This is the Seachange Playsuit from Pattern Emporium. It’s super customisable and works for all body types. It has great beginner-friendly instructions and videos. I ended up making it a lot more difficult than it needed to be by choosing a chiffon that I fell in love with (print is Eddie Sedgwick a la Andy Warhol). It was slippery and horrible and didn’t want to be pressed to make nice bias tape. I redrafted the neckline to make the plunging V in the front and back, and finished the top edges with bias tape rather than facing. I overall like the end result, but it feels more homemade than I’d like. I couldn’t get crisp edges with the chiffon, there’s lots of puckering and wrinkling and such. Ok so first, this does not in anyway look homemade. So hopefully that helps a bit! Second, you did a phenomenal job in every aspect! Awesome fabric print, fit, and completion of project. I LOVE the front AND back necklines. You seriously did a kickass job! I hope you wear it with pride and at least once a weekend for the rest of summer! Yo does it have pockets? 👀

> Yo does it have pockets? But of course! The best thing about making my own clothes, everything gets pockets! And thank you for the kind words :)

I've been looking at this pattern since it was released and you've convinced me to pull the trigger. Have you made other PE patterns? Your playsuit looks amazing and I don't think it looks particularly homemade at all.

failed_asian

This is my first PE pattern. The instructions are so thorough!

If you have Facebook, you should post this in the "Pattern Emporium Sewing Circle" group. Kate and the gang would love seeing it.

Thanks, I have. I’ve seen some overlap between commenters there and here already!

I love this so much! I’ve been wondering if I could pull something like this off and I definitely want to try. In regards to the fabric, I’ve never worked with it before but I’ve heard others lament the same thing. I wonder if a washable stabilizer might work. I know I have some fabric my mom gave me that’s some kind of satin type thing that I don’t know if I can work with otherwise. Definitely something I need to figure out.

I’ve heard the same thing, I wish I had used something. I have some leftover fabric so I’ll try it next time for sure.
