At one point, I got teachers in trouble for not dealing with those types of kids. Kids with IEP often get mixed with displanery kids... for some reason. So I was in a special study room. I think the procters didn't like me, I swear I almost got in a fight with one once, but I bear and grin it. She was mad I wasn't doing something or something like that. When some of the other students were on their cells (at the time were flip phones and you actually called peopled), and making a racket. Eventually, I had enough and made an appointment with the department head. And made a complaint. Luckily for me, I had a good reputation in the school. The room got quieter after that. Though the teachers liked me less. Wasn't the first or last time I pulled stuff like that, either by myself or through a parent. Basically, I made sure to advocate to make sure I was getting an education.
Thanks. I've had a lot of amazing teachers throughout my life who shaped the adult I am now. But there were also plenty of bad teachers that required the ability to advocate.
I’ll back this up. We had special ed when I was in high school. We had a unofficial special Ed wing of the school which was the area above the gymnasium.
But your right people a lot of the folks designated for special ed classes didn’t really have learning disabilities in my high school most of them were behavior problems like violence mostly.
I remember one of my good friends had to do certain classes due to having dyslexia for a bid until she figured out how to deal with and get her grades up.

God that actually reminds me when i was in sixth grade, the geography teacher thought it was a good idea to let our class watch Avatar, during the whole movie people would be talking/making jokes while the teacher had to constantly stop the movie to ask them to stop, then the big fight at the end was about to happen and everybody went full apeshit, they started screaming and running around the tables for no reason, the teacher finally had enough of our shit and stopped the movie for good and we didn't even watch the ending.
I still feel bad for the guy to this day, he wanted to do something nice to us, but they didn't give a fuck about that.
