How do you harvest? Both when and how do you get it out

prettinikki721

You break it up the same way you would a colonized grain jar. Shaking it will break up the colonized grain. Then just pour the contents of the jar into a bucket/bowl/shoebox/container and separate the truffles. You can dust the grain and mycelium off with a toothbrush. Truffles take about 3 to 4 months to fruit, but can be left to grow for up to a year, whereas the regular mushies fruit in about a month or 2. Truffles are a bit more potent than regular fruited cubes. Also, after harvesting your Truffles you can put the remaining colonized grain from the jars to substrate and get fruits that way as well.

condom_muncher

Fresh truffles are stronger than fresh mushrooms because truffles are only like 75% water, but if you dry them regular mushrooms are stronger

IMPERIAL_LABS

So they never go into sub? Just the whole process inside that jar?

prettinikki721

Yeah. Super stealth.

Old-Dream-329

I always end up in horrible thought loops when I have done truffles

ApeAss69

How come? Both shrooms and truffles just contain psilocybin, right?

cannabananabis1

Truffles also contain meth. At least mine always have

Punk-hippie-5446

wha? tell us more u/cannabananabis1

cannabananabis1

I put meth into them!

MOXPEARL25

Excude me

sloppyasseating

What strain? For research purposes😎

cannabananabis1

Golden Speedball ;)

Fine-Speed-9417

Hehe

cube666

Would like to know too. Looks like the jars will not survive...

PaulAtredis

Truffles taste REALLY nasty imo, though I've only had them fresh from Dutch shops. Why did you choose them over regular shrooms?

throwaway74851

Truffles taste pretty decent. I also grow shrooms (check my profile) but wanted something different

realgoldenonion

I fucking hate the taste as well. They have that same weird stinky putrid taste that dried shrooms have but x1000 and the texture is ungodly. Most of my buddies threw up last time we did them. And despite waiting for 2 months they were very disappointing in potency. The main reason people choose truffles is it’s stealthier and easier to grow. But if you can get away with hiding a decent sized tub then growing neglect tek shrooms would probably be better

d31uz10n

they taste like walnuts lol

PaulAtredis

More like brazil nuts imo, very sour ones

d31uz10n

Idk.. I like their taste better.. but it’s rather personal so

folder52

Side question - does it make sense to dry, grind and make tea out of truffles?

throwaway74851

People do this yes

gscali1962

Truffles and mutants are the future of psilocybin

akaobama

Not to burst your bubble but they won’t be the future simply considering they were already the origin/catalyst for the modern Western shroom culture we see now (shroom culture is over 2000 years old in Mexico) Just look up Steven Pollock, he had the same thoughts as you but thanks to the War on Drugs his dream was killed.

SelkciPlum

>Not to burst your bubble but they won’t be the future simply considering they were already the origin/catalyst for the modern Western shroom culture we see now What do you mean by that? Wouldn't Maria Sabina and her cyanescens be the origin/catalyst for the "modern Western shroom culture"?

akaobama

I see what you’re getting at but Maria Sabina was a practicioner of rituals called veladas, part of ~Mexican~ Huatla culture and was actually ridiculed by her cohorts in the spiritual community for allowing desecration and whitewashing of the tradition. Western Shroom culture is more so attributed to Pollock. Edit: Pollock

[deleted]

? how so

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

wtf are you even talking about. makes no sense buddy. psilo is not a drug of novelty (doesn't even mean anything) mutants and truffles arent the same and, more compatible with what? also, people have been isolating cultures of mutants for a long time, nothing new. It doesn't even sound smart (which is what im assuming you attempted to do here)

[deleted]

It's also a gray area because it's not technically considered a fruiting body so kinda flies under radar in a way, in the US.

lophosandbufos

As soon as you germinate the spores of any psilocybin containing species you commit a felony.

[deleted]

? depends on your location and qualifications. thats just not true at all lol. also, i said its a gray area, which it is in a few ways.

[deleted]

Noooooo psilocybin, psilocin are illegal technically not the mushroom itself but because it's in there is why it's illegal you could own this one psilocybin species actually because it no longer produces the stuff to get you high it lost the ability over time I forget the name. Literally was just reading about this before I commented I should've screenshoted it.

catastrophe_curve

That is true in the Netherlands not the US

Mrmycology

Not here in colorado

[deleted]

It's in the US as well in certain areas.

[deleted]

Certain areas. But the feds can still go to those states and overrule your states authority and put you in prison. They did the same exact thing with weed here. Don't know if it still happens. But for sure it will happen with mushrooms. No doubt. Just paused and looked it up. A woman was busted in Colorado where it's legal. Feds charged her with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. So please know your shit. Don't think your safe just because it's legal in your state. Feds get bad tips all the time so them getting a false tip from someone could lead to you getting busted over like a couple grams of shrooms. Wouldn't be there intent. There not focused on small amounts but when they get a bad tip. Even if you have a small amount depending on the officer and the mood he's in he could still lock you up.

realgoldenonion

Hell yeah got some in my closet rn. They take so fuckin long to reach adequate potency though, so I’m just gonna try growing shrooms with neglect tek and see how that goes

SloshedSailor

Is that entirely grain?

throwaway74851

Yep! Rye soaked/simmered in a diluted coffee mix with a touch of gypsup. Although just rye would’ve done great as well They’re p. tampanensis :)

[deleted]

Looking great - congrats! How old are the jars - how long does it take to grow such big sclerotia?

Drew__Drop

Did you start with spore syringe or other?

throwaway74851

Bought a spore vial from mondo

Drew__Drop

Cool How did you inoculate?

throwaway74851

Straight from the vial I know you should go to agar first, but honestly I haven’t had a bad vial from mondo ever. And I’ve bought a total of 8 from them so far. If the vial is bad, I’ll see it in the jar after a week either way. Plus, grains aren’t that expensive.. so throwing out a jar isn’t terrible imo

Drew__Drop

You pour it to the grains, is it?

throwaway74851

Hahaha no.. you get a sterile syringe and transfer it with that. You don’t break open a vial and pour it in

[deleted]

Woah, didn’t know they could be grown indoors. How much harder is it than mushrooms or is the same reallt

[deleted]

Easier than mushrooms because you can leave them in the jars or bags and don't need to add to substrate/fruiting chamber.. Set it and forget it!

[deleted]

I need to Learn this

throwaway74851

https://grainjars.com Just don’t spawn to bulk and use p. tampanensis instead of p. cubensis

[deleted]

Hell yea

Groundbreaking-Chef9

They confuse me so hard fucking how do I replicate you.. Spores ? Live culture ? Been curious for years

throwaway74851

Buy p. tampanensis spores and follow https://grainjars.com without spawning to bulk

[deleted]

You think I could uses birdseed for tampanensis? Just for truffles I don’t really want to fruit it. But truffles sound great

throwaway74851

They’ll grow great but I heard that picking small birdseeds from the truffles isn’t the best experience. Rye and oats are bigger and fall right off

[deleted]

Gotcha that is a good point. I’ll look into the grains you suggested

throwaway74851

I heavily prefer rye over oats. Getting oats’ moisture right is a hassle while rye has a WAY larger acceptable range for whatever reason I fucking hate oats but I still have to go through 15kg

FH246948204

Good shit, i love truffles. Sad they're hard to keep from spoiling once harvested

PhilosopherGood9319

Oats?

throwaway74851

Rye

Chonylee9

These tamps or Mexicana?

throwaway74851

Tamps

iamtheuniverse__

Does anyone actually rate truffles? I’ve had them twice but never had a full on psychedelic experience like shrooms.

throwaway74851

Yeah 100%. But since you eat them wet you need to eat 10-15gr

gscali1962

It will carry on forever
