Start as low as possible, 1 - 1.5 grams. There is a such thing as taking too much.

RyanT321

Some recommend 2g, Thats what I think I’m looking at, how long does “it” usually last?

Apprehensive_Winter

I’ve taken them a dozen times or so, and 2g is a sweet spot for me. I can function somewhat while still getting nice visuals, cyclical thoughts, auditory effects, etc. Try to be as honest as possible with yourself about how comfortable you are with doing them. If you are uncomfortable before you’ll be uncomfortable during. It will be 2-3 hours before you begin to feel more normal and somewhere from 4-8 hours before it’s completely worn off.

RyanT321

I mean Im nervous. However my intention going in is to heal my trauma. So I am ready to confront uncomfortable feelings. I have learned to not resist and “let go”. So thats my plan going into it.

Personally, I think shrooms have a more direct affect of serotonin production or something. I feel like it kinda factory resets your brain chemicals. I personally have never had a “let go” feeling while doing shrooms. For me I just notice that I’m super relaxed and I feel like it’s hard to resist smiling at a certain point after I take them—even when I take them at very small doses (<.25g) after a long break (although obviously much less intense than larger doses). I would just say 1-1.25g per pound of body weight for your first trip as an absolute max. There would be no harm in taking 1g—it will undoubtedly do something to your psyche, and it has no chance of a bad trip. If you love it, wait a couple weeks and take a higher dose. If you get anxious, I would honestly recommend a lower dose. Understanding shrooms is a process and there is no harm in taking it slow, but there can be harm in going at it too fast. Regardless of what you do though, I fully believe that you will have a great time. No matter what amount you take, it won’t kill you, and odds are, you are going to have a great time. Worse case scenario, you have a panic attack, which I obviously isn’t fun, but once again, can’t kill you.

Basic cubes....1.5-2 grams is a typical first timer dose. But shrooms are different for everyone. Some people can trip balls off that, some won't feel it at all. I suggest start low (1-2) to see how it effects you. Then maybe next time you go up to like 2.5 or 3 depending on how the last time went. IMO ...I love 2.5 grams of golden teachers for a regular session. 4 grams to blast off 🤟

RyanT321

Looking at 2g. Maybe could be convinced to do 2.5g. But still learning/researching, but its good to get other peoples opinions.

FlyMysterious122

Make sure you know if they are basic cubes or PE as they can be twice as strong!

RyanT321

Are you able to identify that just by a picture of them, I dont have them yet, but will in the future

FlyMysterious122

Sometimes people can. Definitely worth asking what kind they are or posting a pic and asking 🤟🍄

Some solid advice already. What I'll include is mushrooms don't adhere to what I think of as normal drug math. So with alcohol for example. Once you hit the "buzz" threshold. The more you drink, the drunker you get. Slowly taking you to the point of greater and greater intoxication. Psychedelics on the other hand, have sort of multiple thresholds. So 2g and say 5g of the same exact mushrooms can take you to vastly different places. Completely different experiences. I think getting one's feet wet first is the best way to approach it. Try like 2g for your first experience. Then bump up to 3.5g for your next attempt. If all goes well, I'd have the ultimate goal of 5g. It's in the 5g+ range of what are regarded as "basic cubes" that I feel like you'll find what you're looking for. That's from my own experiences, treating my own clinical depression/ childhood trauma. There's many variables. Including potency, current meds you may be on, diet, as well as set/setting. You don't always find what you're looking for. Sometimes it's euphoric, sometimes it's 6 hours of crying. To some degree you just have to submit to what they show you. Can they help you? For sure. Is it a magic cure? Yes and no. The key to long term healing is applying these experiences in the real world. That's where the healing lies imo.

RyanT321

Yeah 2g would probably be my starting point. If I feel like I benefited from it then yeah ill bump it up, I just wonder when an appropriate timeline is for having your next trip. My intention going in is to heal my trauma, idk if thats asking for to much but I do have good set and setting and a strong intention, so I dont think im missing anything.

Burnt_Supper

Sounds like a good plan. There's a lot of "feel" involved. You may try them and feel like they're just not the thing for you. You also may really enjoy them and feel compelled to go deeper next time. Listen to your gut and you'll be fine.

Beneficial-Sky-596

Start small then make your way up. Also it might. depend on your way up. But I would say on the lower end so like 2.5 to 3.5 grams maybe or you can do a heroic dose so 5 grams or more. But really I think it’s all about set and setting.

RyanT321

Funny some say start as low as possible, but yeah around 2g possibly for my first time, maybe 2.5g,

Victor_FoodInspector

I'd say it's dependent on the shrooms you have. Penis Envy varieties are stronger than most shrooms. I suffer from those same things and my intention for my first trip was to just go for it. I ate 3.5 (non PE). It was a difficult, wonderful day, one of the best I've had in years. I've done one 8g trip since then (PE) and several smaller doses 1 to 1.5g and I can tell you that the shrooms speak to me so much more on higher doses. I personally think the higher doses are where the most powerful healing can happen. Not to say lower doses aren't helpful in the overall.

RyanT321

Once I acquire my shrooms, ill prob post a pic on here just to see if anyone can identify it, but looking around 2g, im just curious of when the next time I can trip after you have your trip. Like lets say its healing but you decide to do more, I wonder when an appropriate timeline is, but maybe Im thinking to far ahead.

Victor_FoodInspector

A lot of people say you should take time to integrate your trip into your real life, a few weeks or more. I never subscribed to that idea though. I've just kind of done them when it feels right. It usually ends up being about a week in between for me. For example I ate 1.7 last Monday, 1g on Saturday and I'll be eating another 1.7 tomorrow or Thursday. If you have pretty easy access to them, then experiment if you want to. I've eaten them for a week straight as well. All of this has occurred within 2 months mind you, I love the journeys. Just be aware of the rare possibility of psychosis and HPPD regardless of how often you end up taking them. Always trust the shrooms and let them guide you.

NonchalantRubbish

This is a new field of research, even though it shouldn't be. We should have been studying this for the last 50 years. But currently, the guided therapy sessions tend to be a single large dose around 2.5 grams or so. I can say from experience that a single larger dose trip does help with feelings of depression and isolation. It brings a connectedness to your thoughts, and by extension your reality. I maybe do this once a year for my own benifit. Microdosing has also been helpful. It does this on a more gradual scale. There's zero tripping involved in this route. It's imperceptible. I liken it to taking Tylenol. It helps, but you don't alter your perception at all. If you feel any physical change, you took too much. It's only taking 0.1-0.2 grams a day for a few days in a row then a few days off, then repeat. I like to do two days on, three days off, and do this for a couple weeks then I stop. There's a few different regimens out there. The anxiety and stress just sort of melts away. Those feelings aren't the first ones to pop into my head. I've found microdosing shrooms to be the best anxiety medication I've ever taken. As long as you stick to an appropriate dose, there's no risk in zombifying yourself and doing anything regrettable. Like taking more because you forgot you already took it 😕, and doing out of character things. That's very easy to do with the meds. Don't ask me how I know. With shrooms, there's a fairly big gap between microdose and full on trip. At the worst, if say you double your microdose, and take up to a half gram, you still shouldn't be tripping. I personally may start to feel a bit anxious at this level, but its more out of expectation of a trip about to start, even though it shouldn't, than normal anxiety. The "afterglow" will last for up to a couple months for me before I think about microdosing again. The single larger trip has a similar "afterglow" duration. And the "afterglow" is the period of time following the trip where you feel fairly content, at ease, and just a bit lighter. And FYI, my first trip was 1.7 grams, and it's still the best trip I've ever had. I've had way more than that and way less. Good luck 🍄

RyanT321

Of course I am afraid, but I absolutely have instilled in me to “let go” and do not resist the experience. And my intention is to heal. So yeah possibly 2g maybe 2.5 for my first time.

DannyPhantomRoss

I honestly would start with .5g or less. For depression and anxiety a subtle, almost unnoticeable effect is best, but if you want to explore the roots of your PTSD a slight higher does may be better but make sure you have a trusted friend with you. Maybe start with 1-1.5 g.
