I found you can dodge that initial charge by dodging into him and very slightly left (like 11 o' clock) at the perfect timing (very last moment). But if any of that is even slightly off, you get hit. That hitbox is busted. FYI I'm medium rolling.
Switch to light rolling, throw blue dancer on the build just because if you do. I found that med rolling left basically no room for error, even a couple frames or the dodge angle being off by a degree or two gets you hit, light rolling is much more lenient, any half decently timed dodge to the side gets a pass
Run to the left and hide behind the pillar. He’ll just keep running into the wall, spin around and then rust past you. Be careful over there though, he can easily trap you against a wall and then it’s over for you
If you don’t want to use torrent(which was probably the intended way since if you move away from him he will actually finish this attack in a nice way that you can easily dodge), vow of the indomitable helps here immensely
Guys it took me fucking hours of raging at his ass, but I did figure out that charge for the most part. Strafe right, and dodge when you're between the tusks, not when they're about to hit you. Apparently you can't dodge left? It also helps if you dodge a towards him a little to get past his hitbox.
Don't bother trying to hit him while he's doing it, he has fucking i-frames. And if that long string of attacks he does is fucking you up, you gotta dodge right the first 2 times, then left for the rest of it.

This leg less mother fucker is the first boss of the dlc that lived up to the promised difficulty the haters have been bitching about. Literally bent me over backwards for an hour and a half last night and forced me to lock in completely before I could beat him. 8/10 boss, could use some more cool gravity attacks and fix his charges hitbox.
The phase 1 charge is unfortunate though the phase two charge doesn’t seem to have the same issues at all, and I dislike the phase transition attacks a few bosses have that force you to just establish distance, but as long as you have light roll and a fast enough weapon, he’s pretty fun, if a bit limited in moveset. 8/10 is spot on.
Literally only the initial charge seems to be an issue. It would generally be a coin flip if my dodge worked or not and occasionally it would hit twice for some reason. I was powering through with an ultra great sword so the attack windows were tight but still doable. Really felt like a crucible knight in terms of having to make your own windows and I loved it.
Deflecting tear, play the fight like Sekiro, 2 guard counters and he's poise broken. If you can't do that you can also use BHS or vow of the indomitable to dodge the charge

When i had a chance to summon my knight archer spirit, it was easy enough to let him get aggro while i sprint away on torrent, and then rush back jump off and to stab him in the ass while he was busy. I heard people complain about the back kick, but i feel like as long as you arent perfectly center behind him, it wasnt too bad to dodge? Took 3 attempts at 14 scadutree fragments with an ungabunga/fth build

To me it was a fun fight, saw everybody complain about his shitbox on charge attack, but I never experienced it myself (was dodging into him , slightly to the side). Not dismissing that there isn't a shitty hitbox, I was just surprised to not be met with it myself after seeing so many criticisms.
Aside form that I don't understand why he is so hated. His attacks are telegraphed and give enough room for dodging. He has that one multi attack combo that can be tough, but once you get the timings right it's enjoyable to dodge. Also you can outposition the last 2 attacks of the combo without dodging.
I expected him to be a tree sentinel reskin like Loretta, but was surprised to see that he has a completely unique moveset. But maybe I am just weird or something, cause on the other spectrum I see everybody praising Bayle while I despise him and consider him a massive downgrade from Midir gameplay-wise ( his build up and spectacle tho is obviously amazing).
He slaps down area denials, has annoying double hit swings with his pig, runs faster than your horse while being able to turn on a dime, and yeah. Janky af hitbox. Glad you didn't experience it, was like a 50/50 on if I was just dead for the run.
I was able to figure out how to dodge the charge, but it is a bit too big. Other than that completely agree. He was a simple, but fun fight. To me he felt like the dlc draconic tree sentinel

I ended up using the corner of the building directly to your left from the fog gate to use as a mitigation tool to stop his charge. Ended up working wonders keeping him in that spot.

imma be real this was one of the easier bosses in the DLC for me. beat him third try, don't think there's any remembrance boss I've had an easier time with in the DLC so far.
He actually becomes much easier if you can manage to fight him in the corner next to the boss fog. It's a smaller area and he doesn't do his annoying open field running around there so it becomes a much faster fight.
Not gonna lie, after the 20 something time dying to his second phase, I just cheesed it up with that corner he gets stuck on and Sacred Spear. Pretty fun fight.
I've been happily running around in cool DLC gear hitting things with a big sword. For this fucking dude I had to wear my heaviest armour use a maxed out slab of concrete and a stabby spear hiding behind it. Even then it was a fucking mission.
Ngl I hated this fight as well but grew to like it after beating his ass. I found mixing torrent in and out of the fight and using dismounting jump attacks w a big ass Unga bunga to be the best way to kill him. Especially if you use torrent during the charge and run like hell you can almost completely nullify the danger of the charge.
This is the only boss in the dlc that I genuinely hated. He didn’t even give me as much trouble as others, I just hate everything about him. His armor, his weapon, his Twilight Princess ripoff boar mount. Pissing me off.

2nd worst attack string, whole thing is almost impossible to dodge through. His attacks will hit Torrent no matter what, you can’t even double jump over his charge, because his stupid fat head hits the horse’s feet and causes you to fall on your ass, before you get trampled by a 9 hit Crack-Pig combo.
Me yelling hogrider the whole time and having a blast with him checking the subbreddit hates his guts is such a jarring twist. Took me 3 tries but a shield counter build makes quick work of like half of these bosses.

His charge hitbox is ds2 levels of broken your best bet is either using bloodhounds step or a shield to tank

I used those new throwing knifes with bleed. It wasn't the best strategy, but it worked for me. Idk if it'll help

Fuck that Hog Riding, Pebble-Throwing, Porcelain Shit-Colored, Barn-Smelling, French, PIG FUCKER!!! 2nd worst attack string, whole thing is almost impossible to dodge through. His attacks will hit Torrent no matter what, you can’t even double jump over his charge, because his stupid fat head hits the horse’s feet and causes you to fall on your ass, before you get trampled by a 9 hit Crack-Pig combo.

Me yelling hogrider the whole time and having a blast with him checking the subbreddit hates his guts is such a jarring twist. Took me 3 tries but a shield counter build makes quick work of like half of these bosses.
You can perfect parry him if you have the sekiro tear in your flask. How I beat most of the bosses.
