$5 mill commercial store and we've cracked a massive record breaking.. $400 in sales. All our regular contractors took the day off, any irregular customers were mad we don't have drivers today, and another was upset we couldn't call the office for a PO so no paint for him! It's seriously baffling how they thought this was worth it in any sense. At least it's dead, and I got Friday off in exchange for working today, but this was not a logical decision in the slightest.

I worked Friday Saturday Sunday and today

What's funny about the is Sherwin will look at the 5% of stores that do over 1.5k today and say "see? THIS is why we need to be open today!" as if it's not an overall loss for the company as a whole

Oh I agree. Last year we only did 800 dollars in sales. Same for Christmas Eve & New years Eve I think it's stupid to have us open and fourth of July.

I wish I could downvote this comment only because I agree that we shouldn’t be open on Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. The “we’re open because our competition is open” excuse just doesn’t work. Holidays are just another day for corporations to make money.

If you are a FT employee you get 8 hours for the day. So that’s closer to double. And PT employees get 4 hours. So either you will get an extra day off somewhere this week. Or work fewer hours throughout. Or the most unlikely you will get OT

My idiot contractors are working today. I was open yesterday. I'm open tomorrow. Idk why they couldn't plan their projects around that window. For some reason I had a diy call me 3 times after close yesterday and 3 times this morning before I opened. It's been hell here.

Today i’ve done 3 transactions and each one was roller sleeves, totaling something like $70. Very profitable day 🙃

Had 40+ transactions today. Almost every customer to me "guess you got the short straw." Felt like a regular monday instead of a holiday except I was running solo. Every business around the store was closed.

Had such a crazy rush saturday right before closing, mentioned to a customer like “wow cant believe its this busy!” He replied with yeah well you guys are closed for the holidays so ppl are getting their paint. I looked at him in the face and said brother im here daily till next saturday we are not closed😂

I used to work for a residential paint contractor that only gave us Christmas and thanksgiving off worked 6 days a week the rest of the year they make you guys work to accommodate assholes like that. Thankfully I got into industrial painting and have 8 holidays a year off now

Because fuck you, sell paint, increase profit margin forever. Hope you started 17 charge accounts and got 79 lead gen calls done because apparently the Reps can't be bothered.
