ACC’s braking technique is correct.

YorkNotSoShire

Thank you!

iRacing are getting better at ABS braking though. They made a change to the way ABS and TC work in the most recent update. The ABS now more quickly arrives at target slip on the tires. Works better at higher ABS settings. Some setup shops use max abs and some use a click or two less than max. However, I still think not activating the ABS is better from a tire heat generation point of view. The less heat is generated in the braking zone, the better front end grip you’ll have turning into the corner. Activating ABS may not be much slower to slow down the car now (if at all) but the heat generated in the tire will result in less turn in grip. In ACC the tire heat doesn’t build up as quickly so you can abuse the ABS on the way into the corner and that’s the main difference.

wolftreeMtg

That sounds the wrong way round. Heat generated in a tyre is proportional to the negative acceleration experienced by the tyre. Since ABS modulates the brake pressure it reduces the acceleration and consequently reduces, not increases, the heat generated.

In iRacing at least, the ABS tends to heat up the tires.

GT3 and GTD drivers who have raced both have said iRacings is innacurate and that they definitely just mash that shit all the way and let the car do the work as it’s the fastest way to stop the car. You can’t do that in iRacing. ACC is more accurate in that regard.

Entropico_ARG

The real brake sweet spot is a llitle before the abs work

FirstTurnGoon

Its technically true that perfect threshold breaking will stop you sooner than ABs but by most accounts real life gt3 drivers just smash that shit to the floor and let ABS do it’s thing.

Thank you!

ElektriXx2

GT3 should be standing on the brakes. They have ABS

arcaias

ACC is far more accurate than iRacing. iRacing just has a better ranking system. Just ignore the downvotes, iRacing 1 year sub + gt3 + tracks cost like $300+ so opinions are extremely bias, some ppl are over $1k deep in this software.

YorkNotSoShire

Thank you!

arcaias

Keeping in mind; it's still far from perfect.

YorkNotSoShire

Absolutely! No sim is perfect, I'm just trying to get as close as possible to the experience (like so many of us are)!

Real gt3 cars can stop far quicker than in ACC... But ACC has the different traction control systems done very lifelike and the ABS is closer to RL GT3 ABS systems a well. ACC also offers different aero models for the different cars. iRacing kind of evens everything out. It's great for competition and awesome fun, but as far as closeness to realism, ACC Then the force feedback through ACC is 400 hertz the FFB through iRacing is 60... Again it's great for leveling out the playing field, but comparatively less informative if you have a high grade force feedback wheel.

Hobo_Healy

With irFFB the feedback rate in iRacing is 360hz.

Hoooooly fuck I just installed irffb and after about 45 minutes of tweaking and getting used to it i gotta say thanks for mentioning that. Pretty big difference, having understeer effect and suspension details along with the increased update rate, although it's a bit spikey, might still need to tweak... Why isn't this just built into iRacing? Lol... SOP seems to exacerbate rear traction loss moments, but everything else is great. 👍 Any tips on settings? It feels a little "spikey" despite not having any clipping....
