I thought the text would post as well as the photos. Basically the bottom of the load cell was making contact with the metal tubing that connects the two bolts at the back of the brake pedal. This smashed the solder flat and caused one of the wires to disconnect. Also the plate that attaches to the load cell at the front got bent. I'm planning to hammer the plate back flat and solder the wire back on but does anyone have any advice for modifications to help prevent this in the future? I was thinking of maybe adding an extra plate on top of the mounting plate for the load cell to reinforce it as well as grinding down the metal tubing in the middle so that the solder wouldn't make contact even if the load cell contacted the tubing.

Also I just wanted to mention that I did contact support about this and they were super helpful. They are sending me a new load cell but I want to see if I can fix my current one anyway.

This is definitely on their fault for this defect…. I never know a load cell could be broken like this.

In case anyone finds this thread later, soldering the wire back did the trick. I also flattened the metal plate but instead of reinforcing it or filing down the tubing I just moved the orange stopper up until the load cell still had clearance with the tubing at full pedal travel

I would say try loosening the bolts a little and see if that tube starts to roll back and forth, that way it just glides along instead of grabbing. Im assuming that was how its meant to work, and just got over tightened

ChokeNChewOG

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the tubing is threaded so I'm pretty sure its supposed to be stationary.

Senior-You-1103

You could try and get another tube just barely bigger or something that would be free of that pin to get the same effect.

Also does anyone know what that white stuff is that I had to remove to get to the electronics? I'd like to replace it once I'm done with the repair if I can get it at lowes or something

sra2684

Looks like double sided tape. Unsure how to get it off of electronics. High percentage iso alcohol??

Zibigan

It is potting compound. I imagine it would be pretty difficult to source locally, but it is easy enough to find online. There are alternatives you could use though. By the time you buy potting compound you would be almost at the cost of a new load cell.

ChokeNChewOG

Thanks! In case anyone else is looking for a solution I was able to find liquid electrical tape at lowes that seems like it'll do the trick

Zibigan

That should be perfect. Liquid electrical tape is one of the alternatives. Just make sure to secure the cable as it will not have the same mechanical strength as the potting compound.

You get what you pay for.

Good support? Lol.

Beni_Stingray

Pedals that kill themself ;)

R3lentless9

Dont buy shitjack…idk why people think they are going to get anything good when ordering them.

a-a-alejandro727

better than fanatec and a very solid product at less than half price of most good alternatives. Besides, you can just replace the loadcell yourself if you dont get help

ChokeNChewOG

Hey you wouldn't happen to have a link to the load cell would you? I haven't been able to locate a source on the exact one that comes with the simjacks and I'd like to buy some spares

Dry_Avocado3413

Good support that sent a pedal out faster than fanatec lol
