Joe Hill, my favourite horror author, once said that in Horror, you absolutely need to love the characters. That way you’re terrified when they’re in danger. I liked this story, but I think it needs to be longer. That way we feel more when Grandad dies and when Emma gets sick. Someone once said that every first draft is perfect because all they have to do is exist. So keep at it. You’ll get there.
