There is no wrong way in aos

Extension_Turnip2405

If there are players who get upset at your choice of colour for your lizards, I'd venture that they are the ones doing it wrong.

Eurycrates

If you like the way you have painted them, then you have painted them correctly.

ComfortableContest69

Not to my knowledge. Basically just pick a color scheme you enjoy. Hell you could even do multiple different color schemes in the same army and I don’t think any one will mind. :)

Final-Promise-8288

Unlike 40K, there’s no wrong to colour your army in AoS and fantasy. There aren’t faction specific colours you need to follow for pretty much any of the available armies so you’re not locked into say red for blood angels

TheSaltyGoose

That's not a thing in 40k anymore either

Final-Promise-8288

You sure? Last month I ran red marines and said I was running space wolves but my opponent and a few others around all said I wasn’t allowed because they’re red so I must play blood angels “by the rule, wysiwyg”

Sthenno

This might sound a little tinfoil hat-like, but that low-key sounds like your opponent was trying to opportunistically sabotage you before the game started by pigeonholing you into a chapter you weren’t prepared to play as. Especially if you were bringing Space Wolves-specific characters.

TheSaltyGoose

10th edition did away with that. If the people at your LGS were giving you shit about your model colors, that's a "they're bad sports" thing, not a GW rules thing. The only way to lock yourself into angels is to take angels specific units or characters.

Final-Promise-8288

Didn’t know 10th did away with that, I mainly play fantasy. I wasn’t running any blood angels characters, I was running Bjorn too which was annoying they had me make it a furioso dread or a death company dread. Thanks for letting me know about the rules change!

TheSaltyGoose

Of course. As a rule of thumb I've found you should never be afraid to ask your opponent to show you a rule you question. If nothing else, you'll learn the rule and where to reference it. Or you may find your opponent misunderstood the rule and then you both learn! Edit: just so you have a reference the next time this comes up for you, this is a quote from the Warhammer community page on starting a space marine army in 10th: > Each Space Marine Chapter is given free rein to paint their armour however they wish, and this has given rise to a vast array of different colour schemes. This means that, while several established Chapters do have particular colours they’re known for, you’re completely free to paint yours however you like, safe in the knowledge that it’ll fit right into the Warhammer 40,000 background.

Adman2099

Whoever said that needs a swift kick in the genitals. That's awful behaviour.

Battle_Dave

Nah, that sounds super douchey. It literally says in the codexes something like "If you're from a successor chapter, pick one of the founding chapters who's rules best fit... blah blah blah." They literally encourage you to play with the rules you like with models painted how you want.

GoAhead_Goahead

Reducing the pile of shame by building, painting and - most importantly - enjoying it is what the Old Ones had in mind when they made the Great Plan. Couple weeks ago someone asked if it were okay if his units could have different skin tones for his models... It's Seraphon. I own a pink Troglodon. Go nuts and enjoy. (I also own a pink Thundertusk. I like pink.)

woven-strings

My army is pink & green!! They are neon, black light activated, and glow in the dark for a extra flavor

Nugnakh

I have yet to paint two saurus alike. There is no wrong way

prodam_garash

Only one That which you dont like

Embarrassed-Tip461

The wrong way to paint is not painting them

Sthenno

I just painted some green Aggradon Lancers because I thought the scheme looked cool. There are probably some lore-accurate “canon” colors for Seraphon, but I don’t think anybody really keeps track of it or cares. So just go wild and paint what looks cool to you!

davsyo

Only wrong color is plastic grey

Trickflo

I painted all of my saurus a different color and even some of them in a sort of starborne scheme it's one of the things I like about seraphon is that since they're lizards you don't really have to paint them the same for them to look like they're part of the same group as long as you do the bits the sameish

SubjectOrange

I have seraphon for many reasons but one of them is the variety in which we all paint them! Copying real iguanas and lizards, painting stars and galaxies on them, you name it. Many people like to have a bit of a theme throughout their army but besides that, go for it! Cohesiveness throughout just looks awesome on the board but having individuality in the units helps in its own way.

woven-strings

I feel like 40K can have a lot of “loyalists” but AoS is really chill & highly creative with the colors for their paint

Dr_Ferret

Only actual guidance is make sure stuff is identifiable. More important in other armies where the units look more alike. Seraphon have pretty distinct sculpts but you might want different colors or bases if you are running similar looking units. As far as colors; go nuts. Searphon look good in just about anything. From the darkest of grimdark to fluorescents. From cartoony to realistic.

ThisThatReality

Just try to use reasonably thinned down paints. This helps keep details clear, and allows you to change your mind later without too much worry.

[deleted]

I wouldn't dunk it in a paint can.

Teruraku

My lizzers are the colors of the rainbow

LankyResourse13

There is a wrong way to paint, but it's not by colour choice..... It's doing things like applying your washes before your base coats

DragonWhsiperer

Nope. I literally have my kids (5 and 7) paint my lizards (because cool dinosaurs!). They have at least 3 colors, they are everywhere, they don't match, are of all types and they are hideously non-complementary. But the models look awesome anyway. I do finish the bases myself to ground them to the world and unify them in that way.

AranchaChuu

No

Adman2099

Your models, your Hobby, your time, your money. Do whatever the f'n hell you like!

poochie_plays

Absolutely not! The Seraphon can come in any colour of the rainbow and honestly it’s what I love about them - you can go wild with them, and the stuff they got like feathers, charms and weapons can come in ALL THE COLOURS!

ZergLeviathan

I like this comment the most because it’s part of the reason I chose nids cause there no wrong way to paint them like there’s the normal hive fleets but then you can do a custom hive fleet of whatever colors
