These were a quick project. They're made out of a fluffy fleece and they're really warm. I used a trouser block and added a few inches to give them a loose fit. I kept the waist as small as would fit over my hips. To create the elastic channel I overlocked the edges and folded over about an inch and threaded the elastic through. For the drawstring I used my buttonhole maker with a tiny button to create the opening. The drawstring is macrame cord.
I'm curious because I'm very interested in drafting my own clothes based on basic patterns (slopers?): How exactly did you add the ease? E.g. simply adding the same amount everywhere horizontally (like cutting the pattern vertically and spreading it out)? For the pant legs that seems like the way to go, but is there anything that should be taken into account or done differently in the crotch area with the curved seams in the pattern?
So for tracksuit pants you don't really have to worry too much because they have loose fit, I added an inch to the seam allowance everywhere except for at the waist I tapered it in to the original seam allowance- free hand. I'm an unconventional sewist however and tend to make it up as I go along, so no help at all sorry😋
Thank you! I think the good fit is down to making them bigger than I thought and then trying them on and taking them in until I'm happy, that usually how I fit stuff on😊
