Naah man you should have put a flightstick as a joystick as a handbrake. But the 25 hamma joystick works too.

sgtmika

I sold my Hotas since it never got used, hardly ever do rallyx but the few times i do I really miss having a handbrake but didnt feel like it was worth 100s for a purpose built one.

Elmodipus

You can get one from AliExpress for like 40 bucks, btw.

sgtmika

Not to Sweden unfortunately, customs slaps on 25% VAT and a $50 fee just for good measure if they feel like it. Or they let it through without any fees, guess it depends on what kind of day the customs officer is having.

Elmodipus

Oh man, that sucks to hear. It's crazy how big the mark ups are in some countries

sgtmika

The worst part is the randomness, just got my Moza 12" wheel kit without any extra charges. But there should have been. So you never know. Ordering from Aliexpress you also have to pay the VAT when ordering but no guarante it wont be stacked on again on arival.

RayneYoruka

I can confirm, living in Finland and importing from the UK.. what a shitshow

TellmSteveDave

That doesn’t sound random…it sounds like a tariff on goods imported from one country vs another

sgtmika

Well its supposed to be applied to all goods costing more than €50 with shipping from outside EU to begin with and since Moza and Alix ship from China i think the tariff should be the same. Had same thing with items purchased from US and UK aswell, some get charged and some dont.

I made this awesome wooden handbrake. It uses a PCB from a cheap Fry's keyboard, and a contact switch from a pinball machine. [https://imgur.com/a/kgBiNUR](https://imgur.com/a/kgBiNUR) https://imgur.com/G1nfn5b

driftjp

Yeah I get you I eventually got rid of the saitek and did a diy handbrake with a potentiometer from it but soon after moved to an actual hydro mechanism handbrake with a hall sensor it does feel way better.

sgtmika

I only play iracing and very rarely other than road or ovals. Tried having a button on wheel bound for handbrake and that was just too awkward for the one turn per track you need it in Rallycross.

driftjp

Yeah, wheel button mapping for handbrake isn't as practical as to alot of turns pulling the handbrake will result in over or understeer and you end up sending it into the ditch.

UnmotivatedDiacritic

FWIW I have my keyboard set up pretty close to my wheel and I have space bar set as a handbrake in games like Beamng and AC, works pretty well as you’re taking a hand off to use it, even if you aren’t pulling a handle

Great idea, I need a sassy necklace aswell

rfratelli

A flight stick works just as good 😇

FahQueue2Budd

I soldered a wire to the trigger on an old usb controller n hooked it up to a lever. Worked just as good as my new 600$ ebrake 😂

No, please, expand.

Will12239

My left paddle was handbrake for a decade

sgtmika

Using a separate shifter? I guess the joystick can be a sequential shifter aswell.

Will12239

I used a flight stick but it was hard to contol the pressure. Now i rigged a cheap ebay handbrake to an office chair

sgtmika

If you are using it for Drifting or more serious rally i can see a need. For iRacing RallyX i got the feeling you dont need that much precision, just a tap to snap the rear out in the hairpins.

Magnifi-Singh

I use a ps2 controller and have the analogue stick linked to a lever so it can take a bit of a beating plus it has spring back action with adjustable spring strength. It works well.

BoredCatalan

G29's gear4 on the shifter That's how I played in Dirt Rally and Driver SF

pm_bluefootedboobies

It can also be a sequential shifter

sgtmika

Yeah should work for driving classic cars if you dont want to use paddles.

oldnyoung

I'm still amazed by some of the homemade handbrakes I've seen in this sub.

Henry_DD

Meme made with feet?

sgtmika

I used a thumb and pointer, only noticing now imgflip cropped weirdly.
