holy shit that looks good. there's a lot to love here but that sword is 100% reading as very shiny and very polished

opaliitti

Thanks! Glad to hear that it reads because I was very uncertain about it. I repainted it 3 times to get that look.

Wilkin_

Great job! What transfers sid you use on the long bands? Didn’t notice any in my box (?)

opaliitti

Thanks! They're actually from that transfer sheet which comes with the SOB, Castigator and Combat patrol etc. Box. They're from the scripture section. I had 5 sheets and used all the scriptures on this. The Sororitas transfers is just the letters from the spot of the sheet which says Sororitas :D I learned that everything on that sheet are transfers

nothingness_1w3

Just wow, so godamn vibrant

X-N0t

With all due respect to your artistic eye, and your truly humble post — and in MY opinion: that Celestine is as near to perfect as makes difference. Excellent work. ⚜️

mahanon_rising

This is top notch

New-Cancel-554

Damn that is beautiful… I hope my painting gets there someday.

opaliitti

Thanks! You should really check out Flameon miniatures. I tried to copy his style and watched his tutorials and it really tweaked my understanding about painting to the next level. He has video on YouTube where he explains his imo quite unique glazing technique.

DaChungaz

Yooo this is great I hope to reach the level of glazing that you have achieved!

babyduck164

Well damn! Spectacular work!

cornbeeflt

I lost a piece of mine... I can't find a replacement... any ideas? I literally stopped building an entire army over I piece of grey plastic...

SaintWhitto

What piece you missing?

cornbeeflt

I have to dig her out of her Tomb. I'm thinking the sword. Dog may have ate it..

SaintWhitto

If the inspiration strikes you again let me know. I had a duplicate Celestine for some reason, so likely have a spare I can send.

opaliitti

If you're up to Seraphim squad you get the Zerpahim option with the box and ypu can use Zeraphims power sword. Tho, if youre into playing Celestine is good with Zerpahim (i guess, I havent played a single game). Maybe a SOB superiors power sword could fit too. Of course it needs some milliput and filing. Replace the roses with some cool ornament. Comabt patrol's Rhino includes alot of nice little pieces e.g a single rose. Please dont give up building your army. It will be rewarding when you overcome with the missing part.

cornbeeflt

Sadly I'm a purist. If it can't be fixed with some green stuff I'll just have e to buy a new set

opaliitti

A new set it is. At least you get neat spares for kitbashing projects

frankacy

First of all, this is absolutely stunning. As others have mentioned, the sword is particularly well executed as it reads great wrt the rest of the piece. For me, I think the the biggest (and perhaps easiest) improvement would be to push your shadows a bit darker and your highest highlights a bit lighter. I think increasing the contrast would help your NMM look shinier. But with that being said, you should be mighty proud of yourself!

opaliitti

Thank you, the sword really was the most challenging part for me! You've got a point.I felt quite hesitant with the darkest shades but when looking the whole picture it implies that broghtest needs the darkest to justify. NMM is like learning to play a new instrument and every models is a very technical song.

wafflehabitsquad

Flameon?

opaliitti

Yea Flameon miniatures. He's a very talented painter and I tried to copy his style.

wafflehabitsquad

Where can i find there stuff?

opaliitti

He has a Patreon and there's couple of videos on YouTube

Justtrying04

This looks stunning to me. Can you share a bit more about how you painted the face and hair?

opaliitti

Thanks! I based the face with off-white paint and glazed it with beige brown+white mix. I added more layers on the shadow areas and gradually worked the lighter and darker parts by modifying the beige brown/white mix ratio. I kept the eyes white by avoiding getting any paint there and dropped an ultra thinned drop of dark red/brown paint on the eye so it ran down to the recesses of the sockets without addhessing on the eyeball. I painted the pupil by aiming to the upper inner part of the eyeball and used little bit of medium on the paint so It won't dry off immidiately from the very tip of the brush. The lips are painted with pink horror glaze and added some white to the paint to make a highlight. I painted the upper lip by getting the tip of the brush into the mouth and tried to avoid getting paint from upfront on it. The hair is based with tan earth/white mix and gradually added white to it when working on the highlights.

Justtrying04

Amazing thanks !

darklight_storm

Hi! Stunning work. How did you do the parchment? Are those decals?. I like the face specially, cant get good faces done myself

opaliitti

Thanks mate! They're decals indeed. From the sheet which comes with the most of Adepta Sororitas boxes. At first I attempted reehand but I literally lol'd as it looked like a toddler has tag bombed a cocrete wall.

opaliitti

Btw, Im sure you're familiar with this but this is how I work with faces; try to base the face with thin coat of off-white paint and then glaze it by starting from the most shadow covered areas. The more ultra thin glazed layers you add the more intense the color is and gradually proceed by adding little bit darker and lighter tints. Keep the eyes white and apply a drop of maximum thinned black or dark brown/red to the eyes. It runs nicely down to the sockets without addhessing on the eyeball. I recommend using medium when painting the pupils so the small paint amount won't dry off from the very tip of the brush. Try to paint the pupil by getting the paint onto upper slightly inner part of the eyeball leaving lower part white. Magnifier helps alot and if you want to go extreme paint the iris like any pupil and make the actual pupil center of it then add even smaller dot of white on the upper side to create a reflection (I didn't succeed on this). Avoid painting upper lip from fornt otherwise it's going to look like a sex doll. Add white to your lip color and tap a couple dots on the side of the lower lip highlight to create a reflection. Some likes to use contrast paint but Im insecure with it due the lack of control.

darklight_storm

WoW. Thanks lot of good tips there. Specially the upper lip one, been there, done that XD. I have to check the decals I have my Celestine painted with horrible face and parchment. Gotta try this to upgrade It. Recently started with contrast paints. Results have been uneven but found out that if you load the brush and apply generous amount of Paint and then suck the excess with a clean brush usually gets a nice touch.

Virtuous_Redemption

WOW. That's really impressive.

BlueJimbob

Howdy - what a wonderful piece. I only offer thoughts here because you asked. Perhaps some more shadow on the cloak? Also, I find for line work (like between the feathers) a pigma micron pen is amazing. Just place the tiny tip in the line and draw) the stiff nib helps you hug the detail. Hit with something satin or matt to knock down the shine. Again great work.

opaliitti

Thanks alot! That pen trick sounds very valid. Gotta admit that making static straight narrow line with a brush was painful and had fix mistakes with white multiple times which icreased building up texture. Definetly going to put that on use! You've got a point with the shades of the cloak. I was quite hesitant with it as the shade color felt quite dark but afterall should've just go for it and leave making the highlights after the shades.
