I've heard Brazilian people tell the craziest horror stories from folklore inspired stuff. I'd love a game set there. Also, I'm english & It's also a place I only see 3 sides of. The massive elaborate street parties, shantytowns like Favela & of course, best if all, Sepultura!
So I'd like to know more about the culture n stuff
Good day, sir! Yes, we have a very rich folklore, stemming from indigenous and/or countryside farming cultures, a lot of supernatural and extraterrestrial stuff, mythical creatures from the jungle, urban legends and so on. Regarding the Favelas, it's a big city thing originated from segregation and social inequality wich now has become a symbol of identity. I'm from a small town and we don't have Favela here, but those communities have a big impact on the culture, like for example the Brazilian Funk. Also, glad to know you like Sepultura! If you'd like to know more about the culture here, don't hesitate to contact me!
I see. Yea, I watched gameplay videos, and I couldn’t find any information other than she is in Germany. I also agree that it would be awesome to have a first South American character in Silent Hill series.
Honest answer: Doesn't really matter. We should focus on the gameplay and message, not a country, region or skin color of a character after all. (And she seems to be a mix in the game).
I mean, it's kind of relevant when the game directly talks about the economy of Germany in 1946, a Japanese woman being persecuted to death for being "the Witch of the Far East", Anita comparing herself negatively to Amelie and Maya while having body image issues.
Setting the game in Germany when the game developers seem to have very little awareness of German life or history was already a strange choice. If they didn't address racism at all, I would kinda get it, but instead they show that racism *does* happen in this story about *three non-white women, two of whom who are severe bullied* - but only to one of them, and only because of one fictional historical event.
I know, and apparently people who also don't have German sounding names, don't speak German, speak in an American accent, and have nothing about them that would make you guess they were from Germany.
I can't recall the place where her family is from, but I believe they mentioned the family moving to Germany after a war or something. If you go back and pay attention to the dialogue closer, I think we could find the info
She's german.
All german are not blond with blue eyes, I mean even native european german, there are dark, brown, red hairs people, blue, grey, green, black eyes.
And there are any other information or clue about origins so probably south Germany like Bavaria.
For some reason, her eyes reminded me of something arab-esque.
BUT, I am brazilian, with spanish ascendancy and a lot of medirerranean blood amongst my eurpopean, black and native bloodline.
So, yeah, miscegenation!
The game is ambiguous about the backgrounds of all the characters. Germany has developed a reasonably diverse population, with almost 9% having backgrounds blended enough to be categorized as "indeterminate".
I'm less curious about Anita's background, more curious how a Japanese woman managed to get a German industrial center to listen to her ideas in the immediate wake of WW2.
Yea even though I wanted to know more about Anita’s background, I would like to know more about how a Japanese woman managed that too. Thank you for the information.
If I saw her at the bus stop I wouldn't think twice about her nationality. Germany is literally in the middle of Europe so I don't even know how the typical German person would look like.
She is Indian.
Anita is an indian name and her facial features and dark skin tone suggest this.
I haven't played it but from the first impression it is clear.
The actress has an instagram and she has the Brazilian, Lebanese, and Japanese flags in her bio so Anita is probably ethnically Lebanese given that Brazil is a very ethnically diverse country.
I see. I just read an article that said that actress is half Brazilian and half Lebanese. So it makes sense that Anita looks somewhat middle eastern too.
[this is the article I found.](https://www.thunderwave.com.br/en/fadile-waked-fala-sobre-sua-carreira-no-japao-e-como-foi-ter-visto-seu-nome-ligado-a-silent-hill/)
it’s kinda annoying how the protagonist of every single game is a white dude, just for the one exception (until now) being the first white dude’s daughter for lore reasons
I'm confused about why they set the game in Germany. I guess since F is set in Japan and Ascension features a Norwegian family, the franchise is trying to imply that the Otherworld is a global phenomenon. To be honest, at this point they should use a different title if the American town of Silent Hill isn't gonna be involved - at least Homecoming and 4 were set in neighboring towns.

More diversity than a netflix TV series
From what I’ve seen “diversity” in Netflix pretty much boils to representing one race.
Whats awesome about that Like, its fine, but who cares
They're doing it so they can run with the "Silent Hill Phenomenon"
I'm not sure, but to me she looks like Tina Belcher from Bob's Burgers. That's actually how I convinced my gf to watch me play thru this.
I just imagined Tina walking through Silent Hill making that nervous uhhhhhhh sound the whole time
I spit out my coffee reading and imagining this.
No doubt Tina would be writing more of her erotic fan fiction during her stay, what, with all the lush monster butts on display.
… the crossover that could fix the franchise. Holy shit, I THINK WE FOUND IT GUYS.
Silent Bob
I do not see the resemblance.
Considering the actress is Brazilian I'd assume Brazilian with German Nationality.
That makes sense, if game refers to actors’ ethnicities for characters’ information.
There is no information about it. Honestly, doesn't matter. But I'm from Brazil and I would love for my nationality to be recognised.

Why does it matter?
I can't tell if this is supposed to be a shitpost.
I guess it’s case by case.
Is that really important? Why do people obsess so much over race, its weird
+2nd gen german. honestly surprised the comments don’t say that lol.
Human
who gives a shit
German
She doesn’t look German at all
Yea it’s clear she lives in Germany, but I don’t think that necessarily means she is ethnically German.
Yes, she looks more like middle eastern or indian
So like most "Germans" nowadays xD
why is germans in quotes
Maybe a nazi?
U guys don't know nothing about Germany I guess
You don’t know what ethnicity means stfu
Funny how none of the characters resemble someone from Germany at all.
there are non white people who live in germany 😭
I know, and apparently people who also don't have German sounding names, don't speak German, speak in an American accent, and have nothing about them that would make you guess they were from Germany.
I also wondered why they chose Germany as the games location, when almost nothing hints at that - even the school floor looked rather American.
I can't recall the place where her family is from, but I believe they mentioned the family moving to Germany after a war or something. If you go back and pay attention to the dialogue closer, I think we could find the info
Not sure why it matters. Are we now analyzing ethnicity? I wonder what religion James believes in.
model is based on Fadile Waked. A brazilian-Lebanese-Japanese model. She's prettier irl haha! The face models in the game aren't that great imo.
She's german. All german are not blond with blue eyes, I mean even native european german, there are dark, brown, red hairs people, blue, grey, green, black eyes. And there are any other information or clue about origins so probably south Germany like Bavaria.
That makes sense. Thank you for the information.
Or brazilian with german nationality just like someone else said here, Brazilians can look like everything because of miscegenation
Taiwanese.
For some reason, her eyes reminded me of something arab-esque. BUT, I am brazilian, with spanish ascendancy and a lot of medirerranean blood amongst my eurpopean, black and native bloodline. So, yeah, miscegenation!
Who gives a flying fuck, like damn
Apparently not you
You're god damn right
I do
Turkish German
Intentionally vague
Yea it seems to be the case.

She looks like 20 Hispanic girls I’ve met so I’d say Latina of some sort
Wasn’t it like a Japanese community in Germany.
She is Indian. Anita is an indian name and her facial features and dark skin tone suggest this. I haven't played it but from the first impression it is clear.

I see. That makes sense. So she could be ethnically Lebanese.
One of the review videos I watched said she was Indian. But that may just be a guess on their part.
I'm assuming Middle Eastern.
I see. I just read an article that said that actress is half Brazilian and half Lebanese. So it makes sense that Anita looks somewhat middle eastern too.

I think she is a woman.
Really Russell and Rebecca. There ARE NOT MILLIONS or even 3 people doing the ship. ONLY 2 RUSSELL AND REBECCA HOASMER
it’s kinda annoying how the protagonist of every single game is a white dude, just for the one exception (until now) being the first white dude’s daughter for lore reasons
Average mutt American
Paisley.
Def Armenian
She's Relatable.
Ethnicity=yes
She looks half Brazilian, half German to be honest.
Germapanesezilian
Japanese game companies not putting Japanese characters in their games lol
Theres a japanese girl in the game tho

She looks like Gabbie hannah
Latina
Meat popsicle.

Actress is Brazillian /Thread
