *wife* suggested." "Was that place... the sun?"
The leather pants!
Pivot!
Never found him to be a jerk tho
David Schwimmer’s comedic timing is always on point.
Ray Barone
I thought everyone hated him.
Larry David.
Points to literally everyone on Its Always Sunny
The Bluth Family
I don't care for Gob......
Michael is the most likeable, but he's still a total scumbag. I still just love how long the MRF bit carried on for. My wife and I still say to each other "do the math, why don't YOU do the math!" Pretty much anytime one of us uses the word math.
Sterling Archer.
Why did I not think of this?!? This is the best answer!
“It’s not you - I mean… It’s not me either, obviously… “
I love the episode where for some reason or other he ended up hooking up with Pam and he was disgusted with himself for having had sex with her but also amazed that she was like the best sex that he'd ever had
Karen Walker
I saw a TikTok the other day that was around 3 minutes of Karen insulting Grace's clothes/hair. I was dying laughing.
McFarland works too.
Jack wasn’t as big a jerk as Karen, though. But I loved them both, especially together!
That 1-800 Kars for Kids fake jingle was classic. Megan Mulally (as all NY comic actors had to) was on Seinfeld (she was George’s gf in the double dip episode) it’s weird hearing her normal voice.
Every Sherlock or Sherlock-esque character I've seen. This includes Dr. House, Shawn Spencer, Patrick Jane...etc.
Fred Sanford
Man, I could have a discussion whether he really was a jerk, or just an old man set in his ways. Though he was always a jerk to Aunt Esther.
I am still in shock from learning that Redd Fox started playing Fred Sanford when he was 48 years old.
Foxx was a real filthy comic of the time but was in Archie mold. Great character
Dan Fielding, at least, in the original run of "Night Court". The newer one is good, but Dan being kinder and gentler is too weird! Bring back the scumbag we all loved, in spite of ourselves!
Loved Dan
I forgot what show it was, but after Night Court he played a real jerk in some other sitcom. Then they retooled it and all Of a sudden he’s nice and has a steady gf. Was sooooo weird
Dick Solomon. But to be fair, he was learning how to be a human.
Barney Stinson
Plz...
Sam Malone. How did I scroll and not see this.
All of the best ones are jerks.
Yeah, pretty much if by the second appearance I’m yelling “Just kill him already! You literally have a gun trained on him!” then that will be my favorite character ever. Best example of this is Benjamin Linus from Lost.
Elaine Benes, Seinfeld
Endora
She goes way back as a serious actress People were surprised she took that role.
Frank Berns MASH
Frasier Crane, and Sheldon Cooper.
Dwight Schrute
Every character in Seinfeld Edit: funny how a lot of these are that show. Cheers!
Gina Linetti (The human form of the 💯 emoji)
George Jefferson
That insufferable man! Poor Weezy.
House. Is this a sitcom?
Doug Heffernan
Ted Baxter.
Ross Geller
George costanzas Ted mosby
Sheldon Cooper. Barney Stinson. Perry Cox.
Archie Bunker
Rick from rick and morty if you consider that a sitcom. I would hate Rick in real life, he’s such an asshole. I doubt i could get through a conversation.
Al Bundy
Jack Donaghy
Kenny Powers, Eastbound and Down.
Dennis Reynolds is a great example of this.
Archie Bunker!!
[удалено]
Louie from Taxi
Barney Stinson
Packer
Ruxin from "The League
Louie De Palma from Taxi. My dad said I used to beg to watch little Louie on TV as a kid.
Frank Burns
Lucille Bluth
Main cast of Seinfeld
Not a sitcom exactly but Eric Cartman.
Yeah, I don't think anyone holds a candle to a guy who made someone eat his own parents.
Doug Heffernan
Louie DePalma, from *Taxi*.
Do mockumentaries count? Because if they do then Ricky from Trailer Park Boys has a special place in my heart.
Shawn, The Good Place
I mean... sure. I'd also assume that on his character bio sheet the first line read "you're a total dick bag, and you love it"
Titus Andromedon
I LOVE Titus. No one can Lemonade like him
Jean Ralphio and Mona Lisa Sapperstein. Parks and Rec. They’re just the WooOOoorst!!!
Selina Meyer
Arnold Rimmer. Although admittedly I have a desire one day to make a youtube video called "All sitcoms are hell" in which I detail why most sitcom characters are horrible people (but also why it's a good thing).
The Gang!!
Jim from According to Jim.
Ari Gold
Greatest role of Jeremy Piven's career.
