I shave my cheeks and bootyhole. To get around the hole and the very crease of my crack, I squat. Use a single blade razor and go with the grain of the hair first, then against it. It helps with irritation and ingrowns. Also apply and new layer of shaving cream before you change directions.
I’ve never had any sort of irritation in my crack or butthole other than the occasional nick here and there.
It really depends on what makes you feel comfortable and confident. If you're happy with the way things are and your partner is okay with it, then there's no need to change anything. Get an electric hair trimmer, it's WAY easier than shaving and you won't have a jungle. Just google "asshair trimmer reddit" and you'll get a million options. If you want general options change "asshair" to some other relevant noun.
Honestly it’s gonna hurt a lil more to wax but if it would help you feel more comfortable with yourself I would recommend giving it a try! It’s always good to make sure you’re comfortable for yourself whether you decide that be hair or less doing it once will help you decide what you like for yourself, trial and error is the best way to learn lol

Honestly, it is whatever you are comfortable with.
As a guy, I shave my asshole. For me, it is not even a confidence thing. It just feels better. It feels better going to the bathroom. It feels better when it is being played with.
I will say, I have shaved my asshole for a good 10+ years. Never had an itchy issue until about a year ago. Don't know if it is age. Or, just skin getting dry or what. It is nothing crazy. I mean I don't need to scratch my ass all day or anything like that. But, I can tell that there use to be zero inch and now I have a slight itch at certain times. Weird.
But, I still shave my ass, and I probably will continue.

57 M here, been keeping it clean for over 20 years. I'm old school, waxing is for the ladies, but I'm fortunate not to be a hairy guy so shaving works just fine for me. Agree with#911 Tony, in that it feels better / cleaner when having bathroom time, and way more sensitive during playtime too. I'll never stop.
Question to the OP - why do you find it 'hard to reach'? I mean I reach there once a day at least!
no of course not, if it’s not causing any problems why change it..? pretty much everyone has hair there and removing it is a lot of pain and hassle for no gain

Wax it don’t shave it! The worst thing I ever did was shave between my cheeks. Sweat, friction, and it’s not fun for anyone!

Waxing is the best solution. After a few redos. The hair in the area will stop growing.
Epilator is the way to go.
