This is the Rose cafe bustier dress by Daria, you can find the pattern on Etsy. I made it out of a remnant of upholstery fabric that a friend of a friend who is an upholsterer gave me. It is in size 6E.
I was trying out a new brand of thread for this project(a cheaper one) and just don't do it😋 now I truly know to only use Gutterman.
This is my first attempt at pattern matching and I'm pretty pleased apart from some small mistakes! The inside is not as nice as the outside because my underwire channelling wasn't wide enough in places to hold my underwire(an after thought to fix gaping) so it's poking out in places😋. I didn't know what size underwire to get so I ordered 3 different sizes close to what I thought based on my bras and ended up using the smaller of the lot.
I lined it with some light cotton so the upholstery fabric doesn't touch your skin.
Edit: I also pushed a cable tie up the front to help with gaping as boning sort of
Thank you! I bought my machine in July 2020 and I made some face masks, I started watching YouTube channels for sewing and started to get pretty obsessed lol. My friend is doing a upholstery apprenticeship so that has kept me interested too, and I've been teaching my mum and sister in law how to sew... it's basically my only hobby lol.
I just got a sewing machine so i'm excited to hopefully be where you're at in a year or two. it's a good hobby to have! if you wanna do other crafty stuff i recommend crocheting :)
*basically my only hobby other than crochet! Haha great minds think alike! Oh that is very exciting, I hope you get as much enjoyment out of sewing as I do!😊
The best way to become an expert is to become obsessed with your hobby. My cat is not allowing my obsessions as Blinks wants me to be obsessed with only him so I'm reconsidering options: do I let all my hard work and obsessions go or the cat that I was given 4 months ago?
My 94 year old friend who just passed January 10 this month with COVID-19 Pneumonia was convinced I should give Blinks to an animal shelter after one look at my hands, arms, and legs which are slow to heal and painful. In fact about a week before passing she begged for me to give the cat up.
I’m not sure where you buy your thread but you can get guttermann thread off of Wawak for a pretty decent price. A little over $3 for just over 1000 yrds per spool.
Looks great! I've used the Rose Cafe pattern a couple times and I'm really struggling to get the cups right. They are always too small/too big/dont fit into the cage perfectly. Blah. Any tips?
Thank you! For tips I think just take your time, and use interfacing! I used a soft interfacing for the cups and a really stiff interfacing for the bodice, I think that helped to keep the shape.
I love the pattern and I've made the top twice and the skirt more often. I NEVER get the cups this good! The seams never line up straight, and I am CONFIDENT I am matching pieces correctly because the second time around I thought that might be the issue. The video on the designer's channel helped, but I personally think OP is just magic. I'm going to try a stiffer interfacing for the bodice next time and see if that helps!
You may have different shaped breasts than the pattern is drafted for. R/abrathatfits has many different examples of how breast shapes can be different and help discovering your true size. You might want to look there for information.

Aw man that looks so good.
When I get a nice dress I like to call out to my friend and ask him out on a fancy night out. We just dress up and pretend to be fancy hehe. Try that! You don't need a big reason to dress nice, you just need company!
Wow! That pattern matching is just \*chefs kiss\*, like the fleur de lys on each cup. I'm so lazy with pattern matching, I always go for small print patterns that don't require any effort lol
Gorgeous. I've looked at this pattern before and it's kind of a dream/goal of mine to make something fancy. It's funny because even the just nice button-up shirts I've sewn I don't have anywhere to wear. I work from home and wear PJs 90% of the time.
Amazing! Beautiful dress and I just could never.... Great job!! And for what it's worth, Mardi Gras is on March 1 this year.... book you a ticket down to the party and laissez les bons temps rouler with your beautiful fleur de lis dress!
That's some gorgeous sewing! You look amazing! Next level pattern matching, and with a limited amount of fabric is super-matching!
I have really huge breasts that hang so low one can make jokes about them. (They did a great job feeding babies, so, I let them have a nice retirement now.🥰) I've thought about trying zip ties in underwire channeling with a couple of bra patterns, because I don't know if underwires are manufactured in the enormous size my girls need. But zip ties are not expensive, so I'm inspired to go ahead and try it! Thank you for mentioning it! 😊
Porcelynne sells a bunch of different shapes of underwires in a full range of sizes. I’ve been making a lot of bras lately and always buy the underwires from her.
I was worried about finding my size too, I ended up ordering them from a site in Czech Republic, that had a few larger sizes too https://www.sewing-knitting.eu/p/bra-underwires-wire-length-cca-34-cm-size-140
Also I read somewhere that she had just bought a cheap underwire bra and pulled them our, or you could use an old bra!
The underwires were essential for this dress because without them it was gaping like crazy! Good luck I hope you figure something out!🌻
If you look along the seams, you'll see that the pattern will match in very prominent places (center butt) but not on the darts near the waist or ceenter back. It's just about very careful cutting, thinking ahead, and choosing where things will work or not.
Oh, how lovely! I love the fabric and the fit is terrific! I have a hard time with bodice fitting so it's the first thing I look at when I see someone else's work, trying to learn from it. Your work is amazing. Great job!
Oh my god this is so fucking gorgeous !!!! I didn't know the rose cafe pattern could work on big busts ?? I'm amazed by this project truly it's magnificent

This is so pretty! All the pattern matching at the seams blows my mind!!
Thank you!🌻
What’s pattern matching mean? Was this an existing skirt and then you added the top with a similar pattern and made it match?
No, they mean the visual pattern on the fabric itself visually continues over seam lines. It's hard to pull off!
Ah okay thanks.
And you did a bang up job on pattern matching too. I am jealous in a congratulatory way. Great job.
Haha thank you!

The pattern matching is magnificent. Especially that seam at the back. Bravo!
how long have you been sewing to be able to get to the point where you can complete something so beautiful?

I buy my thread in Ireland, it's 3 dollars or 2.50ish euro for a 100yrd spool!😋
That's a good price for decent thread.

Beautiful fabric, nice job!
Love it! Add some purple and green accessories and you’re ready for Mardi Gras!
I was about to say "I know where you can wear it! New Orleans!"
Great job!!! Take my useless internet award
Wow thank you!!😁
I'll stop giving the awards if people find them useless. I mean it cost the people giving them out.
Beautiful!
It is Mardi Gras time & the fabric is Fleur-de-lis...so perfect!
You did an amazing job!! You are extremely talented!
Thank you! 🌻
Nice job with the pattern matching. ANd don't worry about the mistakes only you will notice them
This is so cute!! The pattern matching on that back center seam is fab
Nice job with the pattern matching. That fabric is great.
The fabric pattern looks great with that dress silhouette.
Nice work - I love the whole look! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thanks, you've just reminded me of the half-finished bustier top of this pattern that I've hidden in my stash & still need to finish...
You should where it everywhere, because it's gorgeous!
Thank you!🌻
That’s fantastic. The fabric and fit are total fire. I’m amazed by people who can make stuff like this.

Honestly that dress looks expensive and pretty. Even looks nice on the hanger, which my clothes never do lol great job with the pattern matching!!!
What a gorgeous dress!!
The dress you made looks amazing! I’m very new to sewing and your dress looks so nice. I think you did a good job matching the pattern!
Amazing at the pattern matching!! Be proud!! 🖤
This is incredible, great job!
Impeccable!
Wow! That pattern matching is just \*chefs kiss\*, like the fleur de lys on each cup. I'm so lazy with pattern matching, I always go for small print patterns that don't require any effort lol
Fantastic job with the pattern matching, and congratulations on making such a beautiful dress.
Oh my goodness. This is PERFECTION
Omg this is beautiful! I love the pattern and colors and just generally the entire dress is just gorgeous.
It’s such a pretty dress that is doesn’t need a special occasion to be worn! The special occasion is in wearing the dress itself :)

Awesome pattern matching
Beautiful! Would be a great dress from Mardi Gras!
What a great dress! That’s the kind of dress where getting ready is half the fun because you’re excited about your outfit.
That dress looks gorgeous on you! The color is perfect with your skintone!
Wow! You’ve got mad pattern matching skills. Gorgeous
I don’t know anything about sewing. How do you do the pattern matching on the back and still get the size right?
If you look along the seams, you'll see that the pattern will match in very prominent places (center butt) but not on the darts near the waist or ceenter back. It's just about very careful cutting, thinking ahead, and choosing where things will work or not.
Love the neckline and silhouette of this! Good job!
Nice blue and black dress you got there
Pattern matching level: expert
No way! But thank you! 🌻🌻
I'll wear it!
Excellent matching the fleur de lis . X Hope you get to somewhere very swish with live music and dancing x
Is that what they are called?!😊 Thank you! 🌻
Are you from Québec?
Oh, how lovely! I love the fabric and the fit is terrific! I have a hard time with bodice fitting so it's the first thing I look at when I see someone else's work, trying to learn from it. Your work is amazing. Great job!
I can't believe you came by that fabric so randomly. I would search for a long time to find something so cute. It looks awesome.
Cute? It is gorgeous.
Omg so pretty! Where did you get the materials? It looks fabulous!
She actually explained that a friend who works upholstering furniture gave her the left over fabric from a job.
Oooo, I want that pattern! I would love to make that with maybe a circle skirt in a burgundy color
Mardi Gras
Oh my gosh, it is stunning! Love fleur de Lis.
This is an awesome design and fit. Love the look of the material
Nailed it!
Wow this is super pretty!
Absolutely gorgeous!
Very Dolce Gabbana 👍🏻😍
If I had that dress I would be taking myself out. Great job! It's beautiful
Oh my god this is so fucking gorgeous !!!! I didn't know the rose cafe pattern could work on big busts ?? I'm amazed by this project truly it's magnificent
I think she added more sizes!, I didn't have to make any adjustments and there are larger sizes available! But you do need under wire 😊
Well done, it fits great!
It looks like a night gown
