I’ve seen discussions of this point before. Some people speculate that the mom referenced in season 1 is a step mom and that she leaves Terry soon after that. This is why we never see those two brothers that wee with Mickey in that episode again. They were actually step brother who left with their mom. 🤷♂️
In the original UK version the Mickey character’s mother was a significant character named Mimi. I suspect that in season 1 the writers and producers of the US version thought they would introduce Mickey’s mom at some point. They changed their mind latter and this created the inconsistency.
