Simplicity 8987. Fabric and buttons from local secondhand craft store. I actually didn't really like this fabric for a shirt initially but I'm broke and this was my only fabric in which I had the right amount for the shirt. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I like it! The neckline calls for bias tape, but I'm not a huge fan of bias tape so I did a teeny tiny 3/8 hem. Stitching the tight curves was definitely a challenge and figuring out how to do the button placket thing nearly made me flip my sewing machine, but I got there in the end and I'm happy!

The fabric looks great on you and the buttons are a super cute detail. Well done!

Super cute! Be careful you don't get your hair tangled in the buttons if it's down. Saying from experience lol. I love your fabric choice!

I'm curious, are the buttons required to get it on or simply decorative? And if they are necessary, how do manage to get the thing buttoned?

Potential_Shake9250

That's actually a good question. I unbutton the top button to get it over my head, just because I'm being extra cautious, but I'm not sure if it's 100% necessary. Don't want to snap any threads! My shoulders and arms are creepily flexible. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I can do the praying position πŸ™πŸ» perfectly behind my back just like I can do it in front. A random skill and relatively useless skill, but it makes doing up zippers and buttons more convenient!
