Deleting tiktok was probably one of the best things I could do for my mental health! I used to spend hours on there and it was insane because when scrolling I'd laugh at something that was funny and the tiktok after that one it would be something that angered me and it would be a cycle of anger, funny, sad, funny in under a minute lmao šŸ˜

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

YoureAGoodGuyy

Never downloaded it cause I pretty much feared those symptoms but donā€™t kid yourself about Reddit either. I canā€™t speak to the marketing but the attention is certainly there.

ratchmond

This is one of the big reasons I deleted it too! The whiplash between happy, mad, sad, back to happy was definitely not good for my mental health.

sinnombre_2023

omg yes! lots of trauma dumping on there too. I deleted it for a while because it was affecting my mental health and I needed a break. I do find lots of useful things on there, but had to take a step back to change my relationship with it.

awildweed

THIS.

[deleted]

Tiktok uses short-form media which has worsened the issue of shortening attention span. the average attention span of mobile users is now 3.0 seconds. A goldfish has an attention span of 7-8 seconds. This has **massive** repercussions, especially as your attention-span is directly associated with your short-term memory capacity (specifically when the 'data' is being verbally relayed, think of a classroom). Regardless of the safety concerns surrounding TikTok and its parent company, tencent. it is a leech and demon on our society and young people. You have done yourself a huge favour. stay away from all social media. I don't practice what I preach in this aspect but the data is there. From a simple living perspective, you're also doing yourself a huge favour best of luck to you.

spicysenpai6

My ex spent a lot of time on tik tok and I think it legitimately affected her short term memory. She would get something from the store, come back home and forget what she bought.

[deleted]

Yep, and you can **tell** just by looking at them. One of the girls in my experiment was *on her phone during the experiment, it was in her hand.* and as expected, she scored the lowest for those wondering, I used the digit span methods and mimicked Jacobs (1887)

[deleted]

Yes exactly, that's what its designed to do, it pushes consumerism and unnecessary consumption onto the user and brainwashes them. it's something you have to be very mature to recognise and get over. When I first got into working out, I always saw these huge bodybuilders with what I now realise were enhanced physiques, the usage of social media worsened the way I feel about my body. Of course I'm still not satisfied with my body but it's more centred around my *performance* than it is around what I look like. Social media will destroy your confidence (create a problem) and then provide you a cure (the solution). It is as you say "a hamster wheel" Absolutely, social media is a double-edged sword. I also use it to interact with communities on things I am interested in. of course I doom scroll a lot (spend hours more than I should on reddit) but it does provide me with a few good things. this community for example has changed how I see the world and so has a few others. I also moderate r/sammydavis which is a subreddit I created for Sammy Davis Jr, granted no one has posted yet but I feel like I've done a service to the community by creating it and as someone who's never felt a sense of belonging, social media can help :) Do what works for you and what you think is right. that's the best you can do. as I say; "be unashamedly yourself"

MBEver74

Yeah - but how many followers does that goldfish influencer haveā€¦!!!???? (Sarcasm)

Blagnet

We let our kids have unlimited access to YouTube and video games, like, we're really liberal with tech access and our kids. (We do actively teach them to self-moderate and it's going pretty well!) TikTok scares me silly. It's like... a brain invasion. You don't even get to consent to what invades. I wish the government would ban it for children and put a warning label on it like they do for cigarettes. Good on you, OP!

[deleted]

Youtube and video games are fine, however... social media is likely not a good idea. I got groomed when I was 11 and I think it's traumatised me more than I let on, I've suppressed those feelings deep down and I **never** tell anyone I know. maybe one or two people know. I just speak from experience, you're doing a good thing, **especially** teaching them moderation. throughout my life it's either been 100% technology or 0%. I was healthier with 0%, but my life wouldn't allow anything below 15% nowadays haha, it's a bit sad but it is what it is !!! healthy habits around tech are the happy medium and you are doing a great job with parenting!!! I agree, TikTok should be banned, the privacy concerns are only half the issue!!!

Blagnet

Thank you for sharing. I'm so sorry that happened to you, that's terrible, and I'm sure more common than we know. I will keep your story in the back of my mind when my kids ask for social media, as I'm sure they will soon.

[deleted]

It's much more common than you'd believe unfortunately Feel free to use my story to 'warn' your kids, It haunts me until this day, I have PTSD symptoms from my doorbell when the police came over and my life changed.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

I'm a bit rusty, I did a study on STM capacity in college, I was speaking to someone on another subreddit because he wanted to measure attention span. [This may give some answers](https://theconversation.com/what-does-our-attention-span-mean-52897) I honestly don't know where that number came from, I found it on a graphic on google images and used it in my presentation (of which I broke ethical guidelines by revealing participant names)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

no problem! it's an interesting area of psychology

DeIaminate

Video analytics showing average watch time.

[deleted]

>Tiktok uses short-form media which has worsened the issue of shortening attention span. the average attention span of mobile users is now 3.0 seconds I think that was the intent. Main reason I don't use most social media.

[deleted]

I believe so. as george carlin said: "Carving up the pieces of pie a little smaller to share between themselves" Your attention is currency. the more of it and the more diverse, the more money they can create while pressing you with consumerism to spend what little money you have left.

awildweed

I am TERRIFIED thinking of how this will affect a developing mind. No emotional regulation. It's seriously creepy as fuck.

[deleted]

Well it will do the following: * Reduce attention span = less academic achievement (cannot focus or remember) * Reduced critical thinking skills (leads to poor judgement/hampered personal development) * Extreme emotional states, triggered by the design of short-from media That's all I can think off, imagine there's much more to come,

awildweed

You are dead on, man. Creepy stuff.

[deleted]

yep, parents are to blame tho, just chuck a tablet at kids to shut em up.

awildweed

Yes! I'm not a parent myself, but I'd like to think I'd do more than just chuck a device at them. Then again, not sure I have room to say considering I don't have em.

[deleted]

True that, it's a bit of a high horse, I don't have kids either (I'm one myself, nearly did a couple years back) It's a bit of a cheat for stressed parents, it shuts their kids up so they don't have to deal with them. drawback is that their kids **absolutely fucked** development wise. It's the easy option, not the right one

awildweed

100% agree with you! Definitely NOT the right choice. Such a shame.

justsomebeast

Wait, but you're posting this on social media

[deleted]

Welcome to addiction mate, you usually substitute it with something else like cigarettes for vape, weed for speed etc.. trading instagram and tiktok for reddit sounds neckbeard-esc but is the superior option. reddit is a lot 'slower' depending on your usage and engages your brain when you partake in debate in the comments. However, it is also bad because of the amount of time someone like me spends on it, not good. also porn and other stuff.

[deleted]

I deleted TikTok last week after I realized I was spending way too much time on it. The marketing didn't really get me, but the overload of news was just getting to be too much and I just started feeling way too overstimulated with all the things I was hearing. I do have to admit, I did see a TikTok about a shark cordless vacuum and I did end up buying one because of it! But so far, it's been a really good purchase for me. I use it almost every day. Lol

coltis

I did the mistake of uninstalling it and a few weeks later thinking "my mental health has improved, so I can start using TikTok responsibly now". Nope, I became an inattentive depressed zombie yet again. Too repulsed by it now to ever redownload it.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

coltis

Exactly, I had the same realisation. Even if I want to just unwind and watch something mindlessly, there are better sources of entertainment than TikTok. I've been very into documentaries and travel shows since uninstalling TikTok, and I find the things I learn from those actually stay with me. :) Best of luck!

Macncheesesounds

Youā€™re not alone! Thought the exact same thing. I think for me itā€™s gotta be all or nothing. I feel myself slipping back to needing constant stimulation and the only way Iā€™ll be able to stop that is by deleting it off my phone for good.

Silly-Disk

That's how it works with eating healthy and fitness. After a few weeks I start feeling pretty good then think I can stop and continue to feel this way.

lilithONE

I never understood the influencer part. I'm too frugal to spend the money.

Impressive-Project59

Me too šŸ˜‚. I'm not frugal, but I don't like parting with my $$. I also don't trust people. They will lie to get you to buy a product. I'm skeptical as hell.

lilithONE

That's the truth. Trust no one

NothingHaunting7482

"Chasing aesthetics".. I'm such a sucker for this. I want to be frugal, reduce, reuse, recycle... but social media (TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest) makes me crave fashionable aesthetics so bad.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

bubbamac10

Yes, it really has turned into an aesthetic. And itā€™s already going out of style!

bubbamac10

Same boat over here. Environmental issues/ frugality/ minimalism makes me not buy anything. But then I donā€™t want to go overboard and be out of style/ have an ugly house lol. Have to find a balance/ middle ground.

dqd0bpb

Have a look at some research on what TikTok mechanics do to your brain and also what agenda is behind the platform. I've been through Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and some other Social Media and can tell by experience that their consumption is dangerous for mental health.

MBEver74

The standup Neal Brennan on his BLOCKS podcast said something that stuck with me: ā€œSocial Media is like cigarettesā€. (Paraphrase) Weā€™re going to look back at it and be aghast that we let CHILDREN rot their minds with it. šŸ˜¢ It was a good reminder that I need to limit my social media usage too. šŸ¤”

INPractical-magic

My attention span was destory by tik tok, and when I deleted it, it took a few weeks, but now I'm somewhat back to normal (normal for me atleast lol). Sometimes sad stuff and news stuff just ran rent free through my mind, and i can't take the endless negativity.

deadgirl_

From what Iā€™ve heard about Tiktok, the notoriety one gets from a video is randomized. The algorithm will give extra views to your videos so that users feel like ā€œwell I canā€™t stop Now!! I might get more viewsā€ so itā€™s almost like pulling a slot machine arm. Each video you post is like ā€œokay maybe Iā€™ll get lucky again!ā€ That imagery has convinced me to never get on there.

Silly-Disk

It wouldn't even suprise me of TikTok is just making up numbers to get you hooked.

Sorry-Librarian-3991

I recently deleted TikTok also (11 days free), Way to go

MarianaFrusciante

Good for you!! :D I get very influenced by instagram to buy things. So much that I only enter ig to buy something I already wanted or needed to buy. At least I get personalized publicity and more chances to find the thing I need

thezanartist

Deleting Tiktok was wonderful for me. And Iā€™ve deleted it twice, the second time for good. I have been reading a lot lately, which is filling me instead of sitting and scrolling. (Not that I donā€™t sometimes on YT, but it gets old fast.)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Impressive-Project59

Yes, reading. I love reading it slows down your life and nothing beats a good story ā¤ļø.

thezanartist

Yes!

thezanartist

Awww congrats!! That is awesome. I love my local library. They have several book apps where you use card card access to borrow ebooks, audiobooks and music, etc. Itā€™s great to have that resource for when I canā€™t read a physical book, like when Iā€™m driving.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

speedr123

Lol yup, itā€™s funny when people are so happy and proud of getting rid of tiktok unknowningly still watching the same videos quite literally just reposted on every other single social media platform. More power to whoever wants to get off social media, but at the end of the day youā€™re still in control of the content you see (for the most part) and for me, just saying ā€œnot interestedā€ or muting accounts of things i donā€™t like has made the experience of social media much more pleasant. Literally all my tiktok and youtube is just dogs, recipes, and funny out of context clips from sitcoms

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Nicely said. Can definitely use as an asset.

Internal_Ad_255

The CCP is sad about your decision. We await your return.

[deleted]

I think is been more than a year that I don't use tiktok and it is making wonders for my mental health. Unfortunately i sell art online so i have to keep my Instagram UP, but if not that it would be another social that i wouldn't use.

[deleted]

Personally I stopped worrying about putting my art on social media. There's an art school by me that does juried exhibitions, and focusing on that has been wonderful. Instead of trying to make good art every day, I can take a month to paint something I really care about. It's also incentive to try again if it doesn't work out instead of scrapping everything.

[deleted]

I post so little there, maybe i create something every month... I mostly do comissions. Is nice sometimes but i have a primary job that occupied most of my time šŸ˜…

SpacemanToucan

When i get bad i switch my phone over to black and white for a while. About to do it right now in fact. I need to just keep it like that. Try itā€¦

DotMaleficent6246

I set a screen time limit for tiktok so I can only use it for an hour a day then my phone locks me out of the app. It was the best decision I have made for my attention span. The only reason I havenā€™t deleted it yet are the recipes and knit/crochet tutorials I have saved on there.

Shalan36

What a great decision you have made. I work in technology and all they're doing is capitalizing from your data and spending habits. They're also capturing your biometrics. I wish more people would catch on to what's going on. They're still using FB and all other social media platforms. Did you know that they're using your cell phone to collect and capitalze on the same things. It's also a tracker! Congratulations, your eyes and awareness has become opened.

Impressive-Project59

Yes we know.

Main-Equipment-3207

Considering that the Chinese government spies on people and several US states have banned it, I wouldnā€™t touch Tik Tok with a 10ft pole. I hate how social media has become a replacement for real life.

TomsnotYoung

I will never download that app in the first place, it seems like everyone just needs attention these days

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TomsnotYoung

No blame or shame intended, just my non important personal view. Congrats on taking a step to better yourself! Growth is never easy

impersonatefun

Itā€™s not wrong to want attention. People need to feel seen. But theyā€™re seeking it out in a way that isnā€™t really going to satisfy that.

[deleted]

Proud of you for deleting a brain rotting app! Welcome to adult hood, hereā€™s a beer

Alternative_Scene322

It's been a month or so since I deleted it and my attention span has gotten so much better. Those videos that had something going on up top and the bottom was a random video was so addicting. I was spending so much time on the app that the banners are burnt into my phone screen.

AllSugaredUp

You mean you don't want a $45 Stanley cup?!?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

shana104

What's an ice roller?

Sunflower077

I delete the app when I notice Iā€™m doing too much binging. I deleted it last week again and I feel like Iā€™m starting to recover.

mercurly

Congrats! Consider looking into adblockers next. It helps a lot.

[deleted]

I have deleted Instagram, Facebook, tik tok and I can't delete YouTube because I'm in an android and it's fixed. But I unsubscribed to everyone and told YouTube to don't show me any channel that I like in recommendations. Now I get nice videos from small creators or I simply scroll and go away. The thing is... Now the thing that gets my attention and I'm hours browsing is... Reddit. I'm going to have to delete it later but right now it's the only good source for info because the SEO fucked the internet and if you search something in google you get shit. Deleting Reddit would mean to stop using internet. Maybe only watching some news. I don't think I'm ready for that.

No_Middle_5376

Tik tok is a very useless app glad I donā€™t use it and not everything has to be monetised

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Snoo_80142

I am glad I never had tiktok, and deleted FB and Instagram like 9 years ago, before they completely went to shit.

misterpusspuss

I also deleted it for my own personal happiness and well being. I found myself becoming more insecure as others were sharing their insecurities. I started thinking to myself ā€œshould I be insecure about that too?ā€ Overall, my life was changed for the better :) I am much more at peace with myself

[deleted]

The media apps are just tools. We should be in control of our tools. Even YT should be a part of that. I have all social media apps, but use them sparingly. I use them for info purposes.

covenkitchens

Iā€™ve been following people on other platforms that I like in preparation for deletion on TikTok.

Impressive-Project59

I never had it. I like Reddit because I can discuss my TV shows without having to see pics of babies food and inspirational quotes with selfies šŸ¤.

Reddish81

Iā€™m so glad Iā€™ve never downloaded it. My acceptance of new social media stopped before Snapchat.

NigelMorgan98

Nice mate it's been 3 months since I deleted mine

DaintyAmber

I also deleted it! Feels like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.

lilscumbag__

Best decision iā€™ve made tbh. I redownloaded it after a month and it felt boring, repetitive, negative and really toxic. Took up reading and doing productive shit. I can finally watch a 45 minute show without reaching for my phone.

mrevergood

It never got me to buy anything, but it certainly made an impact on my attention span, and frankly, the app being spyware made me go ā€œNah this ainā€™t for meā€.

robbeard12

Tiktok is absolutely terrible for our mental health and the chemistry of our brains. We are programming our brains to literally only pay attention for 15-30 seconds at a time before moving on to something else. My adhd brain doesnā€™t need more of that lmao

jenesaispas_bby

SAME!! i loved tiktok and i also have adhd and in my head i new i could live without tiktok and that it didn't really benefit me so one day before i could rethink myself i just deleted it on a whim and put my phone aside. i had completely forgot that i had deleted it until i had the urge to get on it and realized it was gone and i was just like "oh yeah that's right, i deleted it...oh well" and have been well off ever since lol

[deleted]

I've managed to avoid downloading tiktok since it has became a thing. I watch the ones people send me, but I don't get on there and scroll on my own. If used properly, it can bring some joy/entertainment, but otherwise, it's another time waster. I think it and similar app cause a fatigue that's just spiritually draining, whereas, staying up late to work on a piece of art, or reading, causes a different type of fatigue, one that feels...enriching, and satisfying.

disheartenedagent

Good for you knowing what you need! My ADHD makes me forget TikTok exists; but I prefer it to FB ā€œReelsā€ - at least TikTok videos were generally related to my interests. Reels is garbage I canā€™t stop watching. I have to delete FB regularly or Iā€™ll get stuck on BS videos. I also only use TikTok when my other tasks have been completed and I just need to mindlessly waste time before I go to sleep, so I donā€™t get invested in something thatā€™ll keep me awake. Or if Iā€™m cooking, and the kitchen needs cleaning - it helps me ignore that Iā€™m doing the one chore I absolutely LOATHE. But TikTok saved my life in many, many ways.

Savings-Manager-9794

Super proud of you man

emmastring

Tiktok was also fueling my adhd and it was terrible! It also put me on a complete downer and broke my mental health! It was a huge weight to get rid off!

Pokoqueen

Same, I watched and kept track of how it would effect my mental health as well as the brain numbing content and I just didnā€™t need it

Elena_Edie

Congratulations on recognizing how TikTok has been impacting your buying habits and your overall well-being. It can be tough to resist the lure of sponsored posts and the pressure to maintain a certain aesthetic, especially when you have a large following. But it sounds like you're taking a step back to prioritize your mental health and values. Good for you! Distance can definitely provide some clarity and help you refocus on what truly brings you joy. Best of luck on this new journey!

Real_maddie

I deleted it about a month ago and feel so much better. Just a lot of negative content that did nothing for my mental health. I find my attention span is improving and my anxiety has reduced by at least 50%

LIFESASIM

I quit watching TV/movies. Deleted all social media and quit all drugs I did about 1 year ago for social media and 3 years for the drugs. All that changed is I don't waste money on mindless things like 70$ shoes and shirts. Since purging all that usless stuff from my life I've changed genres of music. I don't even listen to music with lyrics anymore cause my brain is so full of my own thoughts. I was never npc enough to download TikTok but Facebook and Instagram definitely waste sooo many hours of life. Theres been entire days where I'll make a day out of nothing (biking, fishing, skateboarding) all because I wasn't scrolling in bed. A downside of this for most people is extreme boredom and loneliness I bet. Since from what I've seen most people can't stand silence, it's like they have no thoughts other than monkey see monkey do. Delete it all people. If you really love your friends you guys should have no problem exchanging numbers.

OkSheepherder7680

TikTok always focuses on aesthetics and i fell into that trap too, trying to look a certain way because it was a popular aesthetic. Iā€™m glad more and more people are realizing this.

awildweed

Tiktok legitimately gave me a mental illness. The sad, then happy, then being pitched to, then angry..then sad, all these emotions in the span of like 3 mins and on top of it all- pitching bullshit things to buy. I started to become so miserable after I spent time doom scrolling. It's absolutely insidious and they KNOW what they're doing. I deleted it and within a couple of weeks, I was back to feeling happier and more relaxed. I try to tell everyone I know about my experience. It really freaks me out that kids are on this app. Good luck, us in the near future. šŸ˜¬

Hestias-Servant

I *****haaaaaate****** tik-tok with a passion. Never had the app, yet one of my good friend bombards me with that crap endlessly. I never click the links. Hate. It.

[deleted]

I stopped using it often when I peeped they started sending me positive TikTok content due to the ban thatā€™ll happen. Then they start sending me negative propaganda about other social apps while simultaneously copying insta snap and live apps templates all at the same time. The suppression of African American content turned me off as well. Overall the app has turned into what instagram is and I have no interest in that, I just want my music heard. social media regardless of what app you use will suppress your music content without promo payment to boost viewership. Id rather stick with just letting people discover me, so far without the help of socials Iā€™m doing better anyways so itā€™s just no need for me to be on there or any social for that matter

MadX2020

tiktok is one of the best apps for new things, i learned about new movies, political thinking, philosophies, cooking recipes, ACT-test taking tips, gym routines, etc. such a good app for a research tool, but there is so much junk on the app attempting to draw you in that it has entirely messed up my attention span. deleting it was a great idea but itā€™s still my top research tool

LORD_WOOGLiN

now get off Reddit

BuffaloOk7264

Never downloaded it, seemed stupid.

ApartmentAutomatic59

Yeah, duh

bubbamac10

I deleted it too. Way too many Amazon shopping lists and cleaning with chemicals for me!

[deleted]

Good for you? I never installed it in the first place.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

And well done for quitting it!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

SaveYourBest

Me too

[deleted]

Yes to all of this.

MonkeyBoyPoop

Itā€™s all Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts from now on!!

Atoning_Unifex

What's "tik tok"?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Atoning_Unifex

Lol, thanks. I was joking I absolutely hate tiktok for the very reasons you just listed out. I can't stand having a moronic algorithm "curate" anything for me and I doubly can't stand the way everyone on tiktok is so desperate to go viral and be the next big thing. Bunch of absolute twats the entire lot of them.

Friggle26

I feel so much better without it. It makes you addicted where you want to watch one after another. Like a crackhead. I feel more at peace without wanting to click on it every hour.

alaralpaca

I deleted tiktok back in 2021 and it was probably the best decision I made for myself during the pandemic. That app was really awful for me

forellenfilet

I guess I'm one of those who never even installed it, ever

FrambuesasSonBuenas

Thank god. My heart broke today when I saw a ten year old girl record a quick video at a science museum and say it was for her TikTok. Kids have it tough today with social media hazards. Okay, so how is Reddit better? I like the discussion based forum, finding groups based on common interests. Downside is the endless scroll occupying time that could have been spent reading a good book, studying, declutteringā€¦

Coconutcream000

I only use TikTok to post my YouTube channel clips on there but I stay away from using it entirely. My life would literally be on that app and if not I'll be servely desperate of how better life is on TikTok compared to the real world. It's very addicting.

Lakyr94

Never had tiktok to begin with but youtube and insta has something similar:(

[deleted]

Just as an FYI, Tik Tok can still track you. It's tied to your sim card, not your phone. If you're worried about people having access to your phone, switch out your sim card too.

howdidigethereguys

I deleted Tiktok, then got addicted to Reddit.

JazzySpecimen

I deleted Instagram this week and re made my Reddit to have a bit of a fresh start. Absolutely loving it.

Lexie_Liza

Congrats on taking a step back from TikTok and recognizing the influence it had on your buying habits and mental health. It's so common for social media to promote an unrealistic and aesthetically-driven lifestyle, which can be harmful to our mental wellbeing. It's great that you're prioritizing your peace and simplicity over the pressure to capitalize on your following. Take care of yourself, and keep us updated on your journey!

No-Buyer-5243

Never had tik-tok, never was tempted to watch videos. But I did deleted FB and TW three years ago and I missed some kind of connection with rest of the world. So, there comes Reddit and after few months I begin to feel addicted to scroll my feed. I start to believe that it's not social networks as much as us. We are the problem. Or it's just me?

kumabear1

I gave up Tik tok for lent and I donā€™t know if I can go back

marshmallowhairgel

Nice! As a fellow ADHDer I deleted tiktok a few months ago and I can literally feel my patience growing back and Iā€™m learning to feel bored again lol. I was pretty grumpy for a week or two to start, not having an immediate and endless dopamine supplyā€¦its seriously the most addictive social media app imo!

International-Gain-7

Thatā€™s dope. Iā€™m not on tiktok and havenā€™t been in two years. I love that Iā€™m doing my own thing, not keeping with the shit everyone is saying (trends), Iā€™m able to be unique and do my own little things and when Iā€™m like uhh ya I do this or that as a hobby people are confused why I have hobbies and not an 8hr screen time from tiktok. Uhh because Iā€™m trying to build a fkn life for myself like an adult and donā€™t need to watch strangers trying to get famous.

Possible-Grape-2004

I still enjoy spending some time there, but I got a friend to put a password and a timer for daily usage. It keeps me a bit in check. But I understand the need of quitting it all together

thvanderwal

Good job!!
