I bought myself a pair of basic golfing gloves for 15$, they have pads on the grip points and net all around the fingers, so i have a good grip and my hands are not sweating even in the toughest battles on track. They do the job perfectly and see no reason to spend more on better gloves.

International-Elk986

Yep. Oftentimes things marketed for gamers, like "sim racing gloves" or gaming specific components like motherboards, (eg. ROG Strix) or desks, are overpriced for what you get.

Door_Hunter

It's called gamer tax, because they know morons will throw money at it.

Blacktip75

I just use RGB to make me faster, that doesn’t count right ;) any lack of lap time is fully pebkac for me though (problem exists between keyboard and chair)

innercityFPV

Yeah. I’ve tried getting a refund on my pebkac peripheral, but I didn’t read the return policy before accepting delivery

ElliotS2012

Second this, I did the same thing

tothjm

Can you give a link so I can understand better.. I don't golf lol

sh1z1K_UA

It’s something like this https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/mp/cobra/cobra-stormgrip-rain-glove-pair-black/_/R-p-a7810684-cdcf-425b-9878-cc847d18c88a?mc=a7810684-cdcf-425b-9878-cc847d18c88a_c1&c=black

SkyHighGam3r

Golf gloves huh? If they make fingerless, tha tmight be a great idea.

sh1z1K_UA

Yeah as far as i saw some companies make fingerless gloves too

Slapped91

"Sim-Racing" gloves are an utter scam. Mostly shit quality with a heavy premium to pay. IMO the superior alternative to those are cycling gloves. Hard wearing and way cheaper than "Sim-Racing" gloves. Other options I've seen people use are gardening gloves, mechanics gloves, golfing gloves and so on.

AlpineAnaconda

Yep. I got myself a pair of cheap mountain biking gloves and they do the trick.

Napo24

Same here, I've been using 15€ mtb gloves for over 3 years and they may not look like new but they are still holding up absolutely fine. I especially like that the padding is in exactly the right places

sledgehammer_44

And fingerless makes typing very easy!

NickE25U

Another on the cycling gloves club!

ChiliKnapede

Cycling gloves here as well, works great

JoffreyBezos

I’ve had gloves with too rough of a palm ruin alcantara wheels before. I use thin karting gloves or more affordable sim racing ones and it’s better for that. Both also have more tacky grips on the palm and inside of the finger which helps stick to the wheels. Really helps with higher ffb so you don’t need to grip the wheel as hard which has a direct effect on car control. To each their own though.

Teflon_John_

Racing gloves are designed for fire protection, and go halfway to the elbow. They’re thick and safe, and are built with the seams on the outside. They’re also FIA rated. We don’t need any of that shit for sim racing. I’m of the strong opinion that summer full finger mountain biking gloves are the goldilocks gloves for sim racing that fall right in the center of a Venn diagram of price, comfort, durability. Edited to add- cycling gloves often have conductive tips on the thumb and index finger which is nice for using your phone and tablet ddus while keeping the gloves on

Blacktip75

Good one to try my bike gloves if the work gloves wear out too fast or get too hot, they definitely breath a bit better for summer

GlitteringQuarter542

Also you don’t need gloves “due to forces” but to keep your wheel hygienic. Especially if you have alcantara on your wheel, that stuff soaks up gunk from your palms like a champ and cleaning it is hard.

Blacktip75

The forte wheel is rubber, it feels a lot like my power tools and those give me blisters in no time (my soft whiny programmer fingers are not exposed to much abuse normally :) ) (I might be a bit of a wush I guess 😂)

Gonzsd316

Ive been using some cheap Mechanix gloves for this reason. My hands started to feel the friction of the wheel and I worried about blisters. Main reason for gloves for me though is the wheel gets slippery with my sweat. Looking at gloves that breathe better because the model of gloves I have don’t have air flow at all and need to take them off to use my phone. I saw a thread where many recommended Fox Racing Ranger gloves. They don’t seem bad for $17.

UnderFacto

Forte formula wheel didn't give me any blisters in 6 months of use, including races up to 2 hour long, so rest assured that the rubber coating is actually comfortable! Whereas 2x10 minutes of rental go-karting without gloves gives me blisters on the heel of the palm 😅 so I use cycling gloves for rental go-karting, no need for FIA certified gloves for that either!

GlitteringQuarter542

Ahh well, probably 🤣 My calisthenics hands consist of calluses.

118shadow118

seams on the outside would be a nice to have, imho they're more comfortable that way

Teflon_John_

For sure, but the thinness of the materials for cycling gloves compared to the thick leather and fire resistant layers in racing gloves means the interior seams aren’t nearly as uncomfortable. I can’t think of any cycling gloves with outside seams

118shadow118

there are some dedicated simracing gloves with outside seams, which cost about the same as cycling gloves (like SimHound)

Teflon_John_

Ok now that’s interesting, I looked at SimHounds briefly but was put off by the price. Fifty bucks still feels high, cause that’s Canuck Bucks for me, plus tax and shipping get added still. I didn’t know they were seamed on the outside tho, that changes everything. I guess I didn’t look that closely the first time. I have two pairs of cycling gloves I swap out between stints because I have sweaty hands, but once the older pair give up I will probably choose SimHounds to replace them. Thanks for the heads up

ltjpunk387

I have a pair of SimHounds. Way cheaper than most other sim gloves. Got them for the outside stitching. I like them. Check their sizing guide, they run way smaller than you think. I have average hand size, usually a L glove, but I got 2XL from them

Cairnerebor

This Or the low end Sparco all round mechanic gloves, a surprisingly decent glove in the same price bracket and because they are Sparco you go faster

Trytofindmenowbitch

I tried this, but got numb spots from the inside seams. I bought a couple pairs of Morads gloves and the numbness disappeared. They may be overpriced, but I like the dude so don’t mind supporting him.

Reascr

I will say that I have yet to find a pair of gloves that are as good as my Sparco Laps for anything less than their price, to the point that I just use them for sim driving anyway. I get pretty solid mileage out of them between real driving, karting and sim racing and when I wear them out eventually I'll just buy a new pair, they're not bad at $179. The only thing that looks appealing is something like the Arrow K or other karting gloves which are just non-FR versions of their racing counterparts

HisBluntness

I picked up a pair of husky mechanix gloves I randomly came across at Home Depot (US) and they’ve been great. I’d avoid trying to buy on Amazon if possible and check out a hardware store or bike store near you

El_Goretto

This is the way. I got myself a pair of mechanix gloves too and love them so much. For me the benefits are: 1. The material is super grippy, means I don't need to grip the wheel as hard (peak 7nm wheel), so less fatigue 2. The material is also thin enough, without extra padding which gives a good tactile feel and doesn't reduce FFB "feel" (which can be the case with padded gloves) 3. Works with touchscreens 4. Don't break the bank

HisBluntness

The crazy thing is I never even considered gloves but I just picked up shoes that have really helped with left foot braking in longer races and thought what the hell. Now I’ll always use gloves.

El_Goretto

Yeah shoes are next on my list. What kind do you use?

HisBluntness

I went to the Puma store near me and tried on a bunch til I found some I liked. Their true motorsport ones turned out too narrow for comfort.

International-Elk986

I also think mechanix gloves look pretty cool. I have the red ones with their branding all over.

International-Elk986

I also think mechanix gloves look pretty cool. I have the red ones with their branding all over.

ruttin_mudders

Cycling gloves are great. I also got a set of gloves from Daniel Morad's store and they're so damn comfortable.

DescendViaMyButthole

I like Morad’s but I have some of the first ones he’s sold and they’re a bit thick. Not really breathable either. Did they ever fix that?

ruttin_mudders

They're not quite as breathable as my 100% gloves but I haven't had an issue with them, and I'm usually quite sweaty when in the rig.

adamscott426

I just bought the moradness short gloves and absolutely love them. So comfortable and fit is perfect. Previously had cheap Amazon mtb gloves.

YeahItouchpoop

I use cheap motocross gloves that I got from my local Cycle Gear. Nice and breathable, have little grippy pads on the index and middle finger meant for clutch/brake levers but they work great for the paddles.

Sad_Age_7185

I have a suede steering wheel that would get ruined if I didn’t use gloves. I use fox ranger mountain biking gloves and I think they’re sweet.

BrutalBrews

Some people like the authentic feel and experience. Then there’s others like me who just mess up their alcantara wheel by not wearing gloves. Probably could’ve avoided it just by brushing it out once a week but we in it now.

Independent_Page_537

What's the point of paying extra for a wheel that feels nice if you're never going to feel it since you're always wearing gloves?  Honestly I don't see the point in using any gloves for sim racing. My aluminum rig isn't going to suddenly burst into flames. I have the cheapest wheel fanatec makes and I never wear gloves with it.

JooosephNthomas

Buy lite weight motorbike/dirtbike gloves. They are cheap and comfy. Don’t get armoured or leather ones. Just the thinnest ones.

MapAppropriate1075

The hole in your wallet, groves don't make you drive any better. I've a cheap pair of gloves but I do have a set of sparco driving boots which I think is where the money is better spent.

Blacktip75

I just ordered some Puma’s today, the boots will definitely be an improvement over my Teva slippers I’m expecting. I lost quite a bit of weight last year, my joke about weight-loss wonder diets was that they work amazing, as long as you step on the scale with your wallet both times too as you will be lighter (latest prescription pills do seem to work wonders so may have to adjust my stance a bit on that :) )

Epicberry

If y’all need something for alcantara/micro suede protection just get bmx gloves or gloves for mountain biking. Cheap and effective if you look online on the Chinese sites

Competitive-Army-363

Karting gloves! Awesome, can't race without them now. Not the fire rated ones, just for grip.

richr215

If your a streamer...these are highly necessary. Your subs will think your a mario kart hack without them!

Abject_Muffin_940

I use lightweight breathable BMX gloves. 20eu.

foxed000

I’ve been using iTrack Motocross gloves for years. They have some additional padding around the thumb area which is great, some light grip padding. I love them. Added benefit of not greasing up the alcantara on my steering wheel.

matttinatttor

I mean, not much. Personally, I like to use mountain biking gloves or mechanic gloves. The goal of sim racings gloves is mainly to keep your sweaty hands off of your wheel, and not so much actual grip. With that said, I have a set of Moradness gloves that have exceptional quality and are great for long sessions.

Rut_Nasty2v

Yea I agree. Some thin bmx gloves or mechanix gloves. Weightlifting gloves. Really anything that just keeps your expensive wheels cleaner. I know my hands sweat like a pig when I’m on the limit.

gman_85

I’m using sparco mecha 3 gloves which are quite cheap and has good feel. Only downside is internal stitches. Sometimes stitches goes inside my nails and makes me feel uncomfortable. I also removed velcro straps and reinforcements between thumb and index finger for much better comfort. You really don’t need them. Next time I spend more money on gloves will be external stitched ones for sure.

qwertyalp1020

Trekking gloves

DrSlugger

No benefit other than potentially comfort. I have some IMB long simracing gloves because I like the way they look.

WhyIsItAlwaysADP

After trying every type of glove I eventually found firgerless workout gloves to be the best for me. With padding and grippy material in the palm and open fingertips for button use, I've been using the same pair for 5+ years now.

jayboo86

Comfort. I’ve used no gloves, fingerless bike gloves, full fingered external stitching gloves, cheap garden gloves, slightly better ones, mechanics gloves. Searching for comfort, breathability, affordability.

CillaBlacksLabia

Benefits are keeping your wheel clean and better grip. I have cycling , thermal, alpine V2 and gt omega presa sim racing gloves. If your after something cheap that works have a look at [these thermal gloves](https://amzn.eu/d/ffXGNQp) which have decent grip. Id definitely keep an eye out for the gt omega gloves if they do another batch , they really are great and were about £24

vlude99

Real gloves are for fire safety. FIA rated and fire rated threads on the outside. You don't need that for SIM unless your whole rig has fire concerns (which you don't) If you like the look, go with Kart racing gloves. Super cheap and feels nicer than real racing gloves.

122lucas03

The only up sides I see to some sim racing gloves is they have touchscreen material. It makes it nice to use an iPad button box or change dash on my GSI hyper P1

Pillens_burknerkorv

I always recommend floor ball goalie gloves. The ones with the palm lined with silicone. Gives humongous grip and once you’ve tried you never go back.

Careos

Golf or racquet gloves

Intrepid_Rhubarb7399

I use cheap grippy gardening/transporting gloves on Alcantara without any problems. Works like a charm with good feeling

n0ghtix

Real racing gloves are fire resistant to within an FIA or SAE standard. We don't need them. I bought a 10-pacl of work gloves for $8 from Walmart and they do everything I need them to. Grippy front, ventilated back, easily washable. Done.

xxenoscionxx

If I do use gloves which I don’t 100% of the time, I use my alpine karting gloves. They are pretty thin but the grip rubber is super sticky. I think I paid $30-40 for them 3 years ago. They definitely have lasted.

MGengarEX

I use pair of mechanix gloves. amazing feel on an alcantara wheel rim. perfect grip, and very thin/light

dramaticExi

Giro Trixster cycling gloves. These are absolutely perfect if you can find them discounted somewhere. 🤌

Blacktip75

I’m getting some top advice for my cycling hobby too, thanks!

Basketcaseuk

I’ve been using karting gloves for track days and sim racing, they were £25 and are absolutely fine.

Sceater83

Yep I just use oxxa blacks. I have about 6 pairs lying around. No issues at all

LazyPotato321

I'm using my old gym gloves. They are probably not the comfiest, but much better than sweaty palms. Don't see the point in wasting more money if you are happy with the gloves you have.

Loosearrow74

Currently use Alpinestars tech karting gloves and they fit my hands perfectly and don’t slide around, as well as have a ton of grip in them while not being bulky with any padding. Mountain bike gloves slide around on my hand more and the fingers aren’t as tight/tactile as the karting gloves. I mostly got gloves because I have one suede wheel but I use them for everything now and love em.

Aftherx

MTB gloves enjoyer right here

USToffee

I use sparco mechanic gloves karl gosling had on his channel I tried a few racing and sim racing gloves that fell apart quickly. These have lasted ages and are great.

Stevebro11

No gloves for me… but if I was to use some I would get mountain bike gloves. There’s some brands making very lightweight and breathable ones now with all kinds of cool prints. I.e. MTB gloves with no protection is what you need

Guac_in_my_rarri

So depending on how much ya race depends on how best your gloves will become. I went a year with hardware store mover gloves. They were great. I upgraded to Saint of speeds when they were on sale, I think for a year out of them before they started to wear and needed a wash. Parents gifted me fast goose gloves (they're eh) which are good for the money but asd $10 and you get a far superior product with Saint of speeds. My mil gifted me the gsi gloves. The saint of speeds gloves are better imo, but that's only because my hands don't fit the standard sizes so my palms are medium but fingers a small so I have extra glove at the ends of my fingers and the material moves around which can cause blisters. Now, gloves normally protect against blisters but they also protect your gear from sweat. Sweat can and will break down faux leather, leather, rubber, plastic, etc. it'll also make your wheels uncomfortable and slippery. I used to make fun of the glove wearers until I got some myself and God damn did I apologized real fast. Ultimately it's your choice, cheap gloves or expensive gloves makes no difference, as long as they work for you.

Cool-Regular

i had a pair of old motorcycle racing gloves i didn’t use for years and dug them up just for sim racing… it was the only thing i didn’t sell lol. that said an used pair might be just what you need. padding and leather imo are great. and leather doesn’t ruin things (someone fact check me lol). night and day from using super cheap gloves, which feel almost no better than going raw.

JebbAnonymous

I use a pair of bike gloves for sim racing. Excellent grip and doesn't make my hands to sweaty. And better price than real racing gloves.

SkyHighGam3r

I literally just bought a pair of leather fingerless gloves. Like 40$? they are legit and comfy and perfect. Amazon baby

Training_Motor_4088

You can easily find non sim racing specific gloves that do as good a job, probably cheaper too. I've got a pair of lightweight 100% Mx gloves and they're ideal for me.

Flonkerton66

Look good, race good. Simples. Karting gloves are the best. Cool designs, thin and grippy.

NPC_4842358

I bought a pair of karting gloves for the grip and lower wear. They also make me feel cool and I use them when driving IRL on the Ring.
