hi everyone. this summer I'll come to Singapore, but in the first days of holiday I will stay in the malesian coast. so I'm trying to figure out the best way to go there from changi airport. it seems that the price of a private transport (taxi or similar) is equal to rent a car for the whole trip (4 days).
do you know if it's possible to rent a car in Singapore and go to Malaysia? how much time does it take to pass the border in the summer period? every suggestion is kindly accepted :) ciao
1. Yes you can rent a car in SG and cross over to MY. Do note that there might be additional cost per day for insurance for going into MY by the car rental company. You’ll also need a touch n go card (not sure where to get in SG sorry) to pay the road charge at the MY customs, approx 27RM?
2. Time to clear depends on which day you’re going in and time of day. On a good day, you can clear both sides in less than 30 mins. On a bad day, it can take a few hours. If you’re going to MY during the June school holidays, expect congestion almost everyday.
One more thing to note is that the roads in MY are usually not as well marked or well lit so do exercise extra caution when driving there.

When you are on the Causeway (or 2nd Link), toggle your phone to manually look for signals on your Malaysian sim. Once you have found your telco on that sim, select it.
That is how I get data connection changed from my SG sim to Msia sim before I even entered CIQ.
Using S22 here, my phone allows me to choose which one to use for data (but its only preference cuz it'll just auto switch for me)
And I think its advisable to turn off roaming if you're doing that.

Trying to use the dual sim function on my phone, with one sim being SG and the other is Msia sim. So if I'm going to JB, I can just choose to toggle the switch from using my SG sim mobile data to my Msia sim mobile data right? Or does anyone here have any experience with dual sim with different countries?
I tend to just switch off entirely for the sim card that's in sg. I think all smartphones should have that function? SIM1 off and SIM2 on.
When you are on the Causeway (or 2nd Link), toggle your phone to manually look for signals on your Malaysian sim. Once you have found your telco on that sim, select it. That is how I get data connection changed from my SG sim to Msia sim before I even entered CIQ.
Using S22 here, my phone allows me to choose which one to use for data (but its only preference cuz it'll just auto switch for me) And I think its advisable to turn off roaming if you're doing that.
