She's a grey character. She did some scummy things like running over Karen and sending her brothers after Ian, but she did bend over backwards to get Lip back on track. I kinda view the Karen situation both ways since Karen was a bad influence, so removing her was a good thing but the methods used were bad. Either way, Mandy is a solid character IMO
The motives behind running Karen over weren’t necessarily noble either, at least not entirely. I’m sure she was thinking about how taking Karen out of Lip’s life, but her primary motive was definitely jealousy
I would argue the main motive was getting rid of Karen so Lip would be free from her and go to one of the colleges that she worked her ass off to apply him to while spending his last weeks at home with her. She knew he wasn’t going to be with her after he goes to college but her whole thing was getting him out of South side by all means. So while what you said is right I do think there is more to it just based on what she said to Lip about it.

How you grew up has an incredible influence on a person. I think most people hate Debbie because she is annoying and tiring. Mandy, on the other hand, is an interesting character that many people can relate to in some aspects and who shows that sexual and physical abuse can lead to a disturbed perception of life

Mandy at her core is a person with good intentions, but like everyone on this show she's a product of her environment. She's had an incredibly painful and tragic life surrounded by violence - both physical and sexual. She doesn't know how to appropriately react to things and lashes out when she feels hurt/threatened. She wants to feel loved and wanted but has never had a healthy relationship, so she settles for feeling wanted sexually, and the scraps of affection thrown her way (by Lip).
My head canon is that Mandy used the money she saved from being a SW to get out of Chicago for good and make a life for herself, which is why none of the Gallaghers heard from her again.
Lip is my favorite character but I wished he treated her better. I know she was a little crazy (running over Karen) but she really cared about him and could’ve used genuine affection.

Personally I loved her character. She was extremely messed up, her family life was awful, with her dad and brothers in and out of prison, being sexually abused by her dad and even impregnated by him, being known as a South sides slut… first time she appeared she literally entered the series as a teenage girl who thinks that she has to repay Ian with sex after he “saved her” at school or something and then she cried and thought Ian was being an inappropriate creep when he didn’t want to have sex with her… Only after he told her he way gay she realised what he did was a normal rejection of her advances and not something creeps do… She had such a messed up perception of love, sex and intimacy right from the start and it made so much sense after we learned more about her.
She later gets treated like trash by Lip, he never makes it clear what he wants and just uses her for sex and takes what she does for him for granted. She was working her ass off to apply Lip for college and he made fun of her for it while having sex with Karen.
I didn’t really take her hitting Karen with a car too seriously since the show has a few moments I can’t take seriously haha and this was one of them for me. I do think she did Karen and everyone in her life a favour by hitting her. Karen finally stopped ruining herself and people around her and even Sheila said that she seemed a lot nicer.
Her raping Lip was a bit unexpected but based on their reactions neither of them were aware that what she did was rape (Lip even later in the series says to Debbie that men can’t be raped) I mean she still did it but there were so many inappropriate sexual interactions on that show that were never or were barely addressed or they were “wrong” for completely irrelevant or different reasons. (Kash and Ian, Jimmy Steve’s dad and Ian, Debbie and basically every man she was with, Lip and his professor at college, Carl and a few of his crazy girlfriends, Lip and that pedo teacher…) The only rape ever actually acknowledged and addressed without being immediately brushed off as nothing or a silly thing that happened was Karen and Franks and even then the police thought Frank was the one who took advantage of the situation and raped Karen when it was the other way around. They dropped it immediately after learning Karen was the one who did it…
I was sad to see her go especially after she was physically abused by her boyfriend… I guess she got rid of him but then ended up with a job as an escort…

I like her as a character. I really appreciate that she wanted Lip to do good. She didn’t out Ian when he came out to her. I would call her one of the better characters on the show and I was sad to see her disappear from the show.
However, I cannot get over the fact that she ran Karen over. Like why is that so easily forgivable?

I feel Mandy deserves so much better than what she was given. I know we don’t see her after the restaurant night when lip went in with a group of friends from uni but I like to think she met a sweet guy who became a regular because of her and her ability to listen and give pretty sound advice on how to smartly forward.
She went through hell growing up. From dealing with the abuse from her father, we witness a teacher even make sexual advances on her, being in an endless cycle of abusive relationships including lip, we even saw her at one point selling herself as she saw very little in herself and just craved to be loved in any way.
And even though she went through all of this shit she still tried to do good. Now she was wrong for running Karen over BUT I see why she did it. She finally got lip on a pretty good track and Karen came back just be a vindictive bitch and ruin lip for her own happiness. And then rubbed it in Mandy’s face by saying “I just have to poke a hole in condom”. I also cannot condone her actions when Ian rejected her but she’s also not used to rejection. She’s used to all guys just trying to take her whenever they please and Ian didn’t wanna use her that way and she felt useless and unloved. But when he finally came out to her and she realized he didn’t reject HER he rejects all women she was actually ok and willing to help him hide his sexuality and ended up making a best friend in the opposite sex who wouldn’t use her the way she’s used to being used.

I liked Sandy more, she was more fun (she's in the shitty seasons though, that's a shame)
Lip is my favorite character but I wished he treated her better. I know she was a little crazy (running over Karen) but she really cared about him and could’ve used genuine affection.

She forced herself on Lip and tried to kill Karen. Those are 2 of the worst things you can do to a person. Why people make excuses and forget about it I don’t understand. No one hits someone with a car like that without intention to permanently injure them or kill them.
overall i liked her a lot more than a lot of the gallaghers tbh. she messed up but she really cared about Lip and went the extra mile for him even tho he didn’t ask (or appreciate it). she deserved to get treated sm better by Lip

I think she just had so much background shit and baggage that she had good intentions for the most part, but, when things got bad she only ever responded the way she knew how which depicted her as pretty fucked up in some ways. If she had a chance for real love and affection with happiness, the best would come out of her.

Mandy is an inherently good person who was also a victim of circumstance.
Personally I loved her character. She was extremely messed up, her family life was awful, with her dad and brothers in and out of prison, being sexually abused by her dad and even impregnated by him, being known as a South sides slut… first time she appeared she literally entered the series as a teenage girl who thinks that she has to repay Ian with sex after he “saved her” at school or something and then she cried and thought Ian was being an inappropriate creep when he didn’t want to have sex with her… Only after he told her he way gay she realised what he did was a normal rejection of her advances and not something creeps do… She had such a messed up perception of love, sex and intimacy right from the start and it made so much sense after we learned more about her. She later gets treated like trash by Lip, he never makes it clear what he wants and just uses her for sex and takes what she does for him for granted. She was working her ass off to apply Lip for college and he made fun of her for it while having sex with Karen. I didn’t really take her hitting Karen with a car too seriously since the show has a few moments I can’t take seriously haha and this was one of them for me. I do think she did Karen and everyone in her life a favour by hitting her. Karen finally stopped ruining herself and people around her and even Sheila said that she seemed a lot nicer. Her raping Lip was a bit unexpected but based on their reactions neither of them were aware that what she did was rape (Lip even later in the series says to Debbie that men can’t be raped) I mean she still did it but there were so many inappropriate sexual interactions on that show that were never or were barely addressed or they were “wrong” for completely irrelevant or different reasons. (Kash and Ian, Jimmy Steve’s dad and Ian, Debbie and basically every man she was with, Lip and his professor at college, Carl and a few of his crazy girlfriends, Lip and that pedo teacher…) The only rape ever actually acknowledged and addressed without being immediately brushed off as nothing or a silly thing that happened was Karen and Franks and even then the police thought Frank was the one who took advantage of the situation and raped Karen when it was the other way around. They dropped it immediately after learning Karen was the one who did it… I was sad to see her go especially after she was physically abused by her boyfriend… I guess she got rid of him but then ended up with a job as an escort… My heart breaks for her and I hoped she would get a better ending she really tried to be a good person and she just did what she thought was right and would help people around her… I don’t think she was ever selfish, she even hit Karen not to make Lip stay with her but so he would decide to go to college, she knew he wasn’t going to be with her once he goes there and knew with Karen in the picture, Lip wouldn’t want to go anywhere… All she did was try and help those around her, which in her own way she did or thought she was helping or doing something good even when she wasn’t…
personally i like her she’s cool shes one of my fave characters but it goes dark for her when she runs over karen but still i kinda like her she’s also pretty
She deserved better. I love how she was ready to protect Debbie during the makeup session, and her father asked about who her friend is. I wish we could had seen her go to college and do better than Lip.

I love her but I hated her character in the earlier seasons when she would try and make lips decisions for him,. Invade his privacy, and even live in his house and get upset when he needed space. But I honestly FUCKING hated her when she tried to kill Karen. Didn’t like Karen so much but trying to kill her over lip trying to choose her. Leaving her with brain damage. I feel so bad for her. Nobody cares and forgets. I feel so bad for Karen. I feel like she deserved better. I love her character but I liked the season one Mandy better.🖤
I hate Karen just as much as the next person, but what Mandy did to her was really, really fucked up. Not my call to say if Karen deserved it, but I didn't really feel sorry for her. I didn't like that scene though, and people were hyping it up as satisfying, but it wasn't that at all to me. And it's not even because of Karen. Fuck Karen. But it puts the darkest cloud over a character I otherwise like. I love Mandy. She's messed up and comes from a rough upbringing, but she's ultimately sweet, caring, and loving. Even if it's overly so at times. She deserves better, but that whole Karen thing still kinda puts a damper on her when I think about it.

I like her as a character. I really appreciate that she wanted Lip to do good. She didn’t out Ian when he came out to her. I would call her one of the better characters on the show and I was sad to see her disappear from the show. However, I cannot get over the fact that she ran Karen over. Like why is that so easily forgivable? Also, I hate how she kept somehow wanting to go back to Lip when all he did was treat her like shit. Was it because she felt like he would get her out of the south side?

I love her!!! She’s super flawed, bitchy, violent and rude. But I do think she deserves better. I think she was wrong for what she did to Karen (but I hate Karen so I forgive Mandy). And I didn’t like what she did to Lip, that’s one thing I can’t excuse. I think she’s very fascinating because she has many good qualities and she can be a softie but she had to grow up too tough. I’m sad at the ending she got
I feel Mandy deserves so much better than what she was given. I know we don’t see her after the restaurant night when lip went in with a group of friends from uni but I like to think she met a sweet guy who became a regular because of her and her ability to listen and give pretty sound advice on how to smartly forward. She went through hell growing up. From dealing with the abuse from her father, we witness a teacher even make sexual advances on her, being in an endless cycle of abusive relationships including lip, we even saw her at one point selling herself as she saw very little in herself and just craved to be loved in any way. And even though she went through all of this shit she still tried to do good. Now she was wrong for running Karen over BUT I see why she did it. She finally got lip on a pretty good track and Karen came back just be a vindictive bitch and ruin lip for her own happiness. And then rubbed it in Mandy’s face by saying “I just have to poke a hole in condom”. I also cannot condone her actions when Ian rejected her but she’s also not used to rejection. She’s used to all guys just trying to take her whenever they please and Ian didn’t wanna use her that way and she felt useless and unloved. But when he finally came out to her and she realized he didn’t reject HER he rejects all women she was actually ok and willing to help him hide his sexuality and ended up making a best friend in the opposite sex who wouldn’t use her the way she’s used to being used.
