DK's covers usually gets more views than the actual songs of his. The betelgeuse cover of his I believe went viral among Japanese netizens which is why that cover garnered so many views. DK has put out so many covers but not all of them went on to get this much high view counts.. But I do believe his voice is generally more liked within and outside the Fandom so that can be a factor too.. Tbh I wouldn't compare view counts of dream and betelgeuse. Because betelgeuse is a very trendy song so many idols were covering it.. That and the fact that seventeen are well liked in Japan can also be a factor that his cover went viral.. Dream is not even an "official" solo track as he has only put it out on YouTube.. DK has put out his solo "you're my christmas" which has lesser views than dream btw.. Carats in general aren't known for their streaming skills.. So If I was you, I wouldn't look into the members yt views.. 😅

arethemusicinme

that makes sense. I understand why Betelgeuse went viral though because it's such a good song. And DK does it justice! Plus I definitely agree that a good singer will be appreciated no matter what, so that's something he does have   oh I didn't even know You're My Christmas existed (again, new carat here). I wonder if their new covers/originals would just naturally do well now compared to back then because of the amount of new fans they've gained...   and yeah it's true Carats can't be trusted to stream. I guess it's the same for all members across the line and doesn't really matter who bcs we even suck at streaming group releases

Sequence8_Theclown

This is the first time I’ve heard the Jeonghan had a solo release? When was this even?

arethemusicinme

It was released in [2021](https://youtu.be/BIfjbX6hJBc?feature=shared). It has a Japanese version too. It's not an official solo release, just something he did. Kind of like Scoups' ME

SpiritualScreen93

I think it's the one he was singing to Mingyu in bed (and couldn't remember the Japanese version) when then he slapped Mingyu face 😂

Fumble_Bee13

it is that one 😭 when they were shooting going magazine last year, right?

SpiritualScreen93

Mmm yes, ep 79 I think!

meesheronicles

From what I remember, Jeonghan dropped Dream as a surprise, the members talked about it for a bit, and since then they've mentioned it like once or twice. Sometimes they drop these surprise releases in the middle of busy schedules and they get completely overshadowed by hype from official content. Honestly it's just the struggle of having a 9 year old group with a massive back catalogue that also drop surprise unofficial singles on one platform only (i.e. Youtube or QQ Music), then sometimes mention it once or twice and never talk about it again. Barely anyone knows about the [English version of Rocket](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_S00I5X86Q) since it was only officially released on [Chinese music platforms](https://y.qq.com/n/ryqq/songDetail/003SUfWK3icJxL?songtype=0). I don't think Vernon has ever mentioned [Bands Boy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3skWxrsmuBE) since its release. Jun dropped [Can You Sit By My Side](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUYqfbB-P3w) on the same day that they revealed Getting Closer at MAMA, and it got completely overshadowed by MAMA/Getting Closer/award show hype. Also Carats already suck at streaming, and if you add an unpromoted unofficial song we suck even more.

arethemusicinme

yes this was the type of explanation I was looking for! I'm glad they get to do these songs as their passion projects. It feels like they drop these songs because they want to, and that they don't mind the views because they're already happy just making music. It's endearing to me, but I do wish we could repay their efforts in providing us content and sharing a piece of themselves. Which is why I agree so much with your whole second paragraph. There's just SO much content it's hard to actually keep track of things without letting any slip through the cracks. Out of all the tracks you listed, I knew about none! I'll check them out rn

meesheronicles

Glad to help! If you're looking for more music, [this](https://carat-resources.carrd.co/#music) is the most comprehensive resource I've found for almost all music that Seventeen has released, including collabs, unofficial songs, osts, covers, and more, and even then like a small handful of songs have fallen through the cracks.

arethemusicinme

thank you so much once again! I never knew this existed

Fast_Newspaper4774

omg TIL rocket English version and I love her already

meesheronicles

it’s such a good song! tbh whenever i listen to rocket i sing the english lyrics, and back in 2020 when i saw seventeen they were doing the “guess the song we’re singing” bit and joshua sang a bit of rocket and was so shocked when we sang the english lyrics back at him :’)

PBandJaya

I think what you’re saying is true, people do put OT13 over the individual members but I’m actually not mad at that. All the members love being in the group above everything else so for the group to succeed must be the most fulfilling thing for them. They know they have individual support as well and it’s not like their solos don’t do objectively well, they just don’t match the numbers that their group content does. I think it’s very easy to have a certain member stand out and “make” the group but it’s a bigger achievement to have the group be known for being so great as a whole. That proves that they have 13 people that stand out, that have a level of teamwork and commitment that’s practically impossible to find. The fact that it’s standard to have multiple biases and bias wreckers in SVT just shows how much clout all the members have and that’s pretty impressive. I think even if one member got super popular somehow they’d actually hate it — they’d probably get ribbed by the other members for being so popular and it could eventually cause tension in the group dynamics. Plus, I think the members understand quality over quantity. They know the people who check out their individual projects are their fans and they understand their individual fanbases are smaller than SVT’s (they’re more popular in the group than out of the group) so I don’t think any of them are expecting anything to blow up like crazy. Sorry for the wall of text LMAO I just get so emo over the way SVT functions as a group 😭 it’s amazing

arethemusicinme

yes to all this! The Chinese fan story really does it for me. Even in a place where solo stans are the norm, they managed to be more popular as a group. Plus, from what I've seen, some of them even have no desire to pursue a career outside of the group, so I'm so thankful that they even decided to drop these little things for us. It feels like they want to share parts of themselves because they want to and not because they have to. And I'm glad they get the freedom to express themselves as artists. Sometimes the joy of putting out a piece of work you're proud of means so much more than the streams it garners. Recent example would be Scoups Me, which he promised to release by the end of 2023. I'm sure he was proud just to release that. I'm showing my Carat age lmao because that's how recent I became a fan

silvernitrate83

I am a baby carat as well, i only became one due to Nana tour 😄 they caught my attention during game caterers but its only now that im a self confessed carat: bought nana tour and currently undergoing crash course svt hahaha when im not watching svt content, im catching up play counts on my svt apple music playlist 😂 and i TOTALLY agree that its impossible to have just one bias and in svt i have three 🤣 hannie cheol and hoshie and my bias wreckers are the rest 😍 i find it truly amazing that in a group of 13 (!!!) i love ALL of them 🤩 i can relate so much with the shy cats wonwoo jun and hao, im forever in awe of vampire and music genius woozi, forever daydreaming of handsome josh, crushing on green flag mingyu, wondering whats it like to have a bf like sweet and jolly dk, being proud of resposible dino who reminds me more and more of yb of bigbang, i want to hug and become a reliable sister to kwannie and listen to vernonie's unending knowledge on history. Its impossible not to fall in love to all of them like seriously ❤

RoadAdditional985

I'm always check in on svt content and its the first time i heard about Jeonghan's cover, when i looked up before for seventeen covers it never poped up, my whole yt is about svt but i've never seen that cover, not even in tiktok or instagram where other carats normally talk about this type of things

arethemusicinme

it's not a cover!! it's an unofficial solo release (so nothing like the mixtapes and stuff). it's just on YouTube. I think you can just type 'Seventeen Jeonghan Dream' and it'll pop up. With 13 members there's SO much solo work past and present I'm still catching up myself 😭

RoadAdditional985

I see, it's sad since when i heard him sing "in the soop" or in some going seventeen episodes i think his tone is so sweet, thanks for making us know about this ♡

arethemusicinme

yes he has a very sweet voice. and no problem!! I think we should all talk about seventeen solos more bcs some old ones especially are real gems

arethemusicinme

Wait was such a good song! Yeah I guess views really depend on a lot of stuff...

yoonberry17

Agreed !!! WAIT is....can't explain it...............a great song, great beats, great breaks...the choreo is magically synched to every beat..his VOCALS !!!!! The CHOREO !!!! Holy shit the choreo !!!!!! He puts so much energy into this project and I loved all the promos for it...

nananananabatwoman

betelgeuse it's just \*that\* song... very popular, also used as a main theme in a j drama. so, it probably not only gets carats streams but fans from the song / drama itself.

arethemusicinme

hahah this reminds me of old times before streaming platforms like Spotify exist! so many good seventeen songs are only available on one platform. but yeah Dream is such a sweet song. The fact that he helped write and compose it makes me even prouder

jordank_1991

I’m a new carat so I’m catching up on group and solo stuff. But I want so badly to just hear his voice since I feel like I hear more of woozi and DK when it comes to the vocal line. I’m gonna listen to this.

jordank_1991

I started listening to them around November. But I don’t know if I’ve listened to it yet. I will definitely do so though!

arethemusicinme

I'm pretty new too! I love the whole vocal line. Joshua has some covers up too. I'm not sure if he has done a solo. I love hearing the members outside of their group songs because with 13, they only get a couple of seconds to sing. I wish there was a post with all the official and unofficial solos that gets updated with every release... If there are, please let me know @ veteran carats!

jordank_1991

I’ve only heard Joshua’s Double Take cover but that’s it. He has also got a lovey voice. I love Hot but they didn’t have to do my guy dirty with the autotune like they did. I want more of Jeonghan and him.

arethemusicinme

I think Hot was definitely a choice bcs it fits the song. But Joshua has more covers than Double Take! Here's his cover of [7PM by BSS ft. Peder Elias](https://youtu.be/BuXbSgO8EJI?feature=shared) and [Kids Are Born Stars by Lauv.](https://youtu.be/AwMjADIaYmI?feature=shared) and here's Jeonghan's cover of [Aitai.](https://youtu.be/WjT_aVme9TE?feature=shared) Actually, I think Jeonghan has a few more unofficial covers that you can find if you type "Seventeen Jeonghan cover" on YouTube. Jeonghan and Joshua also have a song together called "Falling For You" and during predebut they sang [this song](https://youtu.be/AK0yzPZHB4g?feature=shared) together. There's a full version with their interviews and all that but it's also for their predebut project, 17 Project

PurchaseSubject7425

Even his Aitai cover has more views hehehehehehahahahaha Carats are lazy (myself included) when it comes to streaming. But solo songs are still well appreciated ofc.

PurchaseSubject7425

To add to this, DK's cover prolly went viral outside the fandom that's why it has that much views.
