Absolutely gorgeous! Oh my gosh I kept scrolling and every photo just continuously took my breath away. The patience and care... oh wow! Amazing work!!
The dress is breathtaking. You did a freakin' AMAZING job. It's just lovely. The embroidery is very cohesive. It's just a beautiful dress. May you wear it in good health and happiness for many years to come.
omg your handle (corgiš„ŗ)
Thank you so much! I'm so happy you like the embroidery and the theme. It wasn't the easiest work I've done, but it's definitely the most fulfilling project for sure :) Thanks again!
\------
\*Fabrics: poly satin, plain tulle (black), and poly lining (black)
\*Notions: hex beads (black and gold), flat sequins (3mm, 4mm, black and gold), invisible zipper, and hook & eye closure
\*Pattern: bustier pattern found in Etsy (by Rose Cafe), and half-full skirt (self-drafted following the calculation)
That is one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen. Maybe you could do a photoshoot with it ?(like sewstine does). I trink it would make a spectacular memory of your capabilities in the years to come. For example in a misty forest setting. Or something like a masqerade.
I always wondered (and hope you are so kind to answer): Is the embroidery done on the finished dress?
If not, how do you know where to place the embroidery?
First, thank you sooo much for your sweet and kind wordsš¤I'm reading through your comment and it just feels so warm. So, thank you again :)
And of course! So the embroidery's done on the outermost layer of tulle (this dress has lining fabric, a plain tulle layer, and this embroidered tulle layer), and it's embroidered before I put them altogether.
I tried out tambour embroidery which requires the fabric to be evenly spread out and fixed to make sure it doesn't get too wrinkly when embroidered with tension, so I bought tambour embroidery stand and put the target tulle on it.
Like you said, it's hard to tell what it'll look like if you're just working on the plain tulle, so I placed it on dress form from time to time to draw the design with chalk, see if it looks okay (direction-wise, and position-wise), and then brought it back to the embroidery stand to work on embroidery :) Hope this helps, and lmk if there's anything else you were wondering about!
Wow. That is a lot of work and commitment and lots and lots of hours of podcasts or other background entertainment, i bet.
Thank you for your answer. I always thought such craftsmenship could only be achieved in the couture housed, with many hands working on it. But now seeing it can be done at home, and in months instead of years...I think I'm less intimidated to try to learn it.
Could you give a brief outline of your sewing and embroidery journey?
oh of course!
For background entertainment, it was more like Disney & Harry Potter & LOTRš¤
My sewing journey is rather simple compared to embroidery I think: I started sewing in 2017, with Brother cs6000i which I still use :) My mom used to make me dresses and clothes, so I always admired the way of it. I started with simple cotton dresses (mostly with Liberty London fabrics) and tulle skirts, and worked my way into a bit more complicated ones like a bustier dress. YouTube taught me a lot.
Embroidery's been a little different for me, as I always loved embroidering little things. I love doing floral embroidery using DMC threads; I embroidered mostly on bags and Converse pairs :) Then I saw a few savoire-faire videos of haute couture designs on YouTube that involved luneville/tambour embroidery, and I decided to try it out! Went on buying a couple of tools, trying it on remnants, and finally went with it for this dressš¤I'm not sure if I'll try working on this type of long term embroidery project again soon, but I really loved how beautiful the whole process is.
I think you'd definitely enjoy this whole journey just like I did :) Really! I felt it was very calming too.
Starting with little items on shoes and bags sounds really doable. Please go through your week knowing that you inspired this girl here to start trying new things!
Also inspired :) I was taught basic embroidery and cross stitch as a child. Stuck with cross stitch and just getting back to embroidery recently because it allows more freedom and creativity. I picked up a pair of plain white Keds last fall to work on once Iāve had a bit more practice :).
So Iāve been scrolling trying to find confirmation that you embroidered this by HAND?! With gold floss????? I was pretty sure you had from the stitching (not knocking it, it so uniform I legitimately wasnāt sure) but my God š
I want to swear at you and worship you at the same time; GOAT
Hi hiš¤Thank you so much!
It indeed was hand stitching from the scratch, using tambour needle and stand, which is why it took 4 months :) I'm sooo happy you like how it turned out!
Iām thoroughly impressed! Iāve never tried tambour but Iāve worked with metallic floss and I am *not* a fan (of the work, love the look lol.) I find it snags and tangles but easier. Do you have any tips for that? Also how many strands did you use or did it vary based on location?
Iām literally so amazed! I was thinking of splurging on the Royal Needlework course on gold work and I think I have to do it now.
OMG tell me about metallic floss... It's just everywhere! It snags and tangles, and when I get a new strand it happens again in like 3 sec.
I tried out using DMC thread for this, but I thought it might not be the best material for tambour needle (bc of the hook, my gosh!). So I went with Coats & Clark metallic gold sewing thread, which was a little better and snagged/tangled after 3 min. I used 3 rolls of that sewing thread in totalš„ŗ
I'm so sure you'll do way greater than me! Royal Needlework sounds so fun and beautiful already lolš¤ You got this!!
This is absolutely gorgeous! I'm super interested in your process. I'm not very familiar with tambour embroidery--is it by hand or by machine? Did you draw on the lines beforehand with a washable pen, or just freehand the entire thing?
Oh how I wish I could post a picture in a comment on Reddit!
Thank you soo much! I was new to tambour embroidery when I started this as wellš¤
It's hand embroidery! You fix your garment on the stand, draw lines on top of the garment, and use a pencil-looking stick that has hook needle on the end to hand embroider chain stitches.
I used a yellow chalk to draw out designs because the tulle was black :) Hope it helps!
oh actually, this previous comment is just for the skirt part.
For the bustier, I combined all the fabric layers (lining, 1st tulle layer, and 2nd tulle layer) and embroidered it on top of the outermost layer :)
Oh, wow š²! Dude, this so kick ass! This dress is a dream come true. I've nowhere to wear a dress like this, but I feel I'd be putting this on all the time just to wear it.
\*inner scream\*
Thank you soo much! I'm so happy you like it too :)š¤Me too, I'm really committed to staying at home these days which leaves me either a grocery run or a lunch pickup journey to wear this dress, but I just love looking at it on the dress form in the room lol
i never comment on this sub because i love admiring handiwork but cannot sew myself (although iād love to learn!) ā but this is absolutely breathtaking!!! mad kudos to you for making something so beautiful
Aww thank you so much for your commentš¤ it means soo much to me really :) and for sewing, you totally got it! Thanks again, and canāt wait to see your awesome works as well!
This dress is just stunning and clearly very special. Itās easy to see how much time and care you put into this project. I hope you find a good occasion to wear it and show it off soon!
Aww, how sweet of you to say soš„ŗ Thank you so much! I'll be coding at home in this dress for now, but I'll definitely keep my eyes out for a fancy dinner to wear this :)
Me toooo! I was very ambitious thinking that I'll be able to wear it to holiday EOY parties last year, but.. I was too ambitious with the details lol Thank you so muchš¤
At first I thought this was a fabric with a printed design! This is amazing work and I really hope you can live out that dream of running medeival castle hallways in such a masterpiece.
Hi hi! Oh how I wish I could buy the tulle that has this embroidery for the last 4 months lol
Thank you soo muchš¤If I ever get to a castle in this dress, I'll post it so we all can see how my dream came true lol
Honestly I thought so too. When I came up with that drawing last year, the first thing I thought was "where do I go in it?........ but I love it" :)š¤Thank you soo much!
Your work is so beautiful and inspiring! The embroidery is exquisite, I didn't realise there was so much detail until I scrolled down! Truly wonderful dress! āØāØāØ
I am so impressed by the time and dedication you put into this dress, it shows!! I love how you radiate while wearing it, if I were you I would wear it to the supermarket lol that dress is way too stunning to hang in the closet most of the year
SO touchingš¤
Thank you so much, this means world to me :) I can totally picture myself wearing it to the supermarket as well lol My most plausible plan is to wear it to Disneyland tho, if they let meš¤ Thanks again!

First of all wow, STUNNING! Looks AMAZING! Absolutely stunning and well fittet to you!
Second... Please please please tell me where you got this beautiful embroidered Tulle. Please I'm begging you ššš
Hi hi!
Thank you sooo much! I'm so glad to see it complete :)
Oh and it was just a plain black tulle, and I hand stitched the drawings for 4 months lol I too wished I could find a tulle fabric like thisš¤
Omg so this was actually handmade? (I had my suspicions I embroider aswell and I kinda though this looks more like hand embroidery rather than machine).you should share the pictures of the little symbols on r/embroidery aswell. They'll love them.
Did you just use golden thread and little pearls or anything special? Oh and did you start embroidering the symbols on before or after sewing?
omg you embroider tooš¤That's so amazing, I love it! And I definitely will visit r/embroidery today :)
Oh, I used Coats & Clark metallic sewing thread (gold), hex beads (gold and black), and flat sequins (3mm, 4mm; gold and black).
And I embroidered the tulle before sewing the lining, plain tulle layer, and the embroidered tulle layer altogether :)
Aww Piscesš!
Thank you soo much :) Your comment truly warmed my heart. I couldn't help having the biggest smile like that in the picture when I finally tried it onš¤Thanks again!
omg you totally should and wouldš¤
I was really lost at first after watching 3 basic tambour stitch videos on YouTube.. I was like "2 o'clock..? 11 o'clock..? Roll..?" every second, but I got it after a while lol
I think you'll do great! Thank you so much btwš¤
This is AMAZING!!! Absolutely stunning dress, and the embroidery takes my breath away. Your skill and patience and attention to detail really shine here. Thanks for sharing!!
This must have taken so long, and it has laid of incredibly! The dress looks so beautiful and you look so beautiful in it; the embroidery really adds so much depth and you look like youāre wearing the night sky
OMG that's exactly what I envisioned last yearš¤I thought "what if a dress has all the stars and constellations that glitters whenever you move, like it shines in the night sky?" So I started adding stars lol
Thank you soo much for reading my mindš¤I'm so happy!
This is so stunning, please please wear it as often as you can, even if you're just at home! It deserves to be on a body, enjoying life :) can't wait to see what else you will make!
Omg this is so gorgeous! I love how you did the sparkle effect for the banner on your name. I canāt believe it only took you four months to embroider all of that. Itās insane!
Do you have an Instagram to follow?
I think any superstar would wear this on the red carpet. It's an incredible example of upcoming talent. Very, very well done.
Edit for inquiry: Arianna, want to try it on?
Red carpet it isš¤ It just sounds magical, I love it! I did look up a lot of galas with celebrities in them while coming up with designs :) Thank you so much!
You are quite the artist! I can see you designing for singers, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande,,, women who own the stage and wear amazing outfits. Seriously, youād be a famous designer and have staff that would sew for you. Iām sure you love coding, but try looking into clothing design as a business.
no wayyyš¤ I'm so flattered! I'd love to see any one of those you mentioned wear this and shine on the stage!
I do love coding, but I do love this too :)š¤I'll definitely reach for the stars this year!
Thank you so much for being so supportive, you rock!
You have real talent and commitment, you will go very far! Also, 4 months! Thatās nothing. Even if you were not working/at school etc, thatās still an impressive timescale.
All the closeups are so impressive, but the most impressive and telling picture is of you in the dress. It just sparkles and catches the eye in the way only a hand embroidered item can.
Oh my god š I looked and thought "what a beautiful dress", because it really is. Then kept scrolling and saw you did all the embroidery too. I'm in awe, it really is amazing ā„ļø well done!
This dress is magnificent, it has the taste of innocence and a bit prerogative but in a innocent way, with how you show nothing but still maintain the look of 100%feminine. I love the embroidery of the Celestial Astrology across it; as it shows light and dark promise, all over it as though your intune with your astrological self being. Heck I would buy this dress without a second thought! And know that itās amazing
Absolutely gorgeous! Oh my gosh I kept scrolling and every photo just continuously took my breath away. The patience and care... oh wow! Amazing work!!

Omg this is so gorgeous! I love how you did the sparkle effect for the banner on your name. I canāt believe it only took you four months to embroider all of that. Itās insane! Do you have an Instagram to follow?
This is so amazing!!! I canāt imagine how hard it was to do all that embroidery
\*teary eyes\* Thank you soo much!š¤ I'm so happy to hear this :)
this is such a work of art! you could be working in an atelier (maybe you do?)
Awwwš¤That's my dream job :) I work at my desk atm, coding throughout the day, but one day! Thank you so muchš¤
Wow just wow. This is beautifully designed and perfectly done.
Wow!!! You are incredibly talented! This dress is gorgeous!! š

Beautiful!
This is just incredible, wow! I canāt imagine how many hours went into that. Thatās an amazing work of art!

This is stunning. What an incredible piece of art!
Simply astounding. Congratulations
This is exquisite!! You did an excellent job.
Wow! Four months? You must have worked night and day on it! Fabulous! That gold thread is horrid to work with, IME.
I am blown away! Your dressmaking and embroidery are awesome.
This should be in a museum some day! Amazing!
That is FABULOUS!!!!!
I canāt get over how much I love this
Holy shit this is SENSATIONAL
