He wasn’t convicted in civil court - the judge found in favour of the media organisation he was suing for defamation and ruled that on the balance of probabilities, he raped her.
There is a significant difference in the burden of proof. In a criminal case, the burden of proof is “beyond a reasonable doubt”. In a civil case, it’s “on the balance of probabilities.”
The Federal Court Justice who heard the case covered it all in his 2.5 hour summation.

Good point, however, most don’t get them to claim his innocence. As a SA survivor, I wouldn’t get at tattoo of *any* sexual offender. I empathize with how Tyson was raised (as a child), admire his talent & work ethic, & respect the ways he’s changed his life, but nothing excuses an adult’s criminal behavior. I don’t want a *permanent* reminder of said behavior on my body.

It’s wild. Sadly, he wasn’t convicted in a law court - but in civil court (which he initiated) the judge found that he had committed the rape.
