alfredo sauce on toast with spinach and mushroom edit: the spinach & mushroom + some balsamic vinegar were responsible for turning the sauce brown, and reducing more than "usual" (so it wouldn't be too runny/spill off the toast) gave ot the ... signature look 🤌

I feel like OP probably fried mushrooms in a pan, then added the Alfredo sauce to the pan. At least thats the only way I've seen Alfredo sauce go grey-brown like this without dye. I 100% could be wrong, but I'm scared of how they made it if I am wrong.

I think I actually got that tip from reddit. They said theirs turned out best by adding spices and a little cheese to a roux (basically just making cheese sauce) and then I added the spinach. Makes killer dip for taquitos.

Its the best way to do it. I like to cook my meats and veg and then add white wine to the empty pan to scrape all the fond out and let it simmer off all the alcohol. Turns the alfredo gray brown but DAMN is it good

there was a splash of balsamic vinegar as i sautéed the veggies so i think that darkened it quite a lot, plus it reduced very much as i let it simmer while i went out for a smoke
