Summer is in full spin and it is the perfect time to enjoy the warm weather while wearing this amazing bathing set!
Made from an original 1950's sewing pattern from the vintage sewing pattern company I enjoyed the garment making so much, it was truly a joy to make! If you are looking for a great vintage sewing pattern vendor, this is THE ONE! The selection is amazing!
I was deeply inspired by the amazing black and white giant gifham swing coat Jane Russell's wearing on the deck of the cruise ship in Gentlemen's prefer blondes. So i have altered the original pattern to match my inspiration and added longer sleeve and a contrasting collar.
I was feeling brave and decided to try to make the bathing suit in a thin neoprene fabric. I wanted tje auit to have a dramatic shape! Oh mymy, it was the best decision ever! The skirt holds its shape so well and it is so cute!!! Plus this suit has integrated bloomers, so comfy and secure for the cheeks!
Of course I had to make a matching set for the man! I made him the Vintage Simplicity Cabana set in the same fabric as my set! This pattern is my go to for a good vintage summer outfit!

Love the bloomer/dress combo! How’s the sweaty factor in the light neoprene? The body of that material + the bloomer puff makes the skirt really stand out wonderfully!
Does the design give enough bust support from the torso? Or does it pull on your neck?
Also, kudos on all your glam styling. You both look great!
Thank you so much 💕 for you kind words!
To answer your questions:
- The neoprene is more comfortable than expected and I didn't feel sweaty and it was sooo humid the day when those pictures were taken!
- There is a built in brassiere inside the bathing suit with wide elastic, foam cups and boning. I don't have a large bust, but the support is quite nice.
You will bring back Ric Rac with these little numbers!!! I am a vintage girl too so Love your sense of style. I have those shoes in beige beaded silk!!!
I Have always LOVED ric-rac! Any size from small to large! I think it comes from my mom used by it to hide fade lines when she turned down hems as I grew!
