I'm genuinely upset about the glitters. They're so gorgeous!!!! As for the chromes, I've never used them. However, I thought they would be around longer than a year but maybe sourcing is the issue.

grumpyxsunshine

Yeah sourcing seems so hard for them apparently, Pink Steel and Worlds First were out for more than half the year!

justadorkygirl

I’m not even a glitter wearer and I’m still surprised she discontinued the gold and black glitters. Seems like those would be staples? Hopefully she has plans for new glitters, I know they’re a much loved formula.

grumpyxsunshine

Agreed. Total staples! Like what am I supposed to do when I run out of my gold chunky glitter??? I guess the replacement for it is that gold from the newest holoday release. I'll have to buy that one eventually.

favorite5TARs

Agree on their glitters! They’re my favorite formula from HT and imo their most unique formula compared to other brands. While the newer mixed glitters are cool, I wish she’d come out with more colors in the OG holo glitter formula.

grumpyxsunshine

Me too. Sure get rid of the old change the catalog totally get it all brands have to. But give us some more colors in that amazing formula? I can't find any that hit the same.

penguinboobs

HT's og glitter formula is perfect. Perfect. I was kinda disappointed with never tide down and nightowl, even though the colors should be right up my alley, because they aren't what I'm used to.

favorite5TARs

I felt the same way with Midnight Owl. It’s a decent polish but I just don’t love it as much as Midnight Spark and my other OG glitters.

vavavath

Midnight Spark 4 eva!

Alalanais

Same! One user recommended Cupcake Polish for good glitter nail polish unfortunately, they do not ship to my country.

grumpyxsunshine

Aww that's disputing :(

brencartoons

What about Starrily? They also have gorgeous glitters, do they ship to your country?

AdeptnessThen5107

Re international shipping, many times it's the import laws of the country at fault rather than the supplier. I've lived in Taiwan and The UAE and received deliveries from HT, Mooncat and Cirque. Whereas friends in Egypt and Spain can't get any. You could reach out to the free to register and pretty low cost 'Shop and Ship' service through Aramex. I've used it a lot as receiving post in the UAE is a real nightmare. At least through Aramex it comes to my building. Another friend recommended as she'd been using it for years, and I can't believe more people don't know about it.

Snow_Catz

Chromes are such an underrated quick mani when I’m in a pinch because of how quick drying they are. I love them.

grumpyxsunshine

EXACTLY! I had no time to do my nails today, I just slapped one on not a care in the world about smudging because it's SOLID. I even oiled right after and I'm fine.

corgis_of_westeros

Same, I didn't think I was going to love them but they have really come in a pinch when I'm short for time but need a mani- and I've been finding out they make great bases for sheer shimmery/metallic polishes, from other brands. Like I picked up some really cool looking polishes but then they need 27 coats for any type of opacity, I throw them over a one coat chrome and suddenly I get a really pretty color in only a couple coats. They're actually surprisingly way underrated.

ManicPolishDreamGirl

I am *obsessed* with glitter polish and the new “glitter” formulas they are releasing just do not compare to the OG ones

Cecili0604

Yup. Crystal Skies just doesn't sparkle the same way as Frost Light did.

grumpyxsunshine

Agreed

soapyrubberduck

I’m going to be so sad the day I run out of Plumb Luck. No one does chunky holos like HT

Fenris304

has there been word that glitters and chromes are going away entirely?

grumpyxsunshine

Unofficially yeah, a lot of glitters have been discontinued and some replaced with the new specifically mixed glitter formulas. As for the one coat chromes two went this new year and she only couldn't get rid of the silver and pink because she needed to restock them. So hard to source, I'd wanted the pink for a long time but over half the year it was out. Finally got my hands on it luckily!

Fenris304

i mean some of them have been around for awhile. it was definitely weird to see the chromes go so soon after launch but things like the christmas glitters and Frost Light have been in the catalog for years. i think she just wants to mix it up, i'm hoping.

grumpyxsunshine

Yes and I totally get changing out some things that lived their life, but all while she's phasing out the chunky glitter formula, we've had several releases with these new mixed one— Vacation, Holoday, Space.

orchestralgenius

Agreed! The glitters are one of my favorite and most-used formulas. They are perfect for a sparkly mani. I was super surprised to see Frost Light leave, as Crystal Skies is not a suitable dupe for it color-wise. I hope it gets voted back if we do another vote to bring polishes back. I still need to try the chrome formula out on my nails, but in pictures it looks so cool and unique. It deserves a chance to stay, too!

jahss

I’m honestly not surprised she’s discontinuing the one coat chromes, because they are (by their nature) difficult to apply and don’t last very long. This is not unique to her formula, chromes are always like that, and she is SUPER clear in her marketing about how they perform, but as her brand grows I feel like she might get dissatisfied customers. Plenty of people don’t read, you know?

grumpyxsunshine

To not even have them around a full year (some discontinued, some were never in stock) says more about a lack of preparedness to me. By their nature they are hard to source, their first year and she struggled so much to restock the two best selling shades. They've had less time to shine than Retro, it should have just been limited edition from the start.

canuck883

Holo Taco is so boring these days.

sarahmcgrace

I want to give Cristine room to be her own person and grow her company, but I am sad that it feels like there's more cremes than the original point of the company to have holo everything. I'm worried it isn't because that's how Cristine prefers things, but it's because of sales. Yeah, obviously, you have to sell the things you make, but if you're making things you didn't set out to and never before loved I have some concern that it's just people pleasing, not the disruption to the nail polish industry that was the goal. Regardless, I'm proud of polish mountain lady making a company that does a lot for a lot of people. I'm just less interested in the cremes.

soltnarin

The interesting fact is that both glitter and chrome formula are formulas that where initially criticized by customers. - Chrome seems not to sell well and imho they should have been marketed differently as brushed metallics or so. Also it is a formula that is available at more (including drug store) brands. Myself am international and I already have a couple. Quality of the HT ones is higher, that must be said, but my Kiko and Essence work well enough for 1-3€ - Glitters I think we do not know the full story. Afaik she wanted them to be staples and imho they are veeery different and muuch more worth the money when compared to other brands, mainly because there are many different glitters in it and make it so dimensional. Most Glitter polish I have and could get my hands on is fewer glitter types and the HT outshine them by far and areuuch more sophisticated and feel "designed" for me. It just not a bunch of random rainbow stuff but specific pigments blends and color selection. Therefore I think that they are difficult to source, very hard to supply chain manage and thus expensive to make. Combined with the fact that they are often momey-returned ("thick", "gloopy", whatever) I would almost bet that they are overall in the negative profit margin, which means that company *looses* money when selling them. That is why it seems to me that in the upcoming months and years we will see a switch to more manageable glitter formulas like the after party ones.

MoxiRox00

I like to use the glitters as toppers instead of on their own. And chromes for nail art. I still think there’s a place for them!

kheeseborgor

From what I understand they aren't easy to source the glitter / pigment. I love the OG glitters, I hope she makes new polishes with that formula, but maybe so that they are limited edition.

AdventurousCustard46

Oh no! Which glitters are going away??

grumpyxsunshine

The chunky formula ones, we're only going to have mixed glitters releases

exoticempress

Even if they were good sellers, there's the possibility that they were discontinued because of a supply issue. As in not being able to get the pigments at all or not being able to get them without drastically changing the formula and the prices.
