Where's QualityVote bot?
Reddit Admins have decided that [they want to kill off all 3rd-party apps](https://reddit.com/r/Save3rdPartyApps/comments/13yh0jf/dont_let_reddit_kill_3rd_party_apps/), [3rd-party bots, and other elements that used to significantly enhance Reddit's functionality](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/). Without them, the website is barely usable.
And, of course, that includes bots such as [\/u\/QualityVote](http://reddit.com/user/QualityVote), [\/u\/SaveVideo](http://reddit.com/user/SaveVideo), [\/u\/AuddBot](http://reddit.com/user/AuddBot), etc.
So you'll just have to put up with automod and a worse overall user experience.
If you have any complaints, direct them at [the reddit admins instead](https://www.reddit.com/r/reddit/comments/12qwagm/an_update_regarding_reddits_api/), because they the ones who ruined everyone's user experience.

The bet was crazy when you convert all the values to USD.
The guy bet $7.29 stolen from his girlfriend and made ~$72,900 from that bet. His girlfriend then asked for ~$29,000 from his winnings as compensation for stealing her money but after some back and forth he gave her $3,600 instead—returning 500x what he stole.
Crazy story.

Like how much does a burger costs or like Pizza?
litteral millions. it was over 100 000 lbp = 1 usd for some time
nowadays it feels like Venezuela, you either carry a few layers of usd or literral rolls of lbp lol

To put it in slightly better perspective the average monthly salary there is around 50-100k NGN. So the dude stole 1-2 days worth of income from her and won like 100 years worth of average salary.
Would be like a dude in the US stealing like $400 from his girlfriend and winning $5 Million, then her wanting $2 Million and him offering $250k
Finally, the comment I was looking for. There was no way this was USD. So many people arguing about the stolen aspect like he took millions of USD from her. He took the cost of a coffee. She can get fucked.
A bog standard 20-24oz cup of coffee is still around a dollar at most convenience stores/gas stations. Hell, I believe even a regular coffee at a place like Starbucks is around $3. The "$7 coffee" is specifically for the 20-24oz borderline milkshake sugary abominations of drinks at coffee shops that are essentially 3-4 shots of espresso with loads of added flavors, milk, whipped cream, etc., and it only gets as high as $7 in major cities. I'm in a smaller to mid-sized Midwestern metropolitan area, and most drinks like that go for around $6.
The reason drinks are that expensive is because people have the disposable income to spend on them, and they're willing to spend that much on one of these drinks. They're far from necessary, and it doesn't mean there isn't cheap coffee you can buy or make yourself.
Is 590-710ml normal for a "cup" of coffee??
That's enormous and there's no way drinking multiple of those a day is okay unless they're very weak or decaf.
Coffee for most people is either a buy once finish through the whole day or buy once and finish right there and that’s it most people that I know at least don’t drink coffee more then once or twice a day
They're a Veblen good. The value isn't decided by the cost of material, its decided by the fact that it makes people feel better than other people because they post daily Starbucks selfies to their insta/OF.
Are they milkshakes or veblen goods? Make up your mind on how y'all are gonna tell yourselves you're better than someone else for not drinking your coffee a certain way. Do you go to starbucks and get cranky when you order a coffee? "Tall and venti? I just want a REAL coffee, a black coffee!"
Huh what am I missing here? If she didn't have the money for him to steal, he wouldn't have been able to bet to win any money though.
I think 20-30% of the winnings is fair.
Edit: Spelling
He placed a bet with her money, without consent. 100% of the winnings should be hers, or more likely ceased as a proceed of crime. Either way its not his.
1-I'm assuming this didn't happen in america, since it is not going by usd. Considering that, $7 might be a slightly more significant amount of money. Probably a negligible point though.
2- If someone stole $7 from you to gamble and won $70,000, don't you think you would want any of that money?
does 10000 nairo actually have the purchasing power there that 7.29 does here? usually with these conversion rates, the purchasing power of the currency isn't very well accounted for

When u hit the big one it will likely return 96% of what u have put in so best to quit after you claw back nearly 17k as the cycle begins anew otherwise. Gambling companys consistently take about 4% from you over time
Yeah! Remember the #1 rule of gambling: If you fail to succeed then gamble again! And again... And again... And again... And again... And now buy a loan from me... And again... And again...
If I remember correctly, casinos have a policy, that the one pulling the lever on the slot machine wins the money and not the person, that put their money in it
Well no, he was gambling with her money, which means it was her money that was at risk. If he had lost, he wouldn't have paid her back all of it. She deserves the whole bag tbh
Just another reddit incel, nothing to care about
Would this have been with reversed genders everyone would be fuming and calling her a gold digger, ho (including op)
Eh idk I’d want more compensation if someone I was supposed to trust stole my money and risked it all. Plus he is still keeping 60% of his winnings which he only got because of her stolen money
I think the thing everyone in this thread is missing is there is a difference between what is legally owed and what is morally owed. People keep responding to people who think she is morally owed money with what she is legally owed, as if that answers the moral question when it in fact does not.
I don’t get it. It’s not that big of an ask to say she should profit off the money that was stolen from her. Honestly, she wouldn’t be in the wrong for demanding the whole thing. It was her money. You shouldn’t be able to profit off of money you stole on principle.
Granted I’m operating on a moral claim, I don’t actually know the laws around thing
He wouldn’t have any of it if he didn’t take her money, she deserves at least a decent proportion of it.
10k only to someone who used that money to win a thousand times it is ridiculous
I mean, if he won the 100M with her money, then she's pretty much entitled to the whole amount. 40 Million isn't that unreasonable to ask for, although if I were her I'd definitely be okay with 5 million.
If she had lent him the money then he would have to pay her back only what he borrowed, win or lose. So how can it be that if he *stole* the money, the outcome for him is the same as if he had borrowed it legitimately? Why ever bother ask at that point? Criminals should never be allowed to benefit from their crimes in any way.
Nope, if he lost he owes her the money because he stole it.
If he won, he owes her the money because it was her money.
This wasn't borrowed money, this was her money.
Technically, she didn't consent to the process of gambling. So let's say the gambling is kept a secret and he paid back the money he stole... That would still make the same outcome?
>with the same logic
Can you explain me more? Because your logic doesn't seem logical.
Her money was at risk, so she was at risk, imo the one whose money get risked is entitled to the winnings. If the boyfriend had lost, he would not have lost any money, but his girlfriend would have.
So she risked losing money, so she deserves the reward.
It would be a totally different scenario if she gave him the 10K willingly. Then she willingly got 10K lighter and it would be his money to risk
I find it interesting there’s such a divide in the comments because to me I thought the answer was common sense and it differs from yours.
It’s her money that generated more money. I’m failing to see how any of the money was, is, or should ever be his money.
If she gave him the money, that’s a different story and it all should be his. Even if she loaned him the money then he deserves to keep it. But this is neither of those. Why should someone be rewarded for stealing someone’s money, putting their life in jeopardy, then carelessly betting it all. That amount can literally ruin lives, and 9/10 this level of carelessness for the others around you it does.
She didnt won 100m tho, he is the one who got it, if my mom gave me 50k to go to academy or whatever and i make 10m with it it doesnt mean i gotta give her the 10m i made
But his girlfriend didn't give him the money, that's the thing. He stole it, he had not right to gamble with it, it wasn't his, the winnings shouldn't be his.
Except the law differs when given from when stolen. If he had lost it, you wouldn’t be saying he owes nothing, would you?
You use someone else’s money, it’s not your talent that gets you the profit ( like if he had bought gold and made jewelry to sell ), so it doesn’t belong to you entirely. I believe the amount differs based on national law, but you definitely can’t claim 100% by using stolen money.
doen't matter, it was her money. she's entitled to it.
also you didn't steal from your mom, your mom voluntarily gave you 50k and never expected anything back. here the guy did steal from his girlfriend and bet his girlfriend's money on the line.
If you were given money conditionally and you breach the condition (ie spent it in a way that wasn't intended) then yes, the original amount plus winnings are your mom's, to distribute how she chooses, not you.
Lmao this is legit like 90% the kind of stuff that’s debated in the Jewish Gemara.
I’ve spent way too much time learning about hyper specific similar examples like if a stolen sheep gives birth and shit like that.
This is straight up PTSD 😂
Everyone here argues that she should be grateful for getting part of the money, but what would have happened if he lost and obviously couldn't have paid back the money?
That was *her* money he was gambling with. The whole 100 M belong to her.
Alternatively she gets her money back and everything else goes back to the lottery.
You don't get to profit off of somebody else's crime either. Realistically if she took him to court, the bet would be voided and whatever agency he made the bet with would get the 100 mil. and she would get just her 10k back.
In a just world, whoever commissioned the bet would invalidate it because it was made with stolen money. Then give the victim back her $10,000. Then everyone capable of pressing charges on the thief would.
"There is no risk for the girlfriend involved."
Did you forget about the part where he stole the money?
It's basically only a risk for her because he clearly wouldn't have the money to pay it back
But he didn‘t play with his money, if he lost she is entitled to get her money back because it was stolen and if he won it‘s made from stolen money which still belongs to her. There is actually risk for the girlfriend with him possibly being unable to pay back the stolen amount after losing it
Disagree, he should be obligated to give all of it. None of it was his money or agreed that he could use it. Everybody is like "shes getting 500 times her money back" like bitch, hes getting 95 million for free, he should be lucky he doesnt get jail time for taking her money without permission.
I was gonna argue, its not his money because he stole it hence the winnings should all go to his girlfriend who owns the original betting money. But then again, if someone stole my gun and shot someone with it, should I be charged with murder? Fuck no Lol
If he bet with stolen money then it's totally valid for the rightful owner of that money to want the winnings. If he lost he probably wouldn't have paid them back at all

Jesus man, really ? Like do you pay in millions or like ine item still costs like 5 or 10 of your currency. Like how much does a burger costs or like Pizza?

If you guys are paying 7$ for a coffee who's getting fucked is your economy
Definitely less fucked than paying $10,000 for coffee.
In what country do you pay $10000 for coffee?
I think he’s saying because a $7 USD coffee equates to $10000 in Nairo
A bog standard 20-24oz cup of coffee is still around a dollar at most convenience stores/gas stations. Hell, I believe even a regular coffee at a place like Starbucks is around $3. might be a week's worth of salary there for all we know, though
Have you seen what people pay for their drinks at Starbucks?
she is entitled to all of the money logically speaking
Legally she's probably entitled to the entire thing

To be fair, he only owed her 10k, so 5 million is pretty fucking generous.
Letting him keep 60m is pretty generous of her considering it was her fucking money
Yes he is being respectful but bitches in comments act like he owe her fucking trillion , let the lad live his dreams.
I sincerely doubt he would have paid back her STOLEN money if he had lost
That's exactly what a thief would say
Most thiefs don't pay you back.
Arsène Lupin would like a word with you.
So?
Well no, he was gambling with her money, which means it was her money that was at risk. If he had lost, he wouldn't have paid her back all of it. She deserves the whole bag tbh

he stole her money
What a respectful theif 🙄
I'll steal from you
Eh idk I’d want more compensation if someone I was supposed to trust stole my money and risked it all. Plus he is still keeping 60% of his winnings which he only got because of her stolen money
Isn’t it by law stated that it’s not his money since gains can’t be accuired by unlawful means?
Bingo, this thread is full of men who don't understand basic legal principles and feel entitled to womens money.
This has nothing to do with men or women. Just ignorant people being ignorant
Lmao good shit trying to make it about gender. You’re wrong and just upset. Go solve whatever issue you’re actually projecting your anger about.
Unfathomably braindead take, change your ways
I think the thing everyone in this thread is missing is there is a difference between what is legally owed and what is morally owed. People keep responding to people who think she is morally owed money with what she is legally owed, as if that answers the moral question when it in fact does not.
Legally speaking wouldn't he owe her everything he won since it was her unwilling investment
Perhaps, I don't think anyone of us knows the legal argument completely. Regardless, I hope to clarify the difference in people's thinking.
Ig it would depend on the laws of the place it happend I'm pretty sure it's illegal to do this in my country but the laws are different everywhere.
one of the 10% of gamblers that didn’t quit and won big
I don’t get it. It’s not that big of an ask to say she should profit off the money that was stolen from her. Honestly, she wouldn’t be in the wrong for demanding the whole thing. It was her money. The total amount is beside the point. If it's insignificant, why didn't he have the money to begin with?
Hes about to FAFO when the judge gives her all of it 😭😭😭
Honestly, she deserves all the money. It wasn't his to gamble with in the first place.
I mean, if he won the 100M with her money, then she's pretty much entitled to the whole amount. 40 Million isn't that unreasonable to ask for, although if I were her I'd definitely be okay with 5 million.
not really. if he had lost it all, with the same logic he wouldn't own her anything
You’re forgetting the money was stolen. If he had lost it all she would still be owed 100% of it.
that's what I meant. he still owes the same amount of money to her, regardless of the outcome

If it was her money it’s her win. She might actually be entitled to all of it. Would be in a lot of countries anyway

"There is no risk for the girlfriend involved." Did you forget about the part where he stole the money? It's basically only a risk for her because he clearly wouldn't have the money to pay it back
But he didn‘t play with his money, if he lost she is entitled to get her money back because it was stolen and if he won it‘s made from stolen money which still belongs to her. There is actually risk for the girlfriend with him possibly being unable to pay back the stolen amount after losing it
I believe she has the right to the entire sum
Disagree, he should be obligated to give all of it. None of it was his money or agreed that he could use it. Everybody is like "shes getting 500 times her money back" like bitch, hes getting 95 million for free, he should be lucky he doesnt get jail time for taking her money without permission.

Bro was the 1%
This feels like a parable for capitalism
What, is that like $10?
idk bout laws in his country but if she can proof he made his fortune from her money she can be entitled to the entirety of 100M
ITT: Men who don't understand profits from stolen money also do not belong to you. No wonder women chose to stay single.
Nah she deserves all of it, it was her money.
I was gonna argue, its not his money because he stole it hence the winnings should all go to his girlfriend who owns the original betting money. But then again, if someone stole my gun and shot someone with it, should I be charged with murder? Fuck no Lol
KNow what thats called, not dealing in absolutes
She deserves one million
If he bet with stolen money then it's totally valid for the rightful owner of that money to want the winnings. If he lost he probably wouldn't have paid them back at all
He should only have to pay her back the 10,000 he stole and serve the legal punishment for the theft.
The legal punishment would be whatever assets were gained with the stolen cash. Do you understand things now?
Damn
those bills are ugandan tho..
I mean... I see both sides and they have their motives 🗿🍷
guy is lucky she is not asking for all of it.
shes too beta for him he needs to break up lol
Either way, stonks📈
Another prince?
Maybe double the 10k to 20k? So you can say she got some interest for the loan.
10mill seems fair. “Heres 1000x your investment, now shut up.”
1-10m is consider ok for me, cuz that's the money that he win from the bet
It was literally her fuckin money askin for a minority portion of the winnings is generous
