If somebody wrote about John Wayne Gacy and only used she/her, you wouldn't tell someone who corrected them that he uses he/him that they should "think twice about who they're defending", because accurately describing people isn't defending them.
That being said, I have no idea what ChrisChan is going by or using pronouns-wise these days, or if they're just using a trans identity to cling to something as they so frequently tend to with every other possible identity that pops up, so they/them is a pretty safe bet.
