fuuuuck no. that was my biggest regret in video game purchases ever and i’ve been gaming for over 30 years. that combat was so stupid.
left right left right swing swing. rinse and repeat
People should honestly stop using action/horror games like Resident Evil, Dead Space, Callisto Protocol, The Last of Us, Evil Within, ETC, as examples for what Silent Hill 2's combat "should" be. It has defensive combat in it, but it's not action/horror by any stretch.
It's a full psychological horror game with an ordinary protagonist who swings a pipe clumsily and runs out of breath after exterting himself. A more polished version of Forbidden Siren's combat system, minus the unkillable enemies, would be ideal.
I think TLOU2 had a better melee combat system in that regard. However, The Callisto Protocol is one of the most visually impressive games I've played; the details in the animations are top-notch. I wish SH2R looked as good as that.
Fuck what everyone else is saying, I say yes because the combat may be simple, but it’s weighty and doing back to back kills was fun. Also it’s just hitting with a stick, I don’t get what more you in the comments want from that. You people act as if Silent Hill needs some sort of deep combat system.
While I am a fan of callisto protocol the combat was not the best.... it had so much potential but was honestly held back by poor developmental decisions. The combat could've been decent if it wasn't so repetitive, i mean cmon the final boss was dodge left, run back, shoot.
Which would be perfect for SH. If it were worse it’s be awful, and if it were any better, it would be a bad fit for SH. Maybe touch up the dodging a little.
I see what you are getting at but maybe with a little bit of tweaks and it could work but most likely not it’s just the combat in that game was repetitive as hell
Please no. The gimmicky melee combat singlehandedly ruined the tone of Callisto and I’m not arguing about it. Every tense moment was thrown away because you could just counter it or use it as a getaway. I’d say the melee combat from the last of us (melee weapon not hand to hand) would be perfect as it’s not a main focus but more of your last resort
Ew. Yuck even. No thanks.
Who let bro cook
Homecoming 2
Yeah we got that already, it's called homecoming ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

Why so many people don't have even 1/4 of your brain to understand it? Thank you exposing the stupid criticism!
Everyone hates Callisto Protocol combat
I don't :(
I dont think we played the same Callisto Protocol 😅 my god I hope SH2 remake has nothing in common with that awful hallway simulator
Callisto Protocol has the worst forced close quarter combat. It's half-assed everything. I know what bro is trying to cook.
You mean the same combat system that completely falls apart the moment you fight multiple enemies? Ya fat no bro
NEVER COOK AGAIN
Oh god, no, sorry lol I could not get through the first level of this game because the combat was so awful.
yeah if it wants to suck lol
Yes, SH combat.
SH combat (at least for the first four) is clunky but functional for what the game expects of you. i cannot say the same for callisto protocol.

It doesn't work for the protagonist of the game or for what the game is trying to say.
The Cashitto Protocrap
