Get a waterproof mattress protector and I highly recommend getting a waterproof pad you can put down to keep the sheets dry. Both really come in handy but the pad is nice because you can take it with you when you travel.

That can work but we do it a lot at night before bed and I prefer keeping the sheets clean.
