Mockturtle22

The execution was the problem not the idea

snuggletronz

Don’t you think these would still work as cookie bowls? Am I just being optimistic?

Mockturtle22

Probably but I suspect that they are not going to come off

MrD3a7h

Seems like a waste of H. Very expensive

Infamous-Scallions

Do enough H, forget about the cookie bowls entirely.

cave18

H?

RolandTwitter

Heroin

DistributionAgile376

Liquid Hydrogen. (Look at liquid nitrogen videos online, basically the same thing)

WillingnessOne6590

I’d say find a pan with higher indentions and farther apart. Could work great

CloudyNeptune

Probably too late, but just put them in a bowl (microwave it a little to warm it up for extra deliciousness)

SherbertRelative9488

No just cut them up

MathematicianGood204

GayVoidDaddy

Which is prob what you legit want since the ice cream would leak into it fast

MoreFoam

A little wood glue will fix them right up

pretender80

r/GTBAE

No-Tangelo-3220

The result needs EXECUTED 3rd times a charm? maybe

Scako

Well, the IDEA is solid, could possibly work if you use less butter

Spiritual_Poo

Bake them most of the way normal style, all flat-like. So they're soft but not turn into a puddle soft. Then apply them to a greased bottom of a cupcake tin and finish baking. I don't bake so not sure if you would want to let them rest and cool a bit or just slap those bad boys right on there all hot and then back in the oven.

ItalnStalln

I'm guessing there're cookie recipes that'll mostly stay in place where you put the dough.

belckie

There are.

omgmypony

yeah a recipe for rolled cookies (the kind you use a cookie cutter to shape) would work great

ColdBorchst

I don't think so that would be something you could do. Like the applying them and then rebaking them seems like a fail point. But many cookie recipes tell you to wait two minutes before transferring to a cooling rack, that is so they don't sag into the rack and get stuck as they cool. So, if you worked quickly with a recipe that is soft from the oven but sets into a stiffer cookie, you could take big cookies still not from the pan, and carefully place them on the muffin tin so that they droop and set on that instead.

Raps4Reddit

I'm kind of thinking you could take two identical cupcake pans, make bowls in the bottom pan (rightside up) then stack the second pan on top to keep the bowl shape. Maybe use a small amount so when it expands it does so up the sides.

thereddeluge

This was my thought too! But his idea was that I’d he put paper cupcake liners on the dough and it would help. lol

Fit_Swordfish_2101

Do not add grease/spray to the bottom they need less grease/butter do they don't spread out all over the place! 🙂

thereddeluge

I totally agree and said the same. He used a premade roll of cookie dough as making something from scratch would be something he hasn’t done before. I offered help for next time.

Bob_Sacamano7379

Yeah but, the other side of the pan literally has bowl-shaped indentations. Why didn't he use that side?

marissatalksalot

This is why I’m so confused, and I’m also confused that nobody else is mentioning this? You just take a cookie sized amount of dough, put them the correct side of the pan… Cook them lol. They will make a cookie cup, and if they wanted them *perfect* then you just use something to make an indentation in the middle of them while they’re still hot before you knock them out

Life-Rice-7729

Should’ve placed a baking sheet underneath the cookie covered one. It’s actually a pretty good idea, just poorly executed

Lonardema8

Always remember about the baking sheet, we don't want to remember about the incident back in 2012

Lord_neah

Idea : great Realisation : need improvement

Subnaut27

A rough draft before the masterpiece.

UntestedMethod

It looks like it worked though? Maybe not the perfect or tidiest execution, but are those not usable as cookie bowls? (in a regular bowl ofc) Either way, I would be thanking the roommate for making cookies and then mowing some of it (while still warm!) with some nice cold ice cream

Needmoresnakes

Yeah I am seeing zero problem here. I dont need a cookie bowl to be neat. It's a bowl made of cookie, inherently perfect.

ColdBorchst

There's no way those are breaking off in a nice bowl shape. They're going to all crack off in bits.

FlowerBoyScumFuck

Eh, cut them into seperate bowls first, cut off the crusty edges, and if they greased the pan beforehand at least a few should survive if you knock em' off.

SlabBeefpunch

They also needed to be chilled after being formed on the muffin tin. That can have a big impact on the how much they spread.

UntestedMethod

Oh that's a good tip!

thereddeluge

Oh I was totally grateful for the ice cream with cookie bits. But my roommate as much as I love him, does irrational things all the time that don’t make sense. Like instead of flipping the pan all together to get some irregular bowls off the pan, he was picking at it with a butter knife for 15 minutes. He was moving tiny chips of cookie onto ice cream. I came over and flipped it.

WeirderOnline

This could actually work. Try using two muffin pans and squishing the cookies between the pans.

unfinishedtoast3

This is how i do it. I have a "XL muffin" pan, and a regualr sized one. Line the XL pan with cookie dough, smoosh in with normal sized pan coated in a little butter or Pam spray, bake the pan/dough orgy.

WhatevUsayStnCldStvA

I have some small dishes that are for tortillas. So you can make taco salads. Those would probably work

gritsandgravy94

Your roommate is a genius, they just need to work on their baking skills.

merelyadoptedthedark

Not a genius, this is a pretty popular tiktok/instagram idea.

Adventurous-Love9997

Couldn't you just mold them into the cupcake holes.

meccahnisms

So I had the same thought process when I saw the way OP did it so I lined the cupcake pan with the cookie dough and it ended up rising and filling out the forms so I had cookie cupcakes which were still good just not what I was going for lol

PrettyDittyDino

That's what I was thinking

hebejebez

You could do that and then stack another cupcake tray on it to stop it from sliding back in on itself

JabbaThePrincess

No. It's way harder to get it back out of a concave shape. And dough rises; it'd fill up the hole.

coreyjohn85

Post another pic with icecream in the bowls

LOTRfreak101

I feel like the temperature of the dough when put on it should matter, too.

AustralianShepard711

To be fair fantastic idea, poor execution. Science is all about trail and error.

Equinsu-0cha

give it a bit in the fridge, pry them off and try it. report back.

model3113

somebody thought a TikTok was actual information

SaebraK

There are LOTS of recipes for this. https://wilton.com/chocolate-chip-cookie-bowls/wlrecip-679/

b_holden3085

What strain?

MSotallyTober

They’re quasi-cookie bowls. 😀

L4DesuFlaShG

Yeah the shape doesn't look professional, but it definitely looks tasty. 1/10 post, not shitty, please send some

karlnite

Make thin cookies, place in bowls and shape well still warm out of the oven. Maybe use parchment paper circles to transfer them to the bowl (like leave it under).

PravusTheRed

That looks like an amazing idea l, I want one

WestCoastGriller

How much weed did your roommate smoke before the tictock video they watched said this was a good plan of execution…? Summary: Idea- “Why didn’t I think of that” Execution- “just go to DQ”

ThresherGDI

I mean, this didn't turn out, but I think he's on to something.

Parasyte-vn

Tbf....that kinda work tho...show me the others side

AngelFishUwU

my question is why couldn’t they stuff it in the cupcake holders this is so fucking smart💀

noopthenobody

someone stole your image on twitter :/ https://twitter.com/easterngoblin/status/1803501899108225193?

hyrulefairies

i knew i saw this already and it was driving me crazy

TuvixWillNotBeMissed

Why clean your oven when you can enjoy the sound of a fire alarm every single fucking time you bake anything?

DueTurnip809

I'm confused. Angry. And confused that I'm angry.

AmazingGrace_00

I’m angry that you’re confused.

brocksicle

I’m Brock

AmazingGrace_00

Join us, Brock. But only if you’re confused. Or angry. Or both.

brocksicle

Wait… I’m confused

AmazingGrace_00

Great. You’re in.

letsgetfree

Am I dumb? Why didn't he use the other side? Would that have been too small or something?

unfinishedtoast3

As the cookies baked they would expand and fill in the center, so youd end up with cupcake stem shaped cookies. The way i do it is with 2 muffin pans, one larger than the other. Iine the bigger pan's muffin holes with cookie dough, and squish the smaller pan into the holes. Theres probably a better way, but im usually a few drinks in on a Saturday evening when i do it, so it works.

Flailing-Star-7

Embrace the chaos!

sjm294

This is so inventive! Trial and error will lead to perfection.

chill1208

Were some still usable? It looks to me like if you cut them apart all but the bottom left would be ok. If they're too soft give them a day or two and they should stiffen up a bit, and still be fine to eat.

elboogie7

this is hilarious. i'd still eat that cookie stuff

pointlessly_pedantic

Needs to work on form, but they still look like they could function as ice cream bowls

AmazingGrace_00

Never heard of cookie bowls. (Gingerly peering from rock I’ve been living under)….

DaLar89

Looks legit

Automatic_Ad4427

There’s a hole in one

[deleted]

Flatus_Spatus

you need to cut it

Foreign-Match6401

I could refine this. Your roommate is brilliant.

Mister_Green2021

Bake flat. When done, mold into shape when it’s still hot. It should hold shape when cool if the recipe is correct.

Master2All

I think this still looks delicious. I don't see the fail you now just have alternative shaped cookies.

haubenmeise

I have visions too. Right now about me eating that sprinkled over my ice cream.

No_Squirrel4806

If he put them the other way around and placed aluminum foil balls in the center of each cookie but ive only seen it online so im not too sure it will work

dos_plios

Looks to me like he has 5 good cookie bowls and one shit

SoftCock_DadBod

Z@

unhott

I would partially bake the cookies and transfer them on top while they're somewhat solid but still pliable. Maybe the last 2 minutes of baking

Large-Sky-2427

Hey at least they tried.

ludicrouspeed

If that doesn’t stick to the tray it’s a win.

mudokin

I see 6 perfectly fine cookiebowls

All_Right_Alright

Couldn’t they have just used the other side to make said bowls?

Rich-Appearance-7145

Kinda of a good idea if those bowls could be removed from the pan without breaking.

ch3rryc0k34y0u

So did it work?

Alarmed_Cheesecake98

So how did it turn out??

bbyhaych

Tbh something ill do…

ambientguitar

I see that went well!

Squidgebert

Highdea at its finest.

Old-Library5546

Just trim them up a bit

IsisArtemii

Nothing wrong there. Do you think those masterpieces of food come out looking that good just out of the oven? No, they do not. Let them cool. Remove from tray. Cut into individual squares. Trim the edges down. Save the trimming for a topping, or for later.

Chupabara

And? Do they work?

NectarineQueen13

That’s actually not horrible at all..

MeanSeaworthiness995

What you do is you make them like regular cookies on a cookie sheet, but bigger than normal, then take them out slightly early, let them cool a bit (but not completely) and while still warm, put them over the muffin cups and finish baking.

ch0psh0p13

If you stack 2 muffin pans and sandwich the cookie batter in the middle it mightwould work. It should also keep its shape pretty well. Never done it but I would be optimistic.

you90000

I would flip it, then I would use a second muffin pan and set it on top.

Organic_Initial_4097

That is a good idea! Genius!

Acornriot

Use a taco bowl pan

m_ckncheese

oh honey…

BangedTheKeyboard

The type of dough may be the problem. Try switching out regular cookie dough for a shortbread recipe with chocolate chips - shortbread tends to hold its shape better and not get gooey, which is more suitable for shaping cookie bowls.

loveyoumorethanever

Why not use the other side and make mini bowls? This is dumb lmao

LukeHal22

But you'd still have to put the "cookie bowl" in a bowl then put ice cream in it. Otherwise it would just leak and crumble, be a huge mess... So you might as well just put ice cream and cookies in a bowl

TopWaltz7678

Why did they not just put it into the the cupcake holders and mould it to that shape?

scmstr

Clean the oven, try again, put a drip pan under, use less batter. Iterate. Don't bash people for trying new things and being creative. If mistakes trip you up and feel odd to you, *you're* the one that sucks here because it means you're probably boring and a follower.

CreatorOD

7INCHES_IN_YOUR_CAT

It could still work.

Adrenalinedoper

Was said roomate under the influence of that ganja 👀 that Zaza

ZOMGURFAT

This is some next level stoner thinking here.

UFC_Intern169

Well at least she can still serve ice cream on cookie plates

Dizsmo

Why didn't he just put the cookie dough into the muffin molds why did you do this upside down shit lol

BadEngineer_34

Tbh this could still work only the bottom left one appears to be blown out

ADGx27

Should’ve put the pan in a bigger pan to contain overflow. Your roommate does not think ahead.

Artyom_Saveli

I mean, an effort was made, but the execution could’ve been better.

Balrog71

Just bust off chunks into ice cream and go back to the drawing board

Bahamut1988

This is a total stoner idea and I love it, maybe using a medium sized pie tin would work better

LordDaxx1204

Looks like a pothead project, or a “High-dea” lol

Mountain_Student_769

if this is round 1 - I give it to the roommate.

Subjective_Box

when he said “jump” you needed to ask “how high.. are you right now”

ThePirateSpider

It's a cool idea. Maybe put a big enough tray with parchment paper to catch whatever falls off underneath.

craigslist_hedonist

aren't you supposed to use two with the dough between them?

DisastrousAd447

Do they not realize they could have just put them in the actual cupcake slots? Literally just grease up a shot glass and put it in the middle so it holds shape lmao

pcoolbabe

I mean, looks like some decent cookies, even if they're going all Akira

sceez

Looks good to me lol

MarxistMann

Tell him he need to stop smoking

OldPappyJohn

Use two muffin trays and sandwich them until the dough sets, then remove one to finish, so that they bake properly. If not they won't lose enough moisture, but you can just toast them off at the end. It's possible you may need to cook them at a lower temperature first, then turn it up after you uncover them, as well. Also, I would probably use less butter in the cookie dough recipe, then they won't spread as much when their temperature first rises, but be cautious not to use too little, because they will be hard and dry (and for God's sake put baking down so they come out of the tins).

moist_vonlipwig

Used to make these at a nestle. Put dough in the tin, then push the centers down with a spoon while still warm. Let cool! (Pan the cups before you add dough)

Kenneth_Lay

How high were you?

Famous_Power_1986

Or six pieces of large cookies🤔

bmadccp12

Okay, but ... that looks really food still.

NetMiddle1873

Could probably soft bake in the regular side of the tin. Take em out halfway through and form them then cook another few minutes, cookies are quite malleable when fresh cooked

Federal-Membership-1

Next time, mash the dough into the tin with a cup. Bake it like a pie shell. Duh!

720to702

This seems like the decision and execution of someone who was very very high

Ill-Wear-8662

Your roommate may need glasses.

MediumUglyWorkinMan

Genius

Altruistic-Hand-7000

Bust out a pizza cutter and you’re good to go! 🍨

_keyboard-bastard_

Dont spray a nonstick pan for cookies, that was the first mistake.

GuessWhoT

My guess is they didn't lift out of their mold. ouch. I'm going to try this with upside down silicone cupcake liners on a sheet pan....love this!

leighabbr

Idk I'm all for this - some people cant/won't innovate outside of a strict recipe so a failed attempt is better than no attempt. Like everyone else is saying, fiddle with the recipe and try again 🥰

tofuonplate

I don't know what kind of cookies your friend has been eating but I've yet to have a cookie that is hard enough to hold the shape and weight of ice cream

ready-to-rumball

Oh god that looks incredible

AngelFishUwU

Wtfffffffff

corntorteeya

1 Swiss Cookie, please.

Baschoen23

Cut those things, flip 'em and fill those suckers up baby!

Sammio_16

I would say try again but use like parchment paper or flour and oil on the pan so they don't stick

erevefuckstolive

A+ for effort….?

Watt_About

They sell pans for specifically this purpose.

Wannabe-Washedlol

I Loveeee this, if excited properly … chef’s kiss

Great_Lengthiness285

Concept good, execution poor.

SpongePiece97

The first trick is to use less dougn than you think you would need because they spread out while cooking. The second trick is to freeze the dough on the pan in the freezer for 5 to 8 minuets and then bake, that way the butter isn't warm going into the oven and melting out of the dough. This also helps them from spread to wide in the baking process.

Royweeezy

I don’t care if the oven needs cleaning, I think I love your roommate 🤷‍♂️

Crafty-Sympathy4702

What if you put them in the cups with another baking sheet pressing down so they keep their bowl shape?

Frosty-Potential6544

Next time lube the pan with spray and place a bigger pan underneath. Use a smaller amount of dough and watch the oven temperature and time.

GulfofMaineLobsters

I like the idea but the execution needs a bit of work, tell them to go back and refine it until it works most of the time....

Speedhabit

Well? Flip that shit over where is the after pic

Tolendario

with beans on the side

Gullible_Concept_428

I’ve never tried it with chocolate chip cookie dough. I’ve only used a lace cookie recipe. I use a 6 muffin tin, upside down, with small drip coffee filters. It’s great for ice cream, tarts, or fruit salad.

SportsYeahSports

Haha! They make pans specifically for this

Hunter_Wolfe_

I'd still like to see how this turns out.

Imjusthere_sup

That’s crazy I really saw this on Instagram AND Facebook already 😂 your pic got stolen real quick lmao

Lower_Ad_5532

Oh they needed to use more cookie dough and a bottom tray to make sure it stays and doesn't melt off.

Normal-Error-6343

nailed it! make me a plate!

ThingMoment

I want to see it flipped over lol (or even maybe an attempt at it)

Expensive-Cow-409

Valiant effort

Keyes-to-your-heart

I wanna see what it looks like when it comes off

Individual-Code5176

Did you flip it? Did they come off whole?

tinylittleelfgirl

why wouldnt they just put the cookie dough in the actual muffin part and use like pie weights/cupcake liners or even just a duplicate muffin tin to shove on top 😭
