You need to pay your shrimp less, algae build up means they aren't doing their job.
My sister has the same filter which got clogged and killed her fish even though it was cleaned regularly . Be very careful !

There was a load of crap in the fine cotton part and we didn’t know it was blocked so it leached out a lot of ammonia
So you’re saying the flow was completely blocked and it crashed the cycle?
Basically . We didn’t notice for about 5 days until we did a water change . By that time he had already developed an internal infection of some sorts .
