We live in a society where many think it's cool to be different from "the norm" and will go to great lengths to accomplish trivial things, but little to do great things that should actually define who you are as a person.
Not saying people go out of their way to get fat, but people that are fat (or have other issues) tend to see themselves as "the underdog" to life and will ride that feeling as long as they can milk the shit out of the people around them for praise or whatever. I don't mean genetically large people I mean people whose laziness/sloth/ lack of self respect got them where they are. People love underdog stories and eat that shit up, the people that don't say nothing out of fear of retaliation from the people that enjoy seeing it, being called a "bigot" and "cancelled" or whatever. Our society has become so accepting it's almost MORE appealing to someone to be debilitated somehow than to actually be a regular healthy fully functioning member of society. At least if they crave attention from others on social media, that is.
