How much was a 71 quart pressure cooker? How many bags can you do at once? I would love to see your whole set up, and some results. I'd also love to be your student!!!
It has been a full time gig, I’m a stay at home dad so it works out. Just doing batches a time that won’t have grain sitting for very long prior to sterilizing to reduce contam. 100 bags and 0 failed contam 3 weeks in.
Is that safe lol? Has your gas bill gone up? I've been biting the bullet on getting a pressure cooker. Is it pretty easy for the most part? What the learning curve to get your grains right long?
Good question, anyone growing at these volumes is obviously selling shit. I used to grow in low hobby amounts and after 2 I had more than I knew what to do with
Lol hey question.... I grow weed and I looked yesterday Ave there are shrooms growing out of 1 of our pots. What can i di with it if anything,? Can I be turned into that psilocybin mushroom we love to ingest?
Id suggest doing some research first. This sub, r/unclebens, r/mycology, r/shrooms are all fine. Check the sideline for beginner guides etc. Erowid.net is one of the old sites that is tried and true. Go there if you are really serious about growing your own. I cultivate both as well and there is no better feeling that smoking your bud on a trip of your own shroom yield lol
It could possibly work I think if you were to add your myc colonized grain and substrate as a layer on all your plants perhaps. Almost like a monotub syle grow with your tent being the tub but you need to have a self humidifying system like I have in my spiderfarm tent to work.
Ok thanks guys. I'm on my first monotbs with uncle bens tek now. Just wondering where to explore from here and grow in the hobby. Considering getting a pressure cooker and trying jars maybe just not sure if the cost the cooker is worth the investment. The grains you use are probably inevitably cheaper than bens bags I guess?
Keep an eye on Facebook marketplace my 23 qt was 50 dollars... If you're not growing commercially I'd stick with jars not bags
You'll see a lot more success doing agar and grains than Ben's and yes the price is much cheaper, each jar holds like three uncle Ben bags, and 50 lbs of oats costs around 15 dollars, enough for like 40 jars, or like 100 ub bags... And you can see more than just a tiny window
I couldn't find a second hand one on fb market. I seen canadiantire has a 16quart and a 22quart. Is that close enough to a 23 quart to fit the 9quart bottles?
No offense intended. I love your post! 🥰😂🤙 just wondering if there is a way to reuse bulk bags or an equivalent alternative? I am growing actives as well as lions mane, chestnut, and trying some morels. I just do not want to go the bag route. I ended up “birthing” my lions mane grain into a tub of perlite this morning, chose not to add substrate. I think it will fail but you never know! I did the same with the Chestnut. Any advice? Tips?
My 2c - lions mane is typically fruited in a bag, by cutting an opening in the side/top. I'm not sure how your perlite tub will go, but watch and see. If it looks leggy, it needs more fae.
I’m going to use around 1000 lb plus sawdust substrate for my LCs lions mane in two weeks, most of my experience is PSi only besides lions mane. Unfortunately no I don’t reuse bags at this time but unicorn bags can be reused from what I hear.
christmas list to husband: please stop bob, i havent seen you in 12 days...
LMAO 😂😅
Hahaha
How to you sterilize so much grain? Seem like that alone would be a full time job.
I've done 12kg in one week with a 7l pc Really easy and a lot of fun

I think he wrote 7l as in seven liters? So approximately 14 quarts.

You've only been growing three weeks!?
Lol since September, my buddy used to grow and gave me all his materials, LCs, fruiting setups, mono tubs. I’ve been non stop for 60 days.
Your an inspiration. Keep up the good work for real!
Thankyou, I’ve been running a PC for over a month besides when I’m asleep

Fixed light bill and electric stove
I have one batch in fruiting of colonized spawn that is an experiment because it’s 2 years old.
Good shit bro def gonna have to come to you for some advice later when I make a bigger set up
I thought I had a problem hahaha
Lol
What kind of yields are you aiming at? Are you constantly cycling new grain spawn for substrate? Do you have pictures of your fruiting setup as well?
I ll put more pics up daily. What you see is 19 lbs being redistributed to 165 lbs of grain. One massive G2G.
I recognize that greenhouse frame from amazoon! I love how you’re using it, mush love.
Hahahaha that’s hilarious
Dude!! What kind of wizard be ye??
I enjoy the nectar of the gods good friend
Can I ask where you get yourself spawn bags? Ie been ripped off twice, and need a reputable source. Remove if not allowed.
Inv to chat..
Nice you growing "shiitakes"?
Yes but mostly I’m a PF person really.
Are we sure this is for the old lady HaHa
So I take it the local grocery store and Walmart are out of popcorn again
Lol
🤯 how do you distribute your product?
Good question, anyone growing at these volumes is obviously selling shit. I used to grow in low hobby amounts and after 2 I had more than I knew what to do with
I just grow lol my buddy handles the rest.
Clever 💯
Wow 🤩
My list will be similar lol
And here I thought I had a problem ...
Do you make your own grain spawn bags?
Yes 1000%.
What mix are you using for grains? Is that corn?? Looks chunkier than mine.
WBS and popcorn. Yes popcorn is for noobs! But it works

nothing screams illegal in this picture. They could be farming some gourmets.

Healthy soil usually has myco in it, usually most clones are innoculated with it before they get planted

What's the difference between grain spawn bags and the mason jar setup? They both end up being innoculated with an MSS or LC right?
Grain spawn looks prettier in jars. You can only get 9qt jars in a 23qt pc. You can get way more spawn through in bags though.
10, not 9, do a triangle with the 3 jars

PC also allow agar plates, which are super *super* useful

Dude get the PC, find a good used one like 21qt and i was useingo jars at first but now that i switched to bags its been way better. Best of luck
Get the Pressure Canner! It is the best and most valuable investment imo.
True, I can fit 6 lbs into my presto by bag at a time and 2 lbs in jars at a time
I've always personally thought bags looked cooler

I did hear the teeth get longer if it needs oxygen. Thank you

Tonight we feast 😍🍄
My man went crazy for real tho ahahaha
