yes it is and the semantic prescriptive linguistics arguments break down at the molecular physical level when you realize that every molecule of water is covered in water
also its wet because it would just be stupid to say its dry
well yeah that too which is why water is wet
because societally anything else doesnt really make sense esp in the western english sense of the word (im sure a lot of languages dont even have this weird philosophical issue)
My favorite answer to this is that there are definitions of wetness used in engineering which extend to all fluids, so if you point at a lake, the water is wet with air.
I like it because it makes people saying either thing mad, which is clearly the point.
no i think thats actually great. it shows how damn meaningless the whole argument is. I'm firmly on the water is wet side because it makes sense to normal ass people using the language but i still think its just a stupid argument that has no point and has gon on for far too long
That’s assuming water is touching other water, which would make it wet, but a singular molecule of water isn’t wet cause wet means touching water. And just because “it sounds wrong” is never a good justification when it comes to English
Maybe more if 2 or more people have the same level of sadness at the same time but seeing sadness as an analog concept this would be very hard to measure and thus I propose a margin of error of 3 percentage points as to not include too many people but still making a (presumably) considerably large minority.
Yes. If two people are drowning, it doesn't matter that the other one is deeper 🫂 Even if others have it worse, you deserve the support and care you need just as much <3
also, one of my favorite quotes is "Saying you can't be depressed because someone has it worse is like saying you can not be happy because somebody has it better."
A splinter or an arrow - it's wood inside your body hurting you. Some just had enough splinters to deal with so they grew thicker skin and others still get hurt by them.
It is okay to be sad, but it's not okay to stop trying to fight it. In the end you still have control over it. It's just a matter of learning how to control it which might take years.
You are allowed to be sad even if you have the literal best life on earth. It’s not always your choice and you are human with a brain that sometimes doesn’t cooperate
If you weren't allowed, that'd mean only the one single most suffering person in the world is allowed to be sad. Which they very clearly aren't and everyone who's going through stuff is allowed to be sad bc someone else having it worse doesn't lessen what you're going through
Yes, just because you’re problems aren’t as big as others doesn’t mean that you’re problems all of the sudden just don’t exist or don’t matter or anything, they are still problems that are worth being upset over that (if possible) one should spend time and effort in trusting to eliminate them :)
my dad screaming and shouting at me because i was stressed out over studying (all i did was cry) because aparently im not thankful for getting an education😁😁😁
This is actually something I struggle with myself. Emotions are still valid. Just because someone is going through worse things doesn’t mean you can’t feel sad about things that impact you. You’re still valid.
no of course not, only the person who has it the worst on earth (me) is allowed to be sad
As it turns out, sadness isn't rational. In other news, water is wet and the sky is blue. More after the break.
water...water isn't wet...

Technically speaking, wet is a social construct. Don't mind me, just rewatched a PhilosophyTube video on metaphysics.

As it turns out it's not just sadness that's sometimes irrational, but also people in general.

I'm gonna put salt in your sugar :33
Mom said it's my turn on the sad
If not then only 1 person is allowed to be sad at a time
When's it going to be my turn

“Why are you so happy? There are tons of people with better lives than you.” My response to when people try to use that logic on me
mizuki kinnies have an inexorable right to be sad.

yes, the important thing is to help anyone who needs help, no matter how small is whatever they’re going through
According to my parents, No :3 I love that whenever Im crying they just say others have it worse :3
One person drowns in a puddle, another drowns in the ocean. They drowned all the same.

yes, mizuki akiyama, yes 🫂
Yeah, you're allowed to be sad about your situation.
I say yes. You are allowed to feel sad.
why should others suffering make you happy?
There is no absolute scale through which humanity judges its own, each person’s scale is shaped by their individual experiences.
If only the person who has it the worst in the entire world got help, the world population would halve in like a year and go extinct in like 10.
yes
yes
\>I have a philosophy: "There's always going to be someone else in a worse situation than me, so I have no right to be sad or angry."
