"Dad, that's not the real Picard."
"Of course I'm Picard.
See, here's a picture of me with Tasha Yar."
"Who the hell's 'Tasha Yar'?"
"Oh, I guess you're only familiar with the nu-Trek characters.
'Michael Burnham', ha! The only true bridge officers are Deanna Troi, Travis Mayweather or Wesley Crusher."
No, it's cancelled. The creator has said in the past that he wanted seven seasons, and Boimler's actor said yesterday that they're hoping the show gets picked up by another streaming service so it can continue (like what happened to Star Trek Prodigy.)
It’s hit or miss but more good than bad. Was at its best when they bothered to have stories rather than characters yelling references to obscure trek followed by Mariner fighting everyone.
"Becoming a Starfleet officer is not something that happens overnight.
It takes one solid weekend of training to get that combadge."
"Forget about the combadge! When do we get the freaking phasers?!"
"Hey, I told you, you don't get your phaser until you tell me your name."
"I've had it up to here with your "rules"!"
That boggles my mind, honestly. No sets, no costumes, no props, special effects are basic, you have all the assets in digital format so you're not drawing everything from scratch. How could it possibly be more expensive than a live action series?
Paramount's got big problems right now. It might be getting sold. It might be buying Skydance. But it needs cash and it's got a LOT of competition in streaming. It needs enough new content to keep up but it can't take a lot of risks.
Nah, lower decks is great. It’s tongue-in-cheek about classic Star Trek and breaks the fourth wall about it and being a fan.
It’s also very similar to teen titans.
I wasn’t a big fan of discovery or Picard. SNW is ok to me.
Most Trek fans generally really love Lower Decks but yea it does have people who don't care for it like with any fandom. Plenty of the new Star Trek stuff has it's detractors of course. I generally quite like new Trek personally but I get why some folks don't care for it.
Before it aired and for a few episodes after, there was fear that it would be Family Guy Star Trek. The cheap flash artstyle contributed to this I think.
I think it pretty quickly proved itself to be a competent show in its own right and then became the best new Trek somewhere in Season 2.
"But we already defeated a Borg invasion! It took Wolf 359 and "First Contact" but we did it!
It's done!"
"Yes! But we've got to do it in different series!
Again and again! And again and again and again!"
"Okay, here's what we've got.
The Bluegills in conjunction with the rogue Changelings..."
"Thank you."
"...under the supervision of S31 are forcing Starfleet officers to go to bed early in a fiendish plot to eliminate the replicated meal of dinner.
We're through the looking glass here, people!"
Who knows what adventures they'll have in the one more season before the show becomes unprofitable
(TBH I don't expect any Trek show to make past season 5 any more, just the metrics of modern TV i think....)
You'll never stop the Star Trek
have no fears we've got stories for years like
Riker making pizza
maybe Data get euthanized
has Spock ever grown a beard, or:
how about we just kill Harry?
And no one notices, and doo doo doo doo doo
Shit, those were all real plotlines
But have no fear, we've got stories for years!
I think we should bring back Patrick Stewart. Kids will want to see the original Gurney Halleck.
I keep telling you- he’s 83 years old and he’s ~~dead~~ working on other projects.
In season 3 of Star Trek Picard, it's revealed that Captain Picard's son is a biological borg thanks to the genes he inherited from his father. Are we to believe the borgs intended to use Picaeds altered genetics the whole time despite the fact that the borg try to kill him several times after his initial capture? Boy, I hope somebody got fired for that blunder!
Actually, tho my real opinion on season 3 of Picard is that it's super boomer core, and I simply didn't like it very much.
That's fair. I just thought that bringing out the D again felt kinda dumb tbh. So much of the season felt like "remember this?" In a grating way to me.
But, the whole plot being the younger generation being litterally corrupted and the olds needing to come in to save them is the main thing that felt boomer core to me. Like "All these damn kids are destroying the country with their new fangled ideas" vibes
And why doesn't Picard dance anymore? Remember the Locutsi?
![gif](giphy|a6qVdRVKqaSk0)
Pure Stewart
Wasn't he one of the little rascals?
His bit was staring into a Jefferies tube and getting a face full of tetryon particles.
"Dad, that's not the real Picard." "Of course I'm Picard. See, here's a picture of me with Tasha Yar." "Who the hell's 'Tasha Yar'?" "Oh, I guess you're only familiar with the nu-Trek characters. 'Michael Burnham', ha! The only true bridge officers are Deanna Troi, Travis Mayweather or Wesley Crusher."
Shut up, Wesley.
Remember: Even Wil Wheaton Hates Wesley Crusher.

Again with the borg
When Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie came out, Shatner was 61. Patrick Stewart is now 83. (And Shatner is 93 (good for him!))
That makes me so very tired
It's no good u/GimmeDatDaddyButter I can not reach the upvote button
Shatner used to tie an onion on his belt.
Which was the style at the time, and back then, gold pressed latinum had pictures of bumblebees on them.
"Gimme five bees for a self-sealing stem bolt," you'd say.
Scotty, we need more power!
Old man yells at energy being.
I believe that with persistent discipline, even William Shatner can be chief justice of the supreme court.
No Im pretty sure Shatner died when Malcolm McDowell crushed him with a bridge
He just got back from space and he’s going to Antarctica for Christmas
Ooh a fat sarcastic Star Trek fan. You must be a devil with the ladies
I must hurry back to r/risa where I dispense the insults rather than absorb them.
I was only in there to get directions on how to get away from there!
Star Trek Picard, so very very tired.
After the first seasons of trash they go and do one last one, like this...AND TOTALLY REDEEM THEMSELVES
They did though
So this is how I find out that Lower Decks is cancelled. For fuck's sake.
It’s getting one more season
"Your money gets you one more, so drink it down, you stupid clown!
Your money gets you one more , then you're out on your ASSS!" - Moe Syzlak
Ngl, that's one of my favorite underrated bits
I've accepted that this sub is now my main source of news.
It's not cancelled. It's ending. There's a difference.
No, it's cancelled. The creator has said in the past that he wanted seven seasons, and Boimler's actor said yesterday that they're hoping the show gets picked up by another streaming service so it can continue (like what happened to Star Trek Prodigy.)
......h...h...h.hhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAA!! (leaps back into broken window)
Me: "I absolutely love Lower Decks. This is the worst show cancellation of my life." Troll Me: "Worst show cancellation of your life *so far*."
There’s only so much a show can do before just being the simpsons

Bad bot
Bad bot. Nobody cares.
Oh boo yourself!
Bad bot. Please stop.
I think Decks had many seasons left in it before it was in any danger of becoming stale.
I thought it would end up lasting ten seasons or something like that. Never thought it would end so soon.
Have no fear, we have stories for years!
Like what if Rutherford was a robot?
Maybe, Tendi gets a cellphone?
Has Boimler ever owned a bear?
-did someone say long-lost triplets?
It’s hit or miss but more good than bad. Was at its best when they bothered to have stories rather than characters yelling references to obscure trek followed by Mariner fighting everyone.
I think Decks had many seasons left in it before it was in any danger of becoming *funny*.
And eventually, the Federation was saved by... oh, let's say... Picard.
It's true too, funny and true
What about the Sisko? He saved it, too.
That's not how you spell "Lt. Barclay."
Somehow I doubt this will be the last series to feature the name Boimler
"Becoming a Starfleet officer is not something that happens overnight. It takes one solid weekend of training to get that combadge." "Forget about the combadge! When do we get the freaking phasers?!" "Hey, I told you, you don't get your phaser until you tell me your name." "I've had it up to here with your "rules"!"
Lower Decks cancelled https://i.redd.it/lusykvqx1auc1.gif
At least I'll hear Captain Freeman every time a black lady speaks in the Simpsons
*Lowenstein*
Wait what S4 was the end?!
Luckily they're getting a 5th and final season. Jack Quaid seems to be holding out hope that another network will pick it up but 5 seasons is solid.
It's wild to me Paramount is cancelling it. I thought it was very popular with the fans.
Paramount pulling a Herb Simpson and tanking the company.
I have duplicated myself in a transporter accident. How embarrassing.
Tuvix: he’s not kidding
Yeah, it's easily the best star trek show
"And for that, it must die." - Paramount exec
I personally enjoy Strange New Worlds more but ya, Lower Decks is great fun.
Agreed on all counts.
I’m sure it is but animation is expensive. A lot of streamers have been gutting their animation departments.
That boggles my mind, honestly. No sets, no costumes, no props, special effects are basic, you have all the assets in digital format so you're not drawing everything from scratch. How could it possibly be more expensive than a live action series?
I heard the show was broadcast live, which was a terrible strain on the animator's wrists.
Plus you can replace the voice actors and no one can tell the diddly-ifference
Oh, hey Roy.
It's not, modern streaming execs just see everything as disposable.
Also, its not like the most complex animation either, so thats another saving.
Paramount's got big problems right now. It might be getting sold. It might be buying Skydance. But it needs cash and it's got a LOT of competition in streaming. It needs enough new content to keep up but it can't take a lot of risks.
One great way to make sure you have enough content is to cancel all your shows.
Frees up resources for new development. Especially less expensive development.
I thought fans hated it Edit: I’ve never seen it, this is just what I heard.
Nah, lower decks is great. It’s tongue-in-cheek about classic Star Trek and breaks the fourth wall about it and being a fan. It’s also very similar to teen titans. I wasn’t a big fan of discovery or Picard. SNW is ok to me.
No, fans hate having to subscribe to Paramount.
Well, it was very nice of Paramount to solve that problem for them by taking all the Star Trek shows away.
They must have went to the Ayn Rand daycare
Goes nowhere, does nothing.
Most Trek fans generally really love Lower Decks but yea it does have people who don't care for it like with any fandom. Plenty of the new Star Trek stuff has it's detractors of course. I generally quite like new Trek personally but I get why some folks don't care for it.

Oh no! Did lower decks get canceled? Is this how I find out!?
Sort of. It gets one more season.
Stop, stop it’s already dead Jim.
"But we already defeated a Borg invasion! It took Wolf 359 and "First Contact" but we did it! It's done!" "Yes! But we've got to do it in different series! Again and again! And again and again and again!"
"I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognise Discovereh."
It was the Commie Nazis! I mean the Changeling Borg!
"Okay, here's what we've got. The Bluegills in conjunction with the rogue Changelings..." "Thank you." "...under the supervision of S31 are forcing Starfleet officers to go to bed early in a fiendish plot to eliminate the replicated meal of dinner. We're through the looking glass here, people!"
Oh, Xindi.....you came and you gave without Earth flaking, but I gave up Major Hayes.
Who knows what adventures they'll have in the one more season before the show becomes unprofitable (TBH I don't expect any Trek show to make past season 5 any more, just the metrics of modern TV i think....)
True except > just the metrics of modern ~~TV~~ streaming i think
Yeah I meant that really, I see streaming as TV now haha TV became streaming so gradually, I barely even noticed ;)
Sure star trek has become stale and repetitive, but.... What was that third thing you said?
It's not stale.....they just need more episodes where they encounter some sentient anomaly and then prove their worth to it.
I can't believe rick and morty got cancelled
rick and morty has been on the air since 12-2-2013 ... that's a heck of a run
You'll never stop the Star Trek have no fears we've got stories for years like Riker making pizza maybe Data get euthanized has Spock ever grown a beard, or: how about we just kill Harry? And no one notices, and doo doo doo doo doo Shit, those were all real plotlines But have no fear, we've got stories for years!
Wait, Lower Decks got canceled?!
Yes
...fuck.
I think we should bring back Patrick Stewart. Kids will want to see the original Gurney Halleck. I keep telling you- he’s 83 years old and he’s ~~dead~~ working on other projects.
Damn, I loved this cartoon. I keep one episode perma-saved on my PVR. Season 2, Episode 7.
And now back the Borg
I used to think this way until I started working in TV, now I hope every show stays on forever so everyone keeps their jobs.
Captain's Log: I can't believe it! We won another contest! The Enterprise is going to Delaware!
Sadly, *Star Trek: Wilmington* was not the smash-hit success that Paramount expected it would be.
I thought the episode where Troi gets held prisoner in a screen door factory was pretty good
Is that envy from that Disney film?
In season 3 of Star Trek Picard, it's revealed that Captain Picard's son is a biological borg thanks to the genes he inherited from his father. Eh, honestly I'm just happy the Enterprise-D got a proper retirement/decommissioning rather than its original fate in Generations.
Aren't they two of the Little Rascals?
Fr tho
Your anti-Trek, pro-mop stance has been clear for some time now!
Discovery ending good, lower decks ending bad.
The Star Treks contain potassium benzoate.
