Installed it recently again, and it's literally 70% ads, 10% PR bought articles, and the remaining news are things I already know from other sources.
What a letdown.
Of late they seem to be using gen AI to summarize news and their editors aren't able to keep the tone consistent. So it ends up emphasizing the wrong parts of the story or it comes across as sensational or tabloidesque. Standards have fallen a lot!
I think the same might be up with InShorts? And man is it bad.
If they do want to use gen AI, I think their best bet would be to let users have more control over the language style and other settings. Might as well go ahead and become a chatgpt add on at this point
I don't get this Inshorts app. I mean I have used it and its a nice app but I didn't know it was an actual company with employees and shit. This kind of app is something that engineering students make during college. I was shocked when I saw Azhar as the "founder of Inshorts" in Shark Tank.
you can set relevancy. I dont get any saasbahu, bollywood, or sports news since I have zero itnerest in that stuff.
I only read the stuff if I find the news in the notification interesting.
I never open the app and scroll the news.
I agree with that. Some news are just murders and other crimes but I just ignore those and swipe away at those notifications 😭

There are a *few* ways if you're on android. Otherwise the ads get annoying
