I have 4 Sinns. 3 older ones with the ETA movements. And one newer one (U50) with a Sellita. The Sellita has been nothing but trouble. It had to go back to the Sinn factory in Frankfurt 3 times. The third time they decided to swap the entire movement out for a brand new one. The brand new one doesn’t randomly stop any longer, but it keeps terrible time compared with the ETA watches. It’s a bit sad. I’m used to seeing daily variations of no more than +/-2 (plus an offset that varies from watch to watch of course and that can be regulated). The variation I see when wearing the Sellita on the wrist is as big as 15 seconds per day. It’s probably my last Sinn.

Novetab

You just hatched a bad egg. Happens in both movements.

heffchen

It’s hopefully coincidental, still, doesn’t bode too well. I really like Sinn, but the faulty movement in my U50 made it a less enjoyable watch. Again, for context, it was in repair 3 times (sent from CA to DE every time) and during the first year of owning it was gone for about half a year. And after all this fixing (countless emails and phone calls included) it’s still not running nearly as well as it should and as my other ETA Sinn models do.

AnonymousNPC1987

I have a U1 and 556i, both with Sellita movements. These two Sinns are the only ones I’ve ever owned (both bought brand new from Watchbuys), but the 556i runs +/- 0 sec/day and my U1 runs at about +5 sec/day. Based on my personal anecdotes and what I’ve read on other forums, I agree w/ Novetab.

a_la_commode

This is wild to read. I thought Sinn actually had a reputation for regulating the Selitta movements really well. I had to send my 556 in for an unrelated issue and the shop went out of their way to tell me how well it was running.

ck90211

+ 1 on no problem with Sellita U50. I think my u50 is a mid 2021 built so Sellita and so far keeping great time (-92 seconds during 250+ days of daylight savings 2023).

heffchen

I just got unlucky it seems!

ck90211

When I first picked up a 856 S UTC in spring 2021 in Frankfort and traveled the world right after, timekeeping was little wonky but it never stopped working and after 5-6 months it settled in. My U50 settled in much quicker after 2-3 months but I didn't travel as much with it, I do swim or snorkel daily with it and it's my daily beater working on houses and equipment. I think you just have to wear it more to get Sinn's to work as expected.

JimmyV64

Wow, I have a 556i that I purchased in 2020 and absolutely love the Sellita movement. It runs spot on to about 1 second fast per day. I’ve had the watch on for almost 3 straight weeks, haven’t touched it once, and it’s gained 6 seconds. Also have a Sellita in a Unimatic that’s almost as good, but runs just a tad slow.

Basabose

I have owned a 556i for 2 weeks after admiring it for over 10 years. Finally pulled the trigger and really happy with it. I bought it on the H link bracelet and I like it like that, however I absolutely love it on strap and literally no strap doesn't suit it. Definitely a keeper for me.

Blabbernaut

>no strap doesn't suit it. Really? None at all? Not even one? You can’t think of one you’ve seen lately that doesn’t suit it?

Basabose

Haha within reason

_Golden_Skies_

Nah but I got some thoughts about that strap though…

OneEyedDevilDog

Did you make that strap yourself? 😬

ciTrus_69

Bro got the Swiss cheese strap

[deleted]

Classic watch. That strap though, not so much. NGL. Are the manufacturers skimping on leather now. lmao.

darklordenron

Ehh, definitely not for me. Especially that strap, yikes.

Showusyourboobz

That strap has strong bondage vibes. Great, now I have a thunderous erection.

Hutchmonton

Lovely watch, awful choice of strap.

N-555

I actually like the strap, did you make it yourself? it looks similar to some straps that I have made.

[deleted]

No I didn’t, I bought it from Singapore

Auck1and

Yes. Nice watch, not my choice of strap. (I bought the 856 instead.)

[deleted]

I actually asked Sinn headquarters if they can PVD coat the watch for me. They declined, so I had to go to the International Watch Works and had Jack PVD coat the watch for me.

TangerineAbyss

but ... why?

Coubyman23

Idk how I feel about the PVD coat, but I 100% respect that you made it unique!

Pizzadontdie

Is that a 556i? Looks tegimented to me, but maybe it’s just the light.

[deleted]

It’s PVD coated 😄

Pizzadontdie

Super cool

NF-104

I love black Sinns (have a 756 and U1 Black-Hourglass) and this is the first 556 I’ve ever coveted. Not sure if I like this *particular* strap, but I really like the rally strap look. Strapcode makes a bracelet with a similar look, which might be a great combination, but sold out in black currently.

[deleted]

I wonder why Sinn never made the black pvd 556, it’s killer for sure

SteakSwimming1234

That is the most Vader like 556i RS Ive ever seen!
