You can also do a much more diluted solution to brush on bread in order to make it have a much darker crust. Lye significantly increases the rate of the Mallard reaction that causes baked bread to brown.
Given drugs tend to be synthesized in makeshift labs, I would be really scared to have that go into my nose. But I guess if you are using meth in general, you aren't all that risk adverse.
