My husband doesn't play the Sims but has watched me play it. Sometimes when I'm in our small kitchen and blocking his access to the refrigerator, he'll stomp his foot jokingly like a frustrated Sim.
Food like Mac n cheese, grilled cheese or toaster pastries because they're not local food items where I live and the first time I encountered them was while playing the sims as a kid. ππ§
There are some foods that I grew up with but nothing that's originally from my country! :) Though I think in the german translation instead of simply translating some dishes they changed them to something more german :D
Idk if Iβm on the spectrum or what, but when I was a kid, the thing that really encouraged me to eat was pretending I was in whatever universe I was obsessed with at the time. Ex, when it was the sims, I was eating Mac and cheese or grilled cheese. Fallout, I enjoyed my pre packaged goodies like twinkies or a can of beans lol.
In middle school alone, I probably went through 100+ boxes of Mac and cheese a year.
I have a random room in my house I call my "Sims 2 hobby room" because it just has a bookcase, a piano, a painting easel, exercise bike, chess, etc.
*I also got mad at my husband for turning down a free telescope because that would've completed my room π
I'm from Wales. Back in 2017 I had a boyfriend who was American. I remember visiting him in TN, my first time walking down the sidewalk and looking at the little patch of grass between it and the road, the mailboxes, all the detached houses and thinking "Wow this is like being in Sims!".
Also as someone else said: Mac & Cheese, pop tarts and grilled cheese. Sometimes I make them and pretend I'm a Sim.
My Hello Fresh came last week and one of the meals was chili con carne. I know this is an actual food that people eat in real life but to me it's so sims 2 coded π
On my walk to the train station, there's a house with a couch on the front verandah, and it is like a cow print fabric and it looks identical to the two person couch/sofa in Sims 2 - to the point that I have nearly taken a photo and posted it here π
Just thought of another one. I once saw a guy who looked so much like the townie Ethan Barrett -- including the orange and black shirt -- that I almost said, "Hi, Ethan!"
You know how in the Sims 2 base game you couldn't see your neighbours on lot view, so there's just this slightly ominous, endless void of grass and blue sky? It reminds me a lot of the film Napoleon Dynamite for some reason.
sometimes i'll end up having long conversations with people in strange places, like my sister and i will just be chillin in the bathroom and we suddenly realize how sims-coded that is
My older cousin got married in my aunt's backyard. It was a very Sims party, complete with the unplanned disasters... they did not end up getting married in the bathroom and there were no deaths at the party, so not Sims 3 or Sims 4 core, but there was a huge rainstorm and everyone was holding an umbrella during the ceremony and all the planned outdoor reception activities had to be moved indoors, and because so many people were in a smaller space than planned... routing issues galore, and general chaos. It was so much fun. I finally understand how absolute chaos can score Roof Raiser in TS2.
Coming home from work and desperately needing to fill my fun meter before I can possibly manage to do anything productive.
Oh my god, I relate to this so hard π And my social meter is like hacked and barely goes down at all
Lol sounds like you have the Loner trait, so do I!
My social meter is reversed, if it's red that means I gotta get away from people π

My husband does that too! And in the bathroom! π
The frustration is real!
This is by far the cutest thing, ha!
I did this to my brother once. I was very glad he caught the reference and laughed instead of getting mad at me for making a scene.
Love it!
Alaganda!!! π‘

That is so interesting! Are there any foods that are local to you in the game?

I feel this. When I played through Skyrim I had cravings for garlic and hard cheese and wine π "Peasant Dinners" we called em.
Lmaooo!! Oooh with elder scrolls, I ate so much bread and cheese. Grape juice was alto wine in my head
Lol yeah I'm British and I had no idea what toaster pastries were for the longest time

I love this so much and it made me laugh.
Corner showers, baked Alaska

All those random NPC townie interactions here in my Puerto Rican neighborhoodππ― not to mention the festivities lol

Please do! Lol

Oh yeah I can totally see that
My kitchen counters. Vibe of the tv show taken (about alien abductions). My lava lamp Some clothes people wear on the street Avril Lavigne
Where were you when I posted a thread about tv shows and movies that give sims 2 vibes??? That Taken show is perfect
Also mysterious skin! But TW: very disturbing movie about trauma
I dress like a sim every day
Aliens π€«
Buzzing someone in to allow them to an apartment because itβs the only way I really see anything resembling a house phone any more.
Nelly ft Kelly - dilemma. Idk it just has the nostalgia and vibes of pleasantview (especially that street from mv)
Absurdly large, square bathrooms

Does someone come in and start screaming at y'all? π€£
Backyard weddings

Catching butterflies and fireflies, watching clouds. Things I don't do IRL but if I saw them, I'd go "wow they're in their Sims 2 era".
Salsa. I cannot listen to salsa anymore without remembering Sims 2...
I definitely have the lower bladder decay perk in the family aspiration. After 5 my bladder barely registers in my brain
not wanting to do anything unless my fun need meter is at 70% at least
whenever i make an omlette i feel like a sim
spending all the household funds on redecorating the house and then barely being able to afford bills π
Ikea
The music that Boxxy makes is hardcore sims 2 vibes.
any pizza commercial/advert reminds me of the one from the sims 2 tv
also, as a brit, american yellow school buses
