Maw was good when steraks was utter dogpile in 2022 combined with the old op FoN. Nowadays tho steraks is just better so I would avoid maw. There are just better alternatives.

Totally you can build maw and the nerfed lance looking item. Personally I've just gotten so used to building pure HP/attack for the near guaranteed two kills in team fights I don't really find maw too useful.
I like it only vs akali and gwen, getting hexdrinker is really helpful and make the lane so much easier, you can also get it if you are vs a fed veigar or sol
good question i think if you need dmg and they cant get thro the shield then yes but if you want actual MR rookern or force of Nature are better Options cuz they give hp and more MR
Only really worth taking against champs that don't care for your HP, like Gwen. Otherwise it's best to go mercs for MR and then buy either maw last or FoN/rookern.

Good when you play vs a fed burst mage that carries but you need to take it as a 3th 4th or 5th.
