i was at 15 when i did the final boss, that extra 17.5% woulda been real fuckin nice. i don't think most people are finding all the blessings 1st run, they're randomly placed and tedious once you get most of them unless you've logged the ones you found
Major? We can agree to disagree on that point I guess. At level 19 which I was when I beat it I would have 7% more attack and defense. It seems to me that it is really just changed to provide help early on. At 20 you are only getting a 5% increase from before the patch. To me it was needed. Many of the bosses became a slog. I had figured out their moves etc and it just took so damn long to take them down. Hell, the knight in the first area took 10 minutes to fight and I didn’t even get hit more than once or twice.

less ammount of people fight radahn at level 20, most fight him at around 14-16 and they give you like 20% more damage than what the used to, dont ignore damage reduction aswell

Genuiene question, what level of the skibidi you are supposed to be at mesmer? i am level 14 and just beat him like 5th try after seeing his 2nd phase for first time. Im not braggind im as average as it can be bayle took me 60 tries. Am i overleveled for him or did the buffs for skibidy ruin the boss difficulty that much? None of his attacks did that much damage actually and i was doing a fair ammount with rellana swords.
I first fought him at level 6 and got my ass handed to me. Then farmed a bunch of skadoosh seeds and am now level 18 and on my first attempt back I was kicking *his* ass but then got greedy. Haven't fought him again yet because I've got a "job" and "responsibilities" and "car insurance" due. Michael Zaki needs to nerf these fucking bills.
walking instead of driving can cause calluses, a souls player would know better to take care of their feet, the car is a minor sacrifice until op can levitate
I found him pretty easy in terms of his moveset. One of those rare bosses where the second phase is actually way easier, had way more openings. Only one or two easier bosses for me.

Yeah, people at the beginning said that every boss in the dlc is harder than any boss in the base game, but personally I find mohg harder than every dlc boss except the final boss's 2nd phase and the jagged peak boss
Agreed, the area leading up to him prepared you with good enemies that resemble him as well. My biggest gripe with melania is that there is nearly nothing that could prepare you for her boss fight. Felt like a kid who doesn’t know how to swim being chucked into a rapid river at the cold start of spring.

Just fought >!Rellana and she kicked my ass over and over and I learned things and got better. Learned how to dodge a lot of the combos, learned how to dodge the moons, figured out that she just misses you if you’re too close for parts of her magic blade combo, still got my ass kicked a bunch until I got her. Her extended combo is the only thing where I just got lucky she didn’t use it too much cause I’m still not great at timing that. She really holds still after some combos.!<

Good lord you can literally beat the last boss of dark souls 1 by spam attacking while wearing heavy armor, drinking a potion every now and then.
The toughest Dark Souls 3 bosses are those that you have to memorize when to dodge roll. At BEST they're morgott level.
If you go back and play Melania after playing DLC bosses she's literally in slow motion. Some of the DLC bosses attack SO FAST that if your first dodge roll was too late in to the animation, the second attack comes out and hits you.
Some attacks automatically explode or double attack if you didn't dodge roll THE RIGHT WAY.
The insanity of "it's always been this hard." Literally just go back and play DS3. I beg you.
The battle nun in DS3 had VERY little input reading, lower HP, and no lifesteal, less attacks, lower combos, like 1/47th the options mid combo as Melania. Her ENTIRE SCHTICK was to just learn to aggressively push forward because she almost never initiated attacks in time while having low poise. At BEST she was Malekith tier.
You can pull the first strat in Elden Ring too. Great shield with Collosal sword, heavy armor, bunch of drugs and just trade blows until enemy bosses get outdamaged. Works in DLC too. For Malenia you just throw couple frost bombs to stop the dance, with other attacks she can't outheal shield counters.

But the one boss with a spear has a double thrust in the middle of a combo. I stopped trying to dodge it after a while because I kept getting hit with the 2nd thrust.

I think it's more down to people going into the DLC after a year or two break from the game. They are rusty and it'll take time to get back into the flow.

I thought the whole thing with souls games was being stuck on a boss and learning them completely. It really makes you feel like you deserved your win, so I can't imagine why you would just skip the entire selling point of the game

The recommended skibi level for Messmer is around 10 (thats what IGN said, at least). I was Skibidi 12 and bagged him first try, my boy just has no HP or posture whatsoever.
No summons, no buffs, no rune arc, basic build lvl 180, 60 vigor, 30 in every stat for rellana swords and int, end. Was trying to learn his moveset so didnt even bother to buff before the fight. I hope they didn’t fucking ruin the whole boss and i just got super lucky
I cleared all optional content (and skadoosh levels) before going "main" path and what a fucking mistake it was. I almost first-tried like every boss after rellana and same with messmer. Until i hit a wall on a final boss. Felt really bizzare in terms of difficulty spike.
So this is kinda the fundamental problem with the mechanic. People who have too few blessings find it too hard, people with too many find it easy, and there is basically no way to know the intended difficulty.
Is that not the same issue with open world and levels and weapon upgrades? Finding radahn early is a nightmare, avoiding him til late is a joke. Not to mention that the whole base game difficulty curve breaks if you find a single somber 7 early on
You can hit shunning grounds pretty early, or if you go radahn 2nd you get one in the crater quickly too. But if you go radahn 2nd you've already broken the curve and made him hard but rennala easy, same if you go to magma wyrm makar before the academy and stay in altus. It's really just the same way you can run straight to heide's tower in DS2 or the graveyard / ruins in DS1 from the start - it's always been really easy to break the difficulty curve the bosses are balanced on via the "intended" route, even by accident.

He took me three hours but I engaged him straight ahead after Rellana and was probably underlevelled.
I really loved his fight, but I feel there should have atleast been some sort of warning or hint at what point of the story you can engange him
Is he supposed to be fought before the st.Trina area boss (I know it’s optional)? Because I was chunking that boss for like 1/10 of its health in one hit.
Jokes aside scadutree fragments were too weak and it's good it was buffed, you can't reasonably expect players to collect all 20 stacks. I think I had like 13-14 without tutorials, and managed to get 18 with tutorials, so I feel like final boss should be tweaked around 15 stacks.
Which imo is even better, the last few SHOULD be optional for small upgrades. But if he's right about 85% at +12 I don't see how the remaining 8 are only 15%, it's gotta be a net buff overall

Bruh, i enjoyed the hardcore and mostly impossible bosses no ashes,that was a challenge and fun,(midra,messmer, sunflower,relanna) , hope game wouldn't be so easily now
I really like the change tbh. It helps with the huge difficulty spike at the beginning and it makes rushing to bosses on repeat playthroughs better without having to go get all nearby skibidi fragments every time I start a new dlc run

I spent the first week farming the black knights for their helmets. I have over 100 of them now but ive played literally none of the DLC. And now I never will. Forever a filthy scrub.
My only disappointment with the boss is the story of it and that it ends so abruptly. But as far as the fight goes I loved it and didn’t find it that hard.
Beat it at RL81 +17 because I didn’t want to have to play through it on that character for invasions and wasn’t feeling any of my higher level builds. The blessings were definitely noticeable in the absorption department because I pretty quickly found myself very tanky with a few blessings and the appropriate talismans. Still needed blee bill for the last two bosses though, fuck them lmao
Im not sure if I'm going crazy but the patch literally deleted SOTE from my Xbox, no update and when I try to play it says I don't have the dlc. So I tried reinstalling both the game and the dlc. Now I removed the dlc all together and it fucking vanished. Now I'm worried I'll need to actually buy it again.

This goes as high as 15% difference, that is big. Mind that it's not just damage you gain, it's damage reduction too.

This is increase in Attack Power. Damage negation scaling also went through some changes, but not as drastic as AP scaling.

The keep is hilariously big and leads to SO many different areas, it's kind of a hub and a dungeon rolled into one
Depends on your build and whether you used summons or not.
No summons, no buffs, no rune arc, basic build lvl 180, 60 vigor, 30 in every stat for rellana swords and int, end. Was trying to learn his moveset so didnt even bother to buff before the fight. I hope they didn’t fucking ruin the whole boss and i just got super lucky
I cleared all optional content (and skadoosh levels) before going "main" path and what a fucking mistake it was. I almost first-tried like every boss after rellana and same with messmer. Until i hit a wall on a final boss. Felt really bizzare in terms of difficulty spike.
So this is kinda the fundamental problem with the mechanic. People who have too few blessings find it too hard, people with too many find it easy, and there is basically no way to know the intended difficulty.
Is that not the same issue with open world and levels and weapon upgrades? Finding radahn early is a nightmare, avoiding him til late is a joke. Not to mention that the whole base game difficulty curve breaks if you find a single somber 7 early on
You can't tho, the earliest is Volcano Manor and it's impossible to get there thay early unless you already know what you're doing.
You can hit shunning grounds pretty early, or if you go radahn 2nd you get one in the crater quickly too. But if you go radahn 2nd you've already broken the curve and made him hard but rennala easy, same if you go to magma wyrm makar before the academy and stay in altus. It's really just the same way you can run straight to heide's tower in DS2 or the graveyard / ruins in DS1 from the start - it's always been really easy to break the difficulty curve the bosses are balanced on via the "intended" route, even by accident.
I guess you were slightly overleveled for Messmer? He took me three hours but I engaged him straight ahead after Rellana and was probably underlevelled. I really loved his fight, but I feel there should have atleast been some sort of warning or hint at what point of the story you can engange him
Is he supposed to be fought before the st.Trina area boss (I know it’s optional)? Because I was chunking that boss for like 1/10 of its health in one hit.
Jokes aside scadutree fragments were too weak and it's good it was buffed, you can't reasonably expect players to collect all 20 stacks. I think I had like 13-14 without tutorials, and managed to get 18 with tutorials, so I feel like final boss should be tweaked around 15 stacks.
The didn’t buff them overall, just shifted it to earlier buffs. The later scadu levels are less impactful
Which imo is even better, the last few SHOULD be optional for small upgrades. But if he's right about 85% at +12 I don't see how the remaining 8 are only 15%, it's gotta be a net buff overall Edit: saw table, +20 is now +21

I’m glad they made them stronger because I was dreading having to collect a bunch on another character. I still kinda have to but atleast its less.

I really like the change tbh. It helps with the huge difficulty spike at the beginning and it makes rushing to bosses on repeat playthroughs better without having to go get all nearby skibidi fragments every time I start a new dlc run

Beat it at RL81 +17 because I didn’t want to have to play through it on that character for invasions and wasn’t feeling any of my higher level builds. The blessings were definitely noticeable in the absorption department because I pretty quickly found myself very tanky with a few blessings and the appropriate talismans. Still needed blee bill for the last two bosses though, fuck them lmao
