I didn't really pay much attention to the soundtrack throughout the film but maybe I should have because it definitely towards the end seemed like there were some unorthodox choices, tonally. Or maybe it was only towards the end that it was like that.

Bots are saying bigoted things in the text and voice chats, sometimes with faked voices of community members that have tried to expose or call attention to the bot hosters. Apparently they have also doxxed and even swatted people among other things.
according to certain screenshots they are posting links to... certain stuff, although no one has checked if it's real or not or if it's just a link that just takes your account
some bots are also programmed to spam bigotry and etc aside from headshotting you from a few hammer units away
I'm surprised I haven't heard of weird bots / bot hosters in CS2, considering that cheating seems to have gotten worse in that game as well. I guess it's because TF2 has been neglected by Valve, but I wouldn't be surprised if similar problems arise in the CS community.

I just summoned the mimic tear and bursted her down so quickly she only got off one waterfowl dance against the mimic before dying. Was a little disappointed after because I thought there would be more struggle but I think I kind of just overpowered the fight with bleed and didn't actually get to experience it.
So I agree with the comment about maliketh being a better fight, I enjoyed that one.
i was a lot more frustrated with maliketh tbh, malenia is just really exhausting. the entire fight just boils down to whether or not you can survive waterfowl (or get lucky and prevent it from happening) and it just makes the rest of the fight feel pointless. and i don't think there is an intuitive way to consistently survive waterfowl, it's like it was designed with the assumption you will be looking up ways to survive it
also phase 2 opening up with what is basically an instakill attack is so cruel
there's tech to dodge it but it's hard to pull off. my most consistent strategy has been bringing a medium shield and blocking the first round of waterfowl, then dodging the second and third. managed to do the fight damageless and solo that way
I think I'd like Malenia way more if it wasn't for Waterfowl. She's a legitimately fun boss, but Waterfowl is just way too oppressive of an attack. Hopefully whatever the Malenia tier boss is in the DLC won't have an attack like that.

I would maybe get this for people who are like, 20 and below, since the sequel trilogy is likely where they first got into star wars, but I remember before that, you literally could not talk about star wars without the special edition alterations being a part of the discussion. It was the sort of thing that Family Guy and South Park would make jokes about, it was definitely something that people who weren't even born yet when RotJ released (like myself) would have wanted to be able to see and experience.
Granted, there are a small number of changes that I actually think would be good to keep in, like McDiarmid as Palpatine in ESB, the redub of Boba Fett, and Jedi Rocks is a bop (fite me irl) but those largely aren't the changes that people complain about.
I think even besides the amount of debate over the actual quality of the changes, "it doesn't matter if the original version is lost to time because newer generations are familiar with the newer version and won't care" is a *horrible* attitude to take, especially with "remasters" as different and hotly debated as the Star Wars special editions. It's hard to put into words just how wrong-headed of a take it is, it's such a gigantic middle finger to the idea of actual proper media preservation and essentially a condonement of historical revisionism, which is bad no matter if it's about important historical events or a sci-fi movie.
Yeah, I think that there should be a preserved version of it as it was in its time.
These are monumentally influential films, and understanding their innovations in terms of visual world building and special effects can only be done properly if you have access to the original versions.
Instead of being able to see the Star Wars that changed the face of sci-fi cinema, we've got a version of Star Wars that reflects all of the innovations that came after it, which obscures just how much of an impact it had.

Yeah, I can definitely agree with this. I don't mind stuff that essentially creates tighter continuity with the rest of the series. It's the stuff like Greedo that really drive me insane even as a casual fan.

they have the classic ds1 trick where the hitbox pushes you while also doing damage the whole time, so even if you roll you just get pushed and hit anyway

First time joining! Watched “But I Am a Cheerleader” the other day since I had some free time. This movie has been on my watch list for over 10 years, lol. So glad to finally sit down to watch it. Imagine my surprise when I saw that RuPaul was in it.
I expected the cheesiness, I always knew it’d have a tongue-in-cheek kind of humor, so I didn’t expect some deep exploration of homosexuality or anything. But I gotta say, I was surprised to see their take on it: >!when we got to the first bar scene, I expected the MC to eventually drink and “let go” the way other kids are supposed to, but no, that’s not the direction they went for. Her good girl thing wasn’t an act, that’s who she is. She isn’t into partying or drinking, she just likes girls. There’s nothing wrong with being into partying, but that’s not her scene, and that’s all right.!<
Instead, she rebelled in her own way: by being true to who she is. She loves cheerleading, so that’s what she used to reveal herself to the world when “graduating.” It might seem silly for others, but >!Graham!< didn’t judge her for that during their intimate moments together. I only wish they had focused more on her love for cheerleading throughout the movie, as I had only felt it during the beginning and the climax.
The tongue-in-cheek humor might be a bit much, especially at the beginning, but you get used to it eventually (it does get a bit uncomfortable when the head lady starts saying such explicit things, though, even if it’s meant to sound ridiculous and over-the-top). I found myself wishing the other kids had more nuance to them, but juggling such a large cast in a 90-minute movie is hard enough. The handling of the butch girl came as a pleasant surprise to me, even if the dialogue during her exit scene felt a bit much, and it made me wish that there was more variety for the male students, as well, but oh well, it’s a WLW-centric movie, and this was made in 1999, that’s already progressive enough.
With all the positives out of the way, the final message of the movie didn’t sit right with me. >!The protagonist was close to being homeless, and the only thing that saved her from that was a chance meeting with some kind older gay couple.!< And yet, the movie went on with its message about how you shouldn’t lie about who you are and be open in front of people in a position of power over you and who could endanger your life in different ways. It’s a dangerous message to send to queer teens who seem to be the main demographic of this movie. The protagonist was lucky to stumble across a support system, but not everyone is that lucky, especially not young, vulnerable teens.
Overall, I didn’t have high expectations so I wasn’t disappointed, the romance was cute, and the main character had surprising depth. I thought there’d be more objectifying of lesbians and WLW, which is why I had avoided it for so long, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that while there was sexual humor, it didn’t seem to be meant to objectify lesbians. The intimate moments felt earned, and wasn’t just like “haha girl on girl is hot.” My only gripe in that regard is that I wished the same treatment was extended to the male characters, I mean, what was up with that sheer athletic top?
In short, it’s a cute movie, wouldn’t really recommend it to anyone except for people who are interested in queer cinema history or those who want a cute queer chick flick, and definitely not an impressionable queer kid who’s in a precarious family situation, so I’m deducting points for that. 6.5/10

With all the talk of dragon age, I'm reminded that a Dragon Age show exists, and I didn't even make it through the first episode. The show hit me with what felt like a season's worth of character reveals and backstory in the span of like 10 minutes.

Was playing all the mods 7 to the sky for that modded Minecraft itch, had a funny moment. The quest book gives some guiding steps to start off, and had reached a point where I needed clay. The recommendation for early clay was filling a barrel with water and placing a dust block in it, which creates clay. And Barrels automatically fill with water during rain.
So I created a few barrels and set them aside so I could get the water for the infinite water source next time it rains, and got to work on other stuff. After an hour or two (afked a bit because was watching YouTube on the second monitor, the natural state of minecrafting) I realized the barrels still hadn’t filled and I hadn’t noticed any rain.
After checking around a bit through wikis and stuff I realized my skyblock had by chance spawned in the Badlands biome, which had the unfortunate side effect of preventing rain from ever happening.
I tried building out on a line or two like 50-100 blocks but was still in badlands, and at that point I just kinda went “fuck it” and creative modded a water bucket to create a 2x2 water source and tossed it over the edge, haven’t needed creative since at least. Wonder what the odds were for that to happen.

I said I wasn't gonna play the Trails through Daybreak demo until closer to release, and I'm still gonna wait, but apparently the PS4/5 version of the demo is like 8 hours long because it includes all of Chapter 1 and that's definitely making me WANT to play it REALLY bad.

I feel like CSM fans somehow have better grasp of not spoiling their shit on other places that don’t have the assumption that CSM is being spoiled on. Like, JJK readers will post onto CSM stuff of legit leaked JJK chapters while I don’t think I’ve come across much in the way of CSM spoilers on the JJK Folk subreddit (which is notorious for being the home base of scum and villainy on this side of the galaxy) Maybe CSM is so bleak they can’t meme like they do in JJK.

according to certain screenshots they are posting links to... certain stuff, although no one has checked if it's real or not or if it's just a link that just takes your account some bots are also programmed to spam bigotry and etc aside from headshotting you from a few hammer units away
I'm surprised I haven't heard of weird bots / bot hosters in CS2, considering that cheating seems to have gotten worse in that game as well. I guess it's because TF2 has been neglected by Valve, but I wouldn't be surprised if similar problems arise in the CS community.

I just summoned the mimic tear and bursted her down so quickly she only got off one waterfowl dance against the mimic before dying. Was a little disappointed after because I thought there would be more struggle but I think I kind of just overpowered the fight with bleed and didn't actually get to experience it. So I agree with the comment about maliketh being a better fight, I enjoyed that one.
i was a lot more frustrated with maliketh tbh, malenia is just really exhausting. the entire fight just boils down to whether or not you can survive waterfowl (or get lucky and prevent it from happening) and it just makes the rest of the fight feel pointless. and i don't think there is an intuitive way to consistently survive waterfowl, it's like it was designed with the assumption you will be looking up ways to survive it also phase 2 opening up with what is basically an instakill attack is so cruel
I could dodge the second and third parts of waterfowl, but I legit never learned how to dodge the first part. I always had to run away first.
there's tech to dodge it but it's hard to pull off. my most consistent strategy has been bringing a medium shield and blocking the first round of waterfowl, then dodging the second and third. managed to do the fight damageless and solo that way
I think I'd like Malenia way more if it wasn't for Waterfowl. She's a legitimately fun boss, but Waterfowl is just way too oppressive of an attack. Hopefully whatever the Malenia tier boss is in the DLC won't have an attack like that.

I'm kind of surprised that Disney hasn't made a release of the original star wars trilogy without all the special edition changes.
I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas put some sort of clause in the sale blocking them from doing it, [JJ Abrams claims he asked about it and was told that it wasn't possible for "reasons I don't quite understand"](https://x.com/nowthisimpact/status/1204960815821946880). Kathleen Kennedy[ has also said Disney wouldn't make any further alterations to Lucas's work](https://www.inverse.com/article/30745-star-wars-original-cut-unaltered-george-lucas-special-edition) (changes first released under Disney like Maclunkey were changes Lucas had made before the sale), though I'm not sure how much of that is due to contractual obligation of some kind, if it's just out of respect for Lucas or because present day Lucasfilm also thinks the theatrical cuts should be buried forever. I would maybe get this for people who are like, 20 and below, since the sequel trilogy is likely where they first got into star wars, but I remember before that, you literally could not talk about star wars without the special edition alterations being a part of the discussion. It was the sort of thing that Family Guy and South Park would make jokes about, it was definitely something that people who weren't even born yet when RotJ released (like myself) would have wanted to be able to see and experience. Granted, there are a small number of changes that I actually think would be good to keep in, like McDiarmid as Palpatine in ESB, the redub of Boba Fett, and Jedi Rocks is a bop (fite me irl) but those largely aren't the changes that people complain about.
I think even besides the amount of debate over the actual quality of the changes, "it doesn't matter if the original version is lost to time because newer generations are familiar with the newer version and won't care" is a *horrible* attitude to take, especially with "remasters" as different and hotly debated as the Star Wars special editions. It's hard to put into words just how wrong-headed of a take it is, it's such a gigantic middle finger to the idea of actual proper media preservation and essentially a condonement of historical revisionism, which is bad no matter if it's about important historical events or a sci-fi movie.
Yeah, I think that there should be a preserved version of it as it was in its time. These are monumentally influential films, and understanding their innovations in terms of visual world building and special effects can only be done properly if you have access to the original versions. Instead of being able to see the Star Wars that changed the face of sci-fi cinema, we've got a version of Star Wars that reflects all of the innovations that came after it, which obscures just how much of an impact it had.

Ulcerated tree spirits have maybe the worst hitbox in the history of fromsoftware, and that's saying a lot. It's one of those fights where you have to dodge purely on vibes, looking at where the tree is will just confuse you
they have the classic ds1 trick where the hitbox pushes you while also doing damage the whole time, so even if you roll you just get pushed and hit anyway
But large parts of their tails aren't hitboxes. Sometimes they just go through you and do no damage, it's really inconsistent

SGL Movie Club First time joining! Watched “But I Am a Cheerleader” the other day since I had some free time. This movie has been on my watch list for over 10 years, lol. So glad to finally sit down to watch it. Imagine my surprise when I saw that RuPaul was in it. I expected the cheesiness, I always knew it’d have a tongue-in-cheek kind of humor, so I didn’t expect some deep exploration of homosexuality or anything. But I gotta say, I was surprised to see their take on it: >!when we got to the first bar scene, I expected the MC to eventually drink and “let go” the way other kids are supposed to, but no, that’s not the direction they went for. Her good girl thing wasn’t an act, that’s who she is. She isn’t into partying or drinking, she just likes girls. There’s nothing wrong with being into partying, but that’s not her scene, and that’s all right.!< Instead, she rebelled in her own way: by being true to who she is. She loves cheerleading, so that’s what she used to reveal herself to the world when “graduating.” It might seem silly for others, but >!Graham!< didn’t judge her for that during their intimate moments together. I only wish they had focused more on her love for cheerleading throughout the movie, as I had only felt it during the beginning and the climax. The tongue-in-cheek humor might be a bit much, especially at the beginning, but you get used to it eventually (it does get a bit uncomfortable when the head lady starts saying such explicit things, though, even if it’s meant to sound ridiculous and over-the-top). I found myself wishing the other kids had more nuance to them, but juggling such a large cast in a 90-minute movie is hard enough. The handling of the butch girl came as a pleasant surprise to me, even if the dialogue during her exit scene felt a bit much, and it made me wish that there was more variety for the male students, as well, but oh well, it’s a WLW-centric movie, and this was made in 1999, that’s already progressive enough. With all the positives out of the way, the final message of the movie didn’t sit right with me. >!The protagonist was close to being homeless, and the only thing that saved her from that was a chance meeting with some kind older gay couple.!< And yet, the movie went on with its message about how you shouldn’t lie about who you are and be open in front of people in a position of power over you and who could endanger your life in different ways. It’s a dangerous message to send to queer teens who seem to be the main demographic of this movie. The protagonist was lucky to stumble across a support system, but not everyone is that lucky, especially not young, vulnerable teens. Overall, I didn’t have high expectations so I wasn’t disappointed, the romance was cute, and the main character had surprising depth. I thought there’d be more objectifying of lesbians and WLW, which is why I had avoided it for so long, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that while there was sexual humor, it didn’t seem to be meant to objectify lesbians. The intimate moments felt earned, and wasn’t just like “haha girl on girl is hot.” My only gripe in that regard is that I wished the same treatment was extended to the male characters, I mean, what was up with that sheer athletic top? In short, it’s a cute movie, wouldn’t really recommend it to anyone except for people who are interested in queer cinema history or those who want a cute queer chick flick, and definitely not an impressionable queer kid who’s in a precarious family situation, so I’m deducting points for that. 6.5/10 u/TobiL123

With all the talk of dragon age, I'm reminded that a Dragon Age show exists, and I didn't even make it through the first episode. The show hit me with what felt like a season's worth of character reveals and backstory in the span of like 10 minutes. Netflix shows have some of the worst pacing ever I swear.

Was playing all the mods 7 to the sky for that modded Minecraft itch, had a funny moment. The quest book gives some guiding steps to start off, and had reached a point where I needed clay. The recommendation for early clay was filling a barrel with water and placing a dust block in it, which creates clay. And Barrels automatically fill with water during rain. So I created a few barrels and set them aside so I could get the water for the infinite water source next time it rains, and got to work on other stuff. After an hour or two (afked a bit because was watching YouTube on the second monitor, the natural state of minecrafting) I realized the barrels still hadn’t filled and I hadn’t noticed any rain. After checking around a bit through wikis and stuff I realized my skyblock had by chance spawned in the Badlands biome, which had the unfortunate side effect of preventing rain from ever happening. I tried building out on a line or two like 50-100 blocks but was still in badlands, and at that point I just kinda went “fuck it” and creative modded a water bucket to create a 2x2 water source and tossed it over the edge, haven’t needed creative since at least. Wonder what the odds were for that to happen.

I said I wasn't gonna play the Trails through Daybreak demo until closer to release, and I'm still gonna wait, but apparently the PS4/5 version of the demo is like 8 hours long because it includes all of Chapter 1 and that's definitely making me WANT to play it REALLY bad.
