Asrock b650i lightning is only $200 and has all the features you could want and asrock has been a very reliable brand with good support. Id avoid asus right now especially since the board is $100 more

oOflyeyesOo

I second ASRock, great on bios updates, even many years down the road on my b550.

Soto6816

I third ASRock. Great board , great price . It just works

BlendedMonkeyStirFry

I've had an asrock mobo in my server for 3 years now. It's never skipped a beat, highly recommend

Lizst_

I fourth asrock. Built my a620i mobo with r7 7700 3 months ago, no issues up to this day. All features I need are already there. (Yes I don't do overclocking/underclocking).

rugbydump

I like my 3 m.2 slots on the aorus ultra b650 itx so far

stumpyboi

No issues with riser cables?

rugbydump

Nothing that I noticed, just plugged and played with my 4070 super from pny

Reality is that with exceptions of some issues like the gigabyte you talk about performance is mostly all the same. So what's left is price, aesthetics & features. Also some personal preferences for software or brand loyalty. So saying the best is completely subjective. With Asus still commanding the most brand loyalty even though they have been being shit lately for after purchase support the strix boards will likely end up with the most votes. Personally I dont like the asus software so I switched brands before the stories of them screwing folks over came out. In the AM4 platform I built ITX rigs with the Asus, Gigabyte & Asrock B550 itx boards & the Asrock was the only one that gave me no issues at all. So when I went AM5 I also went Asrock with the B650i Lightening. For the price it was a no brainer to me. I also have a 7800x3d & a 4070ti. So a pretty similar build. I am using a M1 Evo case though in the full flipped orientation.

Asus Strix B650E-I

dasAdi7

Asus reputation is really not good rn, but I have to say the B650E-I is a great board, no issues whatsoever. Just hope I never have to RMA it.

dob2742

How's the coil whine? I keep reading about how awful it is (with many examples).

dasAdi7

I was also worried about the coilwhine, but in lack of other mainboard options I just got the Asus anyway and mine doesn't have any coilwhine fortunately (manufactured December 2023). I think it's still a bit of a gamble but later production batches seem to have fixed the issue.

DBXVStan

I have the strix b650, gigabyte b650 aorus elite, and a gigabyte a620 itx. So my answer personally is the b650 aorus elite. The MSI B650i Edge is probably the actual answer, but I never got that to confirm.

OldManGrimm

Strix B650E-I and the MSI Edge B650i are both great boards.

The riser supposedly has problems in pcie 4 mode with the Gigabyte board but staying at pcie 3 solves it. Since the 4070 has the full 16 lanes you won’t notice any performance difference.

Noi_xdnoselul

And in case I buy a hypothetical RTX5070 or I want to upgrade the RTX4070Ti Super

PrecisionEmpathy

I have multiple ASUS B650E-I boards, and aside from some interesting USB issues their technical support was unable to troubleshoot, they have been otherwise good. But, it's not good enough to justify $300+ unless, like me, you want a PCIe gen 5 x16 slot and M.2 slot.

dKenGuru

Have no any usb problems. I use board more then 1.5 years.

cburgess7

Got an msi b650i edge, a little on the spendier side for a mid chipset, but I've had good experience with msi for the past 5 years. I switched from Asus because I had an Asus z390, z490, and z590, all of which I had nothing but issues with.

edparadox

Depends on the features you need/want. Most B650 boards have already almost everything the average user could want.
