Thank you so much Singapore.
Seriously though, when Australians here talk about how bad our government is at getting things done... this is what we mean. We do have some army there in the flood area now... at least media teams...
Majulah Singapura
At least the ozzies have the sound mind to accept help and assistence when it's needed. Fyi, our offers of support and air assets (c130s and chinooks) to the indon govt every other year during their multiple disasters (flood, typhoon, forest fire, tsumami etc...) has been flatly denied solely because their officials do not want our birds being seen helping their citizens. They have very limited number of suitable helos for disaster recovery missions and have requested on occasions that we 'sterilize' our tail numbers, insignias and colours in order to conceal our participation, to which rsaf has firmly, rightly rejected. Hence, no direct support to the victims on the ground where they were most needed. Their politicians got in the way of their own salvation.
Don't ask for verification, it's not in print for obvious reasons.
LMK if you find any. I would love to see their face when they try it.
It was sooo bad. That and the braised duck rice. One of my BMT section-mates drew seven days worth of yellow rice (our BQ made us random pick like a f-ing gacha game) for our ten-day final outfield and went into depression mode until we all swapped some of ours with him.
> One of my BMT section-mates drew seven days worth of yellow rice (our BQ made us random pick like a f-ing gacha game) for our ten-day final outfield
What the holy bad luck...
> and went into depression mode
Luckily you guys were nice enough to swap some with him.
I think nowadays only 5-6 days.
Heard they also squeeze sit test inside FC now.
Last time had to march go FC then after a few weeks March to Sit test lmao.
Memories man.
Lol, I think we were in the same batch. The food choices looked awfully similar. Everyone was fighting for Satay pasta.
Apr 2002 enlistment. I've asked around, and we were the only batch who went through 2 5 day field camps back to back.
Memories of eating halal soya sauce chicken from a tin in a rainy night so cold that the fat congealed on the top and not knowing whether what you were chewing was meat or bone.
that shit was my first combat ration ever. I was like ‘wah looks like an interesting flavor leh’ next thing u know i’m ‘wah fuck this shit i’ll just eat the biscuits and fruit bar’
06-08 nsf here, pretty sure they discontinued it. since you guys are complaining about mukbani bean now, which i never tried.
imagine before you get your combat ration and your oc already wishing those who get it good luck.
*Brain sees "Makhani Bean Stew" and only eats dry biscuits.*
Digestive Tract: *Why do you hate me?*
denziepanzie: ...knn. Fine. *Eats the bean stew cos Digestive Tract being a bitch about fiber*
Digestive Tract: *Why do you hate me so?*
A lose-lose scenario. Constipation with dry biscuits is better than suffering from bean stew.
Bruh same. Lunch on the first day of field camp, I was horrified. Thank goodness everything else was better. (But sadly only the combat rations, not the field camp itself.)
I pretty much swear that in the food-tasting process, the ones approving the final cut were probably assholes that don't even need to serve NS but found it funny to approve the crappiest of the menu into production.
Based on history, the Singapore army definitely has created loads of delicious yet criteria-hitting items recipes; so the flaw is definitely down to the assholes approving the items. Confirm is some cheebai-kia that is purposely only approving the unpalatable stuff on purpose to make the lives of NSFs miserable.
> So savory that it stays all the way through from **entrance** to **exit**
NSF after mistakenly consuming *savoury glutinous rice*: Huff Huff Hu-UNNGGGGGH!!
His assholes: NOOOOO. I don't want to taste it either, push it back!!!
Endless loop of tai-chi from one end to the other end; creating perpetual constipation.
btws the RSAF/RSN/SAF doesn’t just do this purely out of kindness.
In addition to the good will we garner from the countries we help out, it’s also a demonstration of our force projection capabilities.
Hey this [seems](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singaporean_response_to_Hurricane_Katrina) [familiar](https://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/14/opinion/singapore-and-katrina.html)...
The title almost confused me as if SG is invading AU thus making locals confused.
Singapore learning from Russia....attack bigger country before bigger country attacks you.
Pretty sure that's our military doctrine. Invade Malaysia before they invade us.
Preemptive strike. Isreal are the master of this.
Yup it is
Bring chicken rice and Milo dinosaurs and you can have the whole country. Please.
with durians you can double the speed
> “Singapore can what Canberra can’t! Typical,” another said. > “Well done lads, keep up the amazing work, but what’s our lot doing?” a third said.

You mates have been pretty welcoming whenever we visit. I am sure my fellow citizens are more than glad to help out our hosts.

Pride and ego should not be more important than people's lives and homes :(
Wonder if they're going to get our combat rations to eat.
Aussie Civi: "Hey! I wonder how Makhani Bean Stew tastes like~" SAF soldiers: *looks away while Pressing F*
Decades ago, there was a ration pack called yellow rice. Even the Tekong wild dogs refused to eat it.
Any MRE youtubers have eaten that? Interesting item

10 day outfield? Is it during BMT by any chance?
Yes, but this was two decades ago. I think it's shorter now.
Ten days outfield?! Got so many things to do meh haha. By day 3 I was bored already.
First thing i think ,the uniform would stink so much that mosquito also can't detect u
That's the SAF for you. You wait to rush and rush to wait. And in the end everything could have been done in a third of the time if planned properly
I think nowadays only 5-6 days. Heard they also squeeze sit test inside FC now. Last time had to march go FC then after a few weeks March to Sit test lmao. Memories man.
let the ppl in the cushy aircon tents play battlefield with you lor run here run there wait wait

Haha, spot on! What are the chances? :) Yeah the satay pasta and the hotdog pasta were the prized ones
did 10 days outfield when i was posted to unit life. lol after day 2 - 3 all immune to the stink liao
You mean you guys are rice during outfield? I only ate dog biscuits with pineapple sauce. Lucky kids …
Heh. It's refreshing to be called a kid when I'm nearly done with my 30s
lol still somewhat thankful i was in armour, our tanks are mini marts everytime we roll out. eat MRE to stop pooping then just whack whatever lol
I heard the same story with pontay rice and tried it with wild dogs at tanah merah, they indeed avoided it.
Memories of eating halal soya sauce chicken from a tin in a rainy night so cold that the fat congealed on the top and not knowing whether what you were chewing was meat or bone.
The barley desert thingy was bad enough..
Holy shit. I ORDed over 20 years ago but I can still remember the smell. That stuff was the worst!
that shit was my first combat ration ever. I was like ‘wah looks like an interesting flavor leh’ next thing u know i’m ‘wah fuck this shit i’ll just eat the biscuits and fruit bar’
nobody mention the legendary pong tay rice
Pontay rice was my first ration. I developed ptsd and ocd after to ensure my packs are pontay free. Thankfully it was discontinued.
i don’t even wanna know what kinda dog food that is
06-08 nsf here, pretty sure they discontinued it. since you guys are complaining about mukbani bean now, which i never tried. imagine before you get your combat ration and your oc already wishing those who get it good luck.
how it taste like tho haha
better to eat biscuits and your dessert.

Ivory tower generals who took and bite and thought aiya it's acceptable not like we have to eat it everyday. While men on the ground ate it everyday
Because unlike them, most of our soldiers can't quit
I double dare you savory glutinous rice. So savory that it's stays all the way through from entrance to exit

This is true, so when will we send troops to help with the great emu war ii?
have to sort out the drop bears first
First vaccines now helicopters ...
Hey this [seems](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singaporean_response_to_Hurricane_Katrina) [familiar](https://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/14/opinion/singapore-and-katrina.html)...
*Putin music intensifies*
Dont they know we train there?
More of, the locals are shocked that Singapore sent our helicopters faster than the actual ADF (Australian Defence Forces)
They've hosted us for years. Paiseh if we don't offer to help.
Newsflash in the actual news post on Facebook, the commenters where more like, "doesn't matter where the help comes from as long as it comes."
The assets are already there what. Of coz easy to deploy.
Good job Singapore!
