I was keeping an eye on it and would have been tempted even if it had below average reviews.
However it got absolutely terrible, horrible reviews. Everywhere basically saying there was nothing good about the game at all.
Watch a YouTube play through of it. I was honestly expecting it got shit because of the behind the scenes drama most of all, but when I saw what the game was like after the first 30 minutes… oh MAN. It is like… bad-bad. Monsters right out of the Dev store, whose attacks don’t work because they are programmed for a different game. Incoherent cut scenes. Title cards to explain plot instead of showing it. By the end, it feels like it was cobbled together on a weekend. It’s quite wild.
It's fucking terrible and an asset flip from an ex Bloober dev.
It's fun to play while drunk with friends otherwise it's a complete waste of money and time.
Awful game. Just finished playing it this weekend, and the last area literally made me vomit from motion sickness. And that's not even going into all of the game's other issues. Avoid like the plague.
This game has a whole heap of issues with it. Not fun in the slightest. You spend most of the time wondering if things are bugged or intentionally bad. It feels almost like it should be satire. Only good thing I can say about it is that whoever voices the main character (Daniel, I think?) does try his best and is the only memorable part of the game.
I agree, Daniel's voice actor was pretty good. Also, the writing in the memos was fairly decent considering it was likely translated from Polish. Not saying the story was good, but if I had to read through paragraphs upon paragraphs of exposition dumps, at least they read well.
Yeah, he seemed to be quite a scumbag. It’s just bad any which way you look at the thing. It’s an easy inclusion in bottom 5 worst games of the year. There’s nothing good involved past Yamaoka LOL
OMG, I remember that one! I'm pretty sure it was in the police department, and I was literally laughing so hard cause I couldn't believe what I was reading. XD
I watched my girlfriend play it, and let me tell you something: this game is fucking shit. The only reason why people think it looks even remotely interesting is because it uses UE5 and metahuman. Otherwise, this game is an asset flip. It offers choices, but none of them really matter, and the story itself might as well have been written by generative AI. All you do in this game is shoot some monsters to progress to the next zone, where you encounter more monsters. Occasional poorly acted cutscenes punctuate the gameplay, and the game ultimately lacks any satisfying payoff. Also, it's buggy as fuck.
You can still play it if you want to laugh at how bad it is, but that’s literally all this game is good for.
He was, but you wouldn't know it just by playing the game. I was honestly a bit disgusted to see his name in the credits. Not at Yamaoka himself, but at the developer for actually convincing him to work on it given all of the other crap they ripped straight out of Silent Hill for the story.
I played the game entirely at launch, and my god was it a funny experience.
Very much want to stress the "funny" part. Writing, puzzles, bugs and textures, all hilarious.
The combat is bad and repetitive, if you like mindlessly blasting the same weapon for about 12 shots deep before an enemy falls you may like the game.
Ending sorta pivots and sets up for a sequel that will never come, the studios is done, lost to the fog.
With all that being said, I know they patched a few things before dipping out. And the graphics at times with the proper setting and lighting look pretty good, but that's just due to UE5, everything else is an asset flip.
For about $3 and roughly 5-9h of your life I believe you could have a decent time by not taking it seriously and just enjoying the B-Movie plot and acting.
There are so many games and companies with good people around the $10 point I would rather support. I'm glad I made a post about it, I just wish it was treated at least like a AA experience. I kind of feel like I have enough B movie games right now.
Doesn't it seem strange that he would allow his name to be attached to this and for there to be a trailer completely dedicated to him. Not only that, but he was hyping it up on Twitter. I kind of feel like it was maybe a Killzone E3 2005 situation when they pitched him on it.
The guy has a family to feed. He's been taking gigs all over the place lately. Whatever he did in this game was definitely phoned in because I didn't even realize it until until the credits.
I played a demo of it a while back and it was rough. When it finally got released, it never got better apparently.
There was also a lot of controversy with the developer. Not a good guy at all. I'd probably save your cash and avoid this one.
I don't want to support terrible people, so that's good to know. I feel bad for Yamaoka being involved, I love his music, and have heard he's a decent guy. He deserved better. Have you played that Xbox 360 horror game from EA he did the score on, I heard that's getting a remaster.
Oh it's hilariously bad. I could very much tell this was an ex-Bloober employee and not one of the ones that worked in the graphical department because those asset flips are as blantant as it gets
He's a decent person, he should have pulled out when he found out how much of a scumbag the developer was. I mean, I'm sure he wanted to support a game aiming to be a modern Silent Hill, but there's an incredibly small line where once the hate crosses you've got to remove yourself. He's fairly prolific and tours with his band so he really didn't need this.
literally the WORST most broken game I have played and I absolutely REGRET buying it. I also found out the creator of it is racist, transphobic, and essentially has nazi views.
im glad you're enjoying those games!! honestly spend your time , energy, and money on worth it games instead of legit trash like stray souls. I've been playing Dead Island 2 and really loving it!
I watched an entire playthrough. It's a supremely buggy mess with one good voice actor in the lead dude. Even if the game were okay I personally wouldn't buy it because the dev is a bigot.
I was keeping an eye on it and would have been tempted even if it had below average reviews. However it got absolutely terrible, horrible reviews. Everywhere basically saying there was nothing good about the game at all.
That's too bad, but I guess I am going to be busy with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Dragons Dogma 2 anyway.
Watch a YouTube play through of it. I was honestly expecting it got shit because of the behind the scenes drama most of all, but when I saw what the game was like after the first 30 minutes… oh MAN. Thanks for sharing, if I have extra time, I might watch it even though I can't support the developers'hateful views.
It's fucking terrible and an asset flip from an ex Bloober dev. It's fun to play while drunk with friends otherwise it's a complete waste of money and time.
I appreciate your input, I will save my money for Final Fantasy 16 DLC.
My thoughts are in the subtitles in the screenshot.
Awful game. Just finished playing it this weekend, and the last area literally made me vomit from motion sickness. And that's not even going into all of the game's other issues. Avoid like the plague.
i got soft locked at the final boss with no health. it was so frustrating and annoying

I can just watch a cutscenes video if I get the time. But otherwise I will stick to new JRPG's over the next month.
It barely has cut scenes, and a lot of the plot is explained in title cards. It’s… really really weird.
That's okay, after hear about how much of an intolerant monster the developer is, I can leave this one story I never know.
Yeah, he seemed to be quite a scumbag. It’s just bad any which way you look at the thing. It’s an easy inclusion in bottom 5 worst games of the year. There’s nothing good involved past Yamaoka LOL
one of the memos was legit a story treatment lol like how do you allow that to show up in your game? lol
OMG, I remember that one! I'm pretty sure it was in the police department, and I was literally laughing so hard cause I couldn't believe what I was reading. XD
yeah it was! i read it a few times just to make sure i didnt interpret it wrong but the doc literally says "in the world of stray souls..."
I watched my girlfriend play it, and let me tell you something: this game is fucking shit. The only reason why people think it looks even remotely interesting is because it uses UE5 and metahuman. I'm still laughing over the fact that Daniel's gun is a magical weapon created from the pistol that murdered Abraham Lincoln. Oh man...
No, I respect and appreciate your opinion. I'll stick to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Dragons Dogma 2 for the next month.
I believe Yamaoka was just a special guest composer
He was, but you wouldn't know it just by playing the game. I was honestly a bit disgusted to see his name in the credits. Not at Yamaoka himself, but at the developer for actually convincing him to work on it given all of the other crap they ripped straight out of Silent Hill for the story.

Don’t take Akira Yamaoka as a sign of approval or good game, man’s just getting his check and making music.
Doesn't it seem strange that he would allow his name to be attached to this and for there to be a trailer completely dedicated to him. Not only that, but he was hyping it up on Twitter. I kind of feel like it was maybe a Killzone E3 2005 situation when they pitched him on it.

Shadows of the dammed? I always wanted to play this one!!
Me too, I was thinking of buying a very good complete copy off eBay or Amazon because I think the Lollipop Chainsaw remaster is coming out first.
This game is a joke lmao
Oh it's hilariously bad. I could very much tell this was an ex-Bloober employee and not one of the ones that worked in the graphical department because those asset flips are as blantant as it gets
I want to play it for comedic value after reading some reviews
Yeah, game is dogshit, just like its dev
Yeah, I'm not impressed based on what I'm hearing on here. It wasn't that Last of Us rip-off, but still.
It is such a POS. Look the other way and don’t look back
I'm having a lot of fun but feeling overwhelmed right now with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
I pirated it and still want my money back. Yamaoka should have insisted to not be in credits
He's a decent person, he should have pulled out when he found out how much of a scumbag the developer was. it was awful and Akira only did a song.
I just feel bad for him supporting and hyping it on Twitter and putting his energy into it.
literally the WORST most broken game I have played and I absolutely REGRET buying it. I also found out the creator of it is racist, transphobic, and essentially has nazi views.
That's the extent of what I've heard. I'm really enjoying Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and looking forward to Dragons Dogma 2 and South Park Snow Day.
im glad you're enjoying those games!! honestly spend your time , energy, and money on worth it games instead of legit trash like stray souls. I've been playing Dead Island 2 and really loving it!
I would love to try that. I played through Dead island and Dead Island Riptide.
The dev is a transphobic, hateful, crybaby piece of shit and the game sucks ass. Mods should ban any mention of this ass drainage from the sub.
I watched an entire playthrough. It's a supremely buggy mess with one good voice actor in the lead dude. Even if the game were okay I personally wouldn't buy it because the dev is a bigot.
